Book excerpt: Throughout my life The Lord has been my constant guide and companion; and along the way I have found He has a sense of humor, some of which I disclose in these pages. Another thing; no matter how far I have drifted from the straight and narrow The Lord remained with me along with attending angels and love does indeed cover a multitude of sins. I can only account for my having lived as long as I have on this basis. The reader will understand what I mean once getting into this book. Along my journey with the Lord I discovered many things, one of them being Einstein's famous equation E=MC2 is incomplete because it does not account for life and death, yet these remain the two greatest mysteries they have ever been denying us thus far a "theory of everything." Some years ago I removed from the greater part of society to live in semi-seclusion alone with my books and thoughts in a quiet part of the Sequoia National Forest devoting myself to contemplation, speculating about many things and committing my thoughts in writing fulltime. As a writer and author given to much introspection and fascinated by human behavior, nature, and our universe it was important to me to simplify my life as much as possible as anyone given to philosophical speculation about many things must. That much of my writing covers some metaphysical thoughts about God, angels and demons, an afterlife and Biblical stories of origins, of prophecies of the End Times and so much more have been absorbing studies as well and I freely share my thoughts about these in this volume.

Book excerpt: In Against the Church, longtime pastor Douglas Wilson takes a hammer to some of our very favorite graven images, and (surprise, surprise) we've set up display cases for most of them in our churches: Liturgy, Tradition, Systematics, infant Baptism, and that crafty old Baal Doctrine. Alongside a critique of philosophical assumptions about human nature, dualism, and grace, Wilson stresses the unavoidable and absolute necessity of individual hearts being born again. He concludes by laying out the case for the church. This isn't contradictory, though--the only way to be effectually for the church is to master the case against it. After all, God Himself is the ultimate iconoclast.

Throughout the ages there have been illumined souls who possessed extraordinary powers of the mind and spirit. These great teachers possessed universal wisdom which they carefully guarded, revealing it only to the few neophytes who were ready for these great mystical and spiritual revelations. These great souls had discovered the secrets of the universe through contemplation and meditation on the deeper mysteries of life. They advised kings and princes; they safeguarded the arts, music, literature and scientific knowledge all through the dark ages. They gave inspiration and guidance to the few who were ready for their revelations. Civilization advances and man rises to greatness under the impetus of the wisdom and knowledge that he gathers throughout the centuries. Formerly this wisdom was denied to the masses, because they lacked the institutions of learning. Now, in our modern twentieth century, this accumulated wisdom can be revealed in all its radiant splendor. In this study we shall walk together, teacher and student, down the golden path of history, gleaning the priceless secrets of the ages and applying them to your own daily life for achieving the health, wealth, and happiness which is every person's secret dream. Norvell’s Dynamic Mental Laws will reveal the secrets of ancient lands and cultures, India, China and Tibet, all explained in modern language which can be easily understood and applied to your own life. We shall explore the glories of the Golden Age of Greece and learn of the wonders revealed by such great minds as Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and Epicurus. Many of the profound truths uttered by these mystics and sages apply to modern living, and your life will be greatly enhanced and enriched by gleaning these pearls of wisdom from these great minds. Carved in stone, penned on parchment and papyrus, blocks of wood and marble, these great teachers of the past left their forbidden secrets of the ages to guide the initiates in the Temple of Wisdom. Now we shall study these universal and mental Laws of the past and present and learn how you may apply them to your own everyday life to achieve the fulfillment of all your dreams. In my twenty-five years of lecturing and teaching in world-famous Carnegie Hall in New York City, literally thousands of students have studied these great spiritual and mental truths with me, and now, for the first time, they are being given to the world so that you may study them in the privacy of your own home. You need not be a cloistered mystic in some sacred shrine in India or Tibet to be able to use these forbidden secrets of the ages. You can begin instantly to avail yourself of the benefits of this cosmic and universal knowledge.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Waiting Father is a collection of sermons by Helmut Thielicke, the great German preacher and theologian, which offer deep insights into the spiritual message of Jesus's fifteen major parables. They were originally preached in Michaelskirche, Hamburg, in the mid-1950s. Thielicke approaches the parables in novel ways. In treating the prodigal son, for instance, he concentrates more on the loving father than the rebellious son, emphasising the centrality of forgiveness. Similarly, when discussing the pharisee and the publican he shows that the publican is guilty of spiritual pride and arrogance, drawing attention to the dangers for the faithful. Both among expositions of the parables and among books for preachers, The Waiting Father stands in a class of its own. Great scholars are usually poor preachers, and great scholars are rarely good preachers, but Thielicke manages to combine distinguished scholarship with fine preaching.

