Book excerpt: In the most extraordinary way, the wisdom of this book invites you to fall in love with the human condition and offers endless compassion for every Soul walking the planet. A Light in the Darkness is the true story of an incredible visitation from God that began for Phyllis Leavitt in 1994 at the darkest time of her life. Although she had prayed for God's help, she was totally unprepared when one day, God literally spoke. There was no question that a source of Divine Love and profound Wisdom came to her as she wrote in her journal. She was taken on a startling and sometimes terrifying journey through past lives and way beyond that, to a new understanding of what all our Souls are doing here in human form and where Soul wants to take us. Her personal story is one footprint on the long road we have all walked as human beings, a small opening into a vast inpouring of Light on the Road Home. A Light in the Darkness will open your heart to the Divine meaning and purpose of all human struggle and it will open your mind to your personal place in God's Love and the evolution of human consciousness.
Download or read book The Dark Stain written by Benjamin Appel and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2012-01-04 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Dark Stain is a novel of tremendous force and vitality. It is a story of lust and hatred and passion . . . nakedly portrayed and in words the meaning of which can escape no one. The locale is Harlem, but what happens in its exciting pages has already been paralleled in many American cities and may happen in many more. It is the story of Sam Miller, a New York cop, who was unwillingly forced to kill a crazed negro. This killing sets off a series of events that threatens to explode into the riot. How an American Fascist group thies to exploit the situation gives the author an opportunity to tell a story that has all the elements of a thriller and all the threat of a warning. Suzy Buckles, beautiful and in love with Sam, is aware of the forces this killing will let loose. Hal Clair, negro leader, so light-hued that he passes for white, tries to act as the appeaser. Marian Burrow, his secretary, light-brown, desirable, a reefer smoker, hates the whites but is attractive to them and attracted by them. Bill Trent is a former gangster who has graduated into a salesman for Fascism. Ex-Governor Heney is a suave rabble rouser who has a particular appeal for people with fat bank accounts. Haydn Norris is a rich ma’s son, an international Fascist, without emotional hatreds; Big Boy Bose is vice lord of Harlem, whose distrust of the whites makes him a valuable ally. These are the leading characters, but there are many others, each of whom plays a role in this drama that is as timely as tomorrow’s headlines . . . The story of an America that can happen here.

Download or read book The Book of Darkness written by Vasile Munteanu and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2015-09-18 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is a collection of poems dealing with various themes, emotions, and mental states, the overarching, unifying idea being fear. There are both rational and irrational fears that can either stop us or force us into engaging in situations we are not confortable with. And there is the greatest fear of all, the fear of the self. We may not always know it or admit it, but the fear of the self can serve as either a blessing or a curse depending on the actual outcome of a choice or action. Being afraid starts in chilhood and lasts until the end of life because we tend to fear beginnings as well as endings proportionately. The poems try to shed some light on these occurences.
Book Synopsis Narrative Machine by : Zena Meadowsong
Download or read book Narrative Machine written by Zena Meadowsong and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-11-20 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Narrative Machine: The Naturalist, Modernist, and Postmodernist Novel advances a new history of the novel, identifying a crucial link between narrative innovation and the historical process of mechanization. In the late nineteenth century, the novel grapples with a new and increasingly acute problem: In its attempt to represent the colossal power of modern machinery—the steam-driven machines of the Industrial Revolution, the electrical machines of the modern city, and the atomic and digital machines developed after the Second World War—it encounters the limitations of traditional representative strategies. Beginning in the naturalist novel, the machine is typically portrayed as a mythic monster, and though that monster represents a potentially horrific reality—the superhuman power of mechanization—it also disrupts the documentary objectives of narrative realism (the dominant mode of nineteenth-century fiction). The mechanical monster, realistic and yet at odds with traditional realist strategies, tears the form of the novel apart. In doing so, it unleashes a series of innovations that disclose, critique, and contest the force of mechanization: the innovations associated with literary naturalism, modernism, and postmodernism.

At best, she will not only lose her heart but her life and everyone she loves. Once the truth is out, however, there will be no going back. And she'll definitely wish she could."--Back cover.
Book Synopsis Light in the Darkness by : Heino Falcke
Download or read book Light in the Darkness written by Heino Falcke and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2021-05-04 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Bestseller On April 10, 2019, award-winning astrophysicist Heino Falcke presented the first image ever captured of a black hole at an international press conference—a turning point in astronomy that Science magazine called the scientific breakthrough of the year. That photo was captured with the unthinkable commitment of an intercontinental team of astronomers who transformed the world into a global telescope. While this image achieved Falcke’s goal in making a black hole “visible” for the first time, he recognizes that the photo itself asks more questions for humanity than it answers. Light in the Darkness takes us on Falcke’s extraordinary journey to the darkest corners of the universe. From the first humans looking up at the night sky to modern astrophysics, from the study of black holes to the still-unsolved mysteries of the universe, Falcke asks, in even the greatest triumphs of science, is there room for doubts, faith, and a God? A plea for curiosity and humility, Light in the Darkness sees one of the great minds shaping the world today as he ponders the big, pressing questions that present themselves when we look up at the stars.
