This book was released on 2012-02 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of the study was to investigate the challenges and opportunities for domestic tourism development in Tanzania and to determine the degree to which Tanzanians are satisfied with the current state of leisure, recreation and tourism facilities. Descriptive research design was used based on a sample frame of 5,000,000. A sample size of 275 respondents was considered for the study. Unit of analysis comprised of Dar es Salaam residents, Tourism stakeholders. Cluster sampling method was used to collect the data whereby questionnaires were issued to respondents through purpose approach. Data was analyzed and presented through tables of data, diagrams and charts. Tanzanian domestic tourism is rather unexplored and as such a lot of opportunities exist, however a lot of resources are needed to exploit these opportunities. International development agencies and communities who are the core source of development capital in many developing countries like Tanzania tend to be keener in funding tourism projects that are directly beneficial to the international tourists because they do not consider domestic tourism in developing countries as being viable.

Book excerpt: Tanzania is rivalled by few countries, if any, in terms of its bountiful natural and cultural tourist attractions. Given that tourism development, if sustainable, is an outstanding policy for distributing welfare, even to less developed parts of a country, this field is of particular importance to Tanzania. In this edited volume, prominent scholars focus on the practises and policies of tourism development, with a particular eye on the case of Tanzania. They explore the demand for sustainability from international tourists, the need for local food and linkages between the tourism and agricultural sectors, and the production of tourism services in a responsible and inclusive way. The book will be a valuable source of knowledge for the tourism industry, as well as policymakers, scholars and students who are concerned about the development of a form of tourism which benefits a country, inclusively and responsibly.

Book Synopsis Measuring and Mending Monetary Policy Effectiveness Under Capital Account Restrictions by : Mr.Robert Blotevogel

This book was released on 2013-03-27 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I propose a new approach to identifying exogenous monetary policy shocks in low-income countries with capital account restrictions. In the case of Mauritania, a domestic repatriation requirement is the key institutional characteristic that allows me to establish exogeneity. Unlike in advanced countries, I find no evidence for a statistically significant impact of exogenous monetary policy shocks on bank lending. Using a unique bank-level dataset on monthly balance sheets of six Mauritanian banks over the period 2006–11, I estimate structural vector autoregressions and two-stage least square panel models to demonstrate the ineffectiveness of monetary policy. Finally, I discuss how a reduction in banks’ loan concentration ratios and improvements in the liquidity management framework could make monetary stimuli more effective.

Book excerpt: Bachelor Thesis from the year 2017 in the subject Tourism - Miscellaneous, grade: 1, , course: Tourism Managment, language: English, abstract: This study discusses the role played by Morogoro residents in promoting Tanzania’s tourism industry. The study used a total of 30 respondents. Data was collected through questionnaires. Data analysis was done using SPSS program (20 versions) and presented in form of tables and percentages. Findings show that the most used promotion channel by Morogoro residents are TVs and Radios because a great number of people have access to TVs and Radios and believe it’s easy to reach them using these channels. Respondents also mentioned social media to be thesecond most used promotion channel, on the grounds that a lot of people have access to the internet and own multiple social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter and it’s very easy to reach them that way. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the government support the promotion activities by reducing the cost of adverts at least on government broadcasting channels like government owed TV and radio stations and newspaper, this will easy the cost of other tourism stakeholders like the local communities in Morogoro municipal and tour operators to make adverts and air them to the public through mass media.

Book Synopsis Socialising Tourism by : Freya Higgins-Desbiolles
Download or read book Socialising Tourism written by Freya Higgins-Desbiolles and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2021-07-29 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once touted as the world’s largest industry and also a tool for fostering peace and global understanding, tourism has certainly been a major force shaping our world. The recent COVID-19 crisis has led to calls to transform tourism and reset it along more ethical and sustainable lines. It was in this context that calls to "socialise tourism" emerged (Higgins-Desbiolles, 2020). This edited volume builds on this work by employing the term Socialising Tourism as a broad conceptual focal point and guiding term for industry, activists and academics to rethink tourism for social and ecological justice. Socialising Tourism means reorienting travel and tourism based on the rights, interests, and safeguarding of traditional ecological and cultural knowledges of local peoples, communities and living landscapes. This means making tourism work for the public good and taking seriously the idea of putting the social and ecological before profit and growth as the world re-emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an essential first step for tourism to be made accountable to the limits of the planet. Concepts discussed include Indigenous culture, toxic tourism, a "theory of care", dismantling whiteness, decolonial tourism and animal oppression, among others, all in the context of a post-COVID-19 world. This will be essential reading for all upper-level students, academics and policymakers in the field of tourism. Book Synopsis Determinants of International Tourism by : Mr.Alexander Culiuc
Download or read book Determinants of International Tourism written by Mr.Alexander Culiuc and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The paper estimates the impact of macroeconomic supply- and demand-side determinants of tourism, one of the largest components of services exports globally, and the backbone of many smaller economies. It applies the gravity model to a large dataset comprising the full universe of bilateral tourism flows spanning over a decade. The results show that the gravity model explains tourism flows better than goods trade for equivalent specifications. The elasticity of tourism with respect to GDP of the origin (importing) country is lower than for goods trade. Tourism flows respond strongly to changes in the destination country’s real exchange rate, along both extensive (tourist arrivals) and intensive (duration of stay) margins. OECD countries generally exhibit higher elasticties with respect to economic variables (GDPs of the two economies, real exchange rate, bilateral trade) due to the larger share of business travel. Tourism to small islands is less sensitive to changes in the country’s real exchange rate, but more susceptible to the introduction/removal of direct flights.