Book excerpt: John and Pam Dysinger started life together with the desire to serve. Young and idealistic, they headed to Kenya with the passion to make a difference in the lives of children and youth. For the next eight years the classroom was their platform for ministry. Then the call came. Like Abraham’s call to leave the comforts of home for an unknown destination, their call was to leave the comforts of employment, for an unknown occupation. In a world of fractured relationships, John was called to come home and join Pam in the raising of their children. Farming was God’s appointed vehicle to unite the family. Together they worked toward common goals and experienced the exhilaration of conquering seemingly insurmountable tasks; together they experienced the fears and struggles of “failure” and the financial constraints of “poverty.” Walk with them through this candid account of their experience as they learned to follow God and depend on Him alone. Grapple with them as they faced the harsh realities of learning to farm; cling with them to the promises of God and the desire to be faithful to His call. Above all, come to know that, while your path may not be exactly the same, God wants this same kind of intimate relationship with you.

Book excerpt: Healing His Wounded Church exposes the "roots" of the problems in the Catholic Church, and brings fresh thinking to bear for "laying the axe" to those "roots." It is plainspoken, authentically Catholic, and rich in content. Having a vision of healing come from the spiritual journey of a common layman provides new and innovative thinking. It serves a pressing need in today's Church. Couples have been led into sinful practices in their marriages. Two generations no longer know their Faith. Few understand the spiritual life and how to pray. This formation is presented with practical simplicity for clergy and "lay apostles", as well as for couples and families. It leans heavily on John Paul II's "Theology of The Body" and teachings on family and spiritual life. There are several deeply personal "surprises" included, which are an inspiration. According to the author, Catholic Culture has run aground and must rise from the ashes of Pagan Modernism spawned in a "camp of death." The book calls for fidelity to Christ and to the teachings of his Church. Only the salve of Truth will "Heal His Wounded Church" setting us free from sin and error."

This book is about a terrible tragedy that happened to my family. God used this tragedy to reveal precious truths about Himself and in the process, I learned a lot about myself. There are many hinderances to fellowship with God, but they are all on our side. Only embracing the mystery of life and allowing God to have His way will give us peace. I have been inspired by other authors. I pray this book will inspire its readers to get honest with God about themselves and seek Him with all their heart.

Book excerpt: This is a story about faith, hope, and love; that takes us on a journey through the lives of Grampa, George, and Uncle Red. How a garden, and some special seeds, will help build and bond together their relationships. All that is sown, in love, will follow them into eternity. When lives meet and come together, there is always seed sown. Good seed or bad seed; that's up to each individual. We reap what we sow! Grampa had gone out for his evening walk. He wasn't expecting anything out of the ordinary. "When he looked down again, the man was gone, vanished, no where to be seen!" George found himself facing a challenge that he hadn't planned on. "This could be a disaster, he thought to himself; as the fear began to tighten it's grip around his heart and mind" Uncle Red has been making a steady comeback from the land of the lost. "There was Uncle Red staring at George with that big ol' grin running across his face; as he showed off the dead spider on the table." "That's when George knew that Uncle Red was completely crazy" Darlin, Grampa's beloved dog, "Looked up in total agreement" Some of the events in this story are true, while others are not. Which are true? I'm not telling. I will leave that up to your own imagination. Now don't miss the short story at the back of this book, just a few pages in reverse. "THE CROW, THE FLEA, AND THE GRASSHOPPER" Not much in length, but then again; it might just give you something interesting to think about!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Awarded an American Legion Scholarship I am also an award winning author and have published numerous articles and books. Having attended several colleges and universities eventually earning my Ph. D. in Human Behavior I hold several life credentials in education earned during many years as an educator together with years spent working in the Aerospace Industry and other occupations. But to call Einstein's famous equation E=MC2 incomplete because it does not account for life and death does seem quite extraordinary, yet these remain the two greatest mysteries they have ever been denying us thus far a "theory of everything." Something animates life and departs with death, but what this "something" is not all our science has yet discovered, though things like the Large Hadron Collider may provide needed insight, and it has been in the pursuit of knowledge about these two greatest mysteries that has compelled me into so many varied academic studies and careers attempting to make sense of the world and our place in it and how people think and deal with the issues of life and death philosophically, religiously, and politically. The things I have discovered along the way compelled me to much research and speculation about these mysteries and how they impact our lives, to communicate my thoughts about them to share with others in a daily journal and posted to my website and provided in book format each year. These writings are of importance in an increasingly dangerous world with a most uncertain future due to so much corruption, ineptitude and lack of accountability in our own government as well as that of others, the abject failure of our schools due to the very same things especially the same lack of accountability we find in government, the religious and political hatreds with protracted wars worldwide and little to give hope for world peace I believed my articles about these important enough to publish in book format. Some years ago I removed from the greater part of society to live in semi-seclusion alone with my books and thoughts in a quiet part of the Sequoia National Forest devoting myself to contemplation, speculating about many things and committing my thoughts in writing fulltime. As a writer and author given to much introspection and fascinated by human behavior, nature, and our universe it was important to me to simplify my life as much as possible as anyone given to philosophical speculation about many things must.
