Book excerpt: A globe-trotting action/adventure, through our world and the one beyond. Logan Flint is a wealthy playboy who lives for his next rush of adrenaline. His estranged twin brother, Landon, is a professor at Columbia with two left feet and no desire to use either. Linked in the eyes of the world by the legacy of their late father, the world's most colorful and controversial treasure-hunter, they seem to have it all, despite the reality of their broken relationship. But then Logan suffers a devastating accident that paralyzes him from the neck down. He's wheelchair-bound and trapped in a joyless existence, stuck watching as Landon travels to Peru on a mission to atone for his father's plundering by returning artifacts to their countries of origin. Nearly consumed by depression, Logan discovers a rare ability to astral project to his twin when Landon is suddenly in danger. Secretly united by this unusual connection, the two are forced on a high-stakes adventure to solve a mystery that their father came "this" close to cracking. With Landon pushed to navigate a physical world that he has spent his life hiding from and Logan thrust into a spiritual world with strange and unexpected powers, the brothers will embark on a journey to restore their relationship and find the Lost Treasure of Lima. "Who doesn't like a story about a lost treasure and the multiple international players who are ready to risk everything to get it? " - Screencraft Fans of Indiana Jones and Around the World in Eight-Days (Verne) will love this "high-energy, swashbuckling" book. (Screencraft)

Book excerpt: White beaches and coral reefs should be adventureproof… For archaeologist and TV show host Annja Creed, a restful vacation in Costa Rica is as elusive as a rare artifact. Days into her sojourn, Annja's peace is interrupted by a woman with a mysterious-and enticing-tale. Weeks earlier, her husband led an expedition into the rain forest, in search of the lost treasure of Lima, and hadn't returned. The priceless hoard was smuggled out of Peru during the country's nineteenth-century revolt against Spain. But it disappeared when a ship captain went mad with greed. Twenty-six expeditions have gone after the treasure. And twenty-six expeditions have vanished. Sympathetic to the woman's distress, Annja agrees to head up a rescue party for her missing husband. And Annja can't deny her own interest in the lost hoard. Now the fates of two expeditions are at stake, along with a fortune in gold, silver and jewels rumoured to be exquisite. But the dense jungle of Cocos Island guards its primitive secrets well. Danger lurks beneath the ancient green canopy. And this time, Annja doesn't see it coming….

Book excerpt: The tale begins over three-hundred years ago, when the Fair People—the goblins, fairies, dragons, and other fabled and fantastic creatures of a dozen lands—fled the Old World for the New, seeking haven from the ways of Man. With them came their precious jewels: diamonds, rubies, emeralds, pearls... But then the Fair People vanished, taking with them their twelve fabulous treasures. And they remained hidden until now... Across North America, these twelve treasures, over ten-thousand dollars in precious jewels, are buried. The key to finding each can be found within the twelve full color paintings and verses of The Secret. Yet The Secret is much more than that. At long last, you can learn not only the whereabouts of the Fair People's treasure, but also the modern forms and hiding places of their descendants: the Toll Trolls, Maitre D'eamons, Elf Alphas, Tupperwerewolves, Freudian Sylphs, Culture Vultures, West Ghosts and other delightful creatures in the world around us. The Secret is a field guide to them all. Many "armchair treasure hunt" books have been published over the years, most notably Masquerade (1979) by British artist Kit Williams. Masquerade promised a jewel-encrusted golden hare to the first person to unravel the riddle that Williams cleverly hid in his art. In 1982, while everyone in Britain was still madly digging up hedgerows and pastures in search of the golden hare, The Secret: A Treasure Hunt was published in America. The previous year, author and publisher Byron Preiss had traveled to 12 locations in the continental U.S. (and possibly Canada) to secretly bury a dozen ceramic casques. Each casque contained a small key that could be redeemed for one of 12 jewels Preiss kept in a safe deposit box in New York. The key to finding the casques was to match one of 12 paintings to one of 12 poetic verses, solve the resulting riddle, and start digging. Since 1982, only two of the 12 casques have been recovered. The first was located in Grant Park, Chicago, in 1984 by a group of students. The second was unearthed in 2004 in Cleveland by two members of the Quest4Treasure forum. Preiss was killed in an auto accident in the summer of 2005, but the hunt for his casques continues.

This book was released on 2013-07-12 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The twenty-four tales in this book are of the most famous lost treasures in America, from a two-foot statue reportedly made entirely of silver (the “Madonna”) and a cache of gold, silver, and jewelry that was rumored to also contain the first Bible in America to seventeen tons of gold—its value equal to the treasury of a mid-sized nation—buried somewhere in northwestern New Mexico. What makes these tales even more compelling is that none of these known-to-be-lost treasures have been discovered, although modern detecting technology has made them eminently discoverable.
