Book Synopsis Etymological Dictionary of Egyptian, Volume 1 by : Gábor Takács
Download or read book Etymological Dictionary of Egyptian, Volume 1 written by Gábor Takács and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2022-05-16 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the introductory volume to the first dictionary on the etymological relations between ancient Egyptian and other Afro-Asiatic languages. Gábor Takács’ new multi-volume Etymological Dictionary of Egyptian (now to appear at regular intervals of about 12-18 months) will be a hallmark in Egyptian and Afro-Asiatic linguistics. The amount of material offered, the extensive treatment of scholarly discussions on each item, and the insights into the connections of Egyptian with its related Afro-Asiatic languages, including many new lexical parallels, will make it an indispensable tool for comparative and interpretative purposes and the unchallenged starting point for every linguist in the field. Volume 1, the opening volume of the dictionary, can rightly be called the key to the work; it not only provides the users with a comprehensive analysis of the Afro-Asiatic background of the Egyptian consonant system, but also offers a critical appraisal of linguistic theories on Egyptian historical phonology, the problems surrounding the origins of the Egyptian language, and an extensive bibliography to the dictionary volumes to appear.
Book Synopsis Spiritual Widowhood by : Andy Mendonsa
Download or read book Spiritual Widowhood written by Andy Mendonsa and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2017-02-23 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2 Corinthians 11:2-3 Paul writes, I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpents cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. (NIV). When Paul expresses his concern for the church, that is, Christs bride, not to be deceived as Eve was by the Serpent, he is speaking to both men and women, because the church includes both. Yet historically it has been men who have been the appointed leaders of churches. And just as it was Adams responsibility not to allow deception to come into the garden, so it has been the same for men throughout the church age. If you do not recognize your own vulnerability as a man, and thus the vulnerability of the church, for being deceived as Eve was by the Serpent, then chances are you have already been deceived and may have now become a deceiver of others. Spiritual Widowhoods chief aim is, therefore, to present what I believe to be a crucial, if not the crucial litmus test for us, based on Scripture, for determining whether we have not only been deceived, but have now become the deceivers of others, and if found to be true what the consequences will then be for us as the church going forward.

Erman's time, and thanks to an extremely detailed discussion of all possible relevant data even on the less known Afro-Asiatic cognates to the Egyptian roots.

Book Synopsis In Hot Pursuit of Language in Prehistory by : John D. Bengtson
Download or read book In Hot Pursuit of Language in Prehistory written by John D. Bengtson and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2008 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Compiled in honor and celebration of veteran anthropologist Harold C. Fleming, this book contains 23 articles by anthropologists (in the general sense) from the four main disciplines of prehistory: archaeology, biogenetics, paleoanthropology, and genetic (historical) linguistics. Because of Professor Fleming's major focus on language he founded the Association for the Study of Language in Prehistory and the journal Mother Tongue the content of the book is heavily tilted toward the study of human language, its origins, historical development, and taxonomy. Because of Fleming's extensive field experience in Africa some of the articles deal with African topics. This volume is intended to exemplify the principle, in the words of Fleming himself, that each of the four disciplines is enriched when it combines with any one of the other four. The authors are representative of the cutting edge of their respective fields, and this book is unusual in including contributions from a wide range of anthropological fields rather than concentrating in any one of them.

Book Synopsis The Christian Leadership Dilemma by : F.D. Magnelli
Download or read book The Christian Leadership Dilemma written by F.D. Magnelli and published by Morgan James Publishing. This book was released on 2022-02-01 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Christian Leadership Dilemma addresses how Christians can live in newness of life above victimization, judgment, and confusion in a world that seems to be barreling forward on a collision course with the very truth, indeed, the only truth that will make people truly free. Both freedom and bondage are in the heart, and both are below the surface of the noise of life. The Christian Leadership Dilemma addresses the systemic root causes of this dilemma that stems from Christian leaders who are diverted from their heavenly calling through grace and instead adopt a worldly approach to Christianity. It notes quality leaders are not to lord over or dominate followers by leveraging power to control them but rather to serve, be helpers of their joy, and be good examples. It also addresses how to settle any issues in the Christian community and how to respond to conflict from within or without the community. With this foundation, The Christian Leadership Dilemma clarifies what true “ministry” is and the necessity of obeying God rather than men when it comes to standing upon the Christian’s God-given justification through the faith of Jesus Christ. At times, those who have endeavored over the centuries to bring clarity and reform to the Christian community have been accused and maligned because they disturbed the status quo. The Christian Leadership Dilemma is intended to echo those voices of reform resounding as the single voice of a choir calling to who truly desire to know how to navigate the Christian experience successfully, particularly in times of leadership crises.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Would you volunteer for open heart surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation treatments? Would you consider becoming severely depressed? Well don't worry, you won't have to volunteer. Unfortunately, heart disease and cancer are the leading causes of death in the United States. If you live a normal life span, the chances are better than even money that you will experience one of the above conditions. And should you ever need to be in a hospital, will you be adequately insured or will it be a trip to the poor house for you and your family? Even those who don't need to be hospitalized spend millions of dollars daily on prescription drugs, and yes, antidepressants are still listed among the top selling prescription drugs in the country. If there is a loving God, then why do so many people find themselves in these kinds of situations? Would you prefer not to be in such a situation? If your doctor informed you that by reading just five or ten minutes a day for the next 30 days you could significantly lower your risk of experiencing these types of conditions, would you follow his or her advice? What if your doctor told you that your recovery was far more likely, would you listen then? Dispensing Truth addresses these issues from a biblical basis but with the unique perspective of one who is not only an ordained minister but a community pharmacist as well. The results reveal some amazing answers. Answers that provide truth, hope, and encouragement to the troubled, to the sick, and to the dying. Discover for yourself a file of divine prescriptions that can restore and maintain good health.
