Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The kingdom of God is the called out people of God (Col. 1:1314) from the world of darkness as the spiritual family of Christ. The kingdom of God is bound up in the age of grace and truth and is the fulfillment of Gods promise to Abraham to bless all nations of people. The kingdom of God in prophecy started during the Roman rule (Dan. 2:44) with the Jews at Pentecost in Jerusalem (ca. 33 AD) and then to the Gentile world to include our present age. Jesus reigns as Lord and Christ over His church / the kingdom of God in the twenty-first century and continues to call people of every nation to walk with Him by faith, repentance, and baptism in His name until the consummation of all things and His second return. The Christian Age is the eschatology (Last Day events) of Jesuss reign under the leadership of the Holy Spirit through the preached Word. The salvation of the Gentile nations is the final work of God to restore what was lost in heaven through Satan and his angels (Rev. 12:710). When Jesus appears, his reign ends, and the spiritual family and the church of Christ / kingdom of God will go home.

Book excerpt: Why does the allegiance that radical terrorists give to their false cause exceed the allegiance that most Christians today give to Jesus Christ? In Insurgence, bestselling author Frank Viola presents a radical proposal for Christians. Namely, that we have lost the explosive, earthshaking gospel of the kingdom that Jesus, Paul, and the other apostles preached. Viola argues that we've lost this dynamic, titanic, living gospel and exchanged it for a gospel of religious duty or permissiveness and "easy believism." In today's politically charged era, Christians on the progressive left as well as the conservative right both equate their particular viewpoints with the kingdom of God. Viola challenges and dismantles these perspectives, offering a fresh and revolutionary look at the gospel of the kingdom. Viola writes with gripping power, challenging Christians to embrace an unparalleled allegiance to Jesus Christ and his kingdom. This high-octane message is being reclaimed today, launching a spiritual insurgence.

Book excerpt: Understanding the Kingdom of God provides the answers to clarify the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven. Furthermore, this book launches a challenge to the contemporary church regarding changes it must make to go from a weak Christianity to become an overcoming church that can transform society. With profound theology but in simple language, Torres illuminates the present and eschatological concepts of the Kingdom and the need for the church and you as an individual to understand the calling, the power, the glory, the integrity, the ethics, and the challenges before us to establish the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in Heaven. No other topic is mentioned so frequently in the gospels as the Kingdom of God. Indeed on the pages of this book we can understand that the theme that unifies the biblical revelation in its entirety is centered on the concept of the Kingdom of God. Understanding the Kingdom of God has been endorsed by: "While the Church of the XXI century continues to march to do the great commission of discipling nations, certain truths have come to be relevant in our day. The "Gospel of the Kingdom" is one of them. With great clarity, depth and good balance, Hector Torres invites us to go beyond our religious formulas and anemic Christianity, to the true heart of our mission: to see the Kingdom of God penetrate every nation and culture of the land. Understanding the Kingdom of God is a treasure!" --APOSTLE DUTCH SHEETS Author of: Tell Your Heart to Beat Again, Intercessory Prayer, and How to Pray for Your Lost Loved Ones "How important and necessary it is to have books like "Understanding the Kingdom of God"! Dr. Hector Torres breaks it down, in great detail, the mysteries, authority and power of the Kingdom to change nations. I believe that the leaders, who are at the forefront of God's movement in the 21st century, must know and read this book, as it is one of the most complete books about the Kingdom of God, available to the Christian community. I highly recommend it, as it will bless the lives of those who receive this treasure." --Dr. GUILLERMO MALDONADO Ministerio Internacional El Rey Jesus Miami Florida "Jesus told his disciples to pray that the Kingdom of God come to earth and that His will be done on earth as well as it is in heaven. Hector Torres does an excellent job presenting what the Kingdom of God means, so when you read this book, you will get a new perspective on the Kingdom. This book comes at a precise moment when the Holy Spirit is embarking believers to have a broad mindset and a vision of the Kingdom. Thank you, Hector, for making these truths of the Kingdom of God accessible to the Body of Christ." --DR. BILL HAMON Founder and President of Christian International Ministries Network "In a time of transition, the Lord raises voices that may be heard. That is what he has done with Hector Torres. In this book, Understanding the Kingdom of God, Torres navigates a route that will lead the Church out of the confusion into a clarity that awaits us in the new apostolic era. This is a book about reformation and transformation." --JIM (JAMES) W. GOLL Ministry to the Nations Author of: The Lost Art of Intercession and Exodus Cry

But what did that phrase mean in the first-century Palestinian world of Jesus? Since it is a political metaphor, what did Jesus envision as the political import of his message? Since this is tied to the political economy, how was that structured in Jesus' day? How is the violence of Jesus' Mediterranean world addressed in the kingdom? And how does "self-denial" fit into Jesus' agenda? Malina tackles these questions in a very accessible way, providing a social-scientific analysis, meaning that he brings to bear explicit models and a comparative approach toward an exciting interpretation of what Jesus was up to, and how his first-century audience would have heard him.

Book excerpt: In His parables, Jesus referred to the Gospel as seed and, in so doing, sought to present features of this good news and the manner in which it needed to be received. The seedbed, of course, is the human heart. People need to hear the message of the Christ and embrace it by faith and, in so doing, allow it to grow within their soul, letting it become an informing influence in their lives. Yet this seedbed already has vegetation growing within it. From infancy, we're taught how to get along in this world in which we live, how to understand our surroundings, how to avoid harm, how to make our way into adulthood and benefit from our various activities. Our existence is defined through our interaction with other people; our families and our communities teach us how to understand the world around us. We learn what is considered good and what is considered bad. In complex societies, basic values may be contested, but even in this complexity, there are certain fundamental beliefs that are embraced by most members of a particular society. All these features pertaining to our surroundings are referred to as culture. The culture works to define us, and all who are part of our culture are defined in similar ways. When the Gospel is presented within any culture, it may share some common elements within that seedbed, but it will also invariably conflict with that culture because at its core, it is unique. And its uniqueness will work to challenge the people within that culture to choose the Gospel over what they have absorbed from their surroundings. The focus of this discussion is to consider how the good news, the Gospel, is understood and embraced in American culture today, in the twenty-first century, and to investigate how it may be being distorted or its power diminished by some of the ideas that are prevalent in today's society.Cover Design by Rebekah Jenkins
