Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Those familiar with input-output analysis know well that compilation of input-output tables is a difficult statistical work. The very first input-output tables (e.g. such as those for the United States economy in 1919 and 1929 or for the Federal Republic of Germany in the fifties) were the results of applied economic research. But soon after, official statistical bodies, who understood that input-output tables consistent with national accounts can very much improve the quality of economic statistics, started systematic work in this field. It was also obvious that international exchange of experience can be useful. The two main internatio nal fora in which discussion of input-output compilation took place were the international input-out put conferences and United Nations bodies. Already at the First International Conference on Input-Output Techniques (Driebergen 1950) several authors analysed the relations between input-output tables and national accounts. The topic was also on the programme of the Second Conference (Varenna 1954). At the Third Conference (Geneva 1961) standardization of input-output statistics was a topic of a panel discussion of eight experts. The relevant papers, which are still of interest, can be found in published conference proceedings.

Book Synopsis The Drug Industry by : Myron J. Gordon
Download or read book The Drug Industry written by Myron J. Gordon and published by James Lorimer & Company. This book was released on 1981-01-01 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this independent study, first published in 1981, economists Myron Gordon and David Fowler test the assertions made by both defenders and critics of multinational drug corporations. The pharamaceutical business in Canada is a classic example of a foreign-dominated manufacturing industry. Drug industry practices—such as the high cost of drug products, agressive marketing of drugs to doctors, inadequate testing of potentially dangerous substances, and excessive profits—have concerned both media and citizens in Canada. The Drug Industry is an analysis of a classic branch-plant business in Canada, offering recommendations for increased and closely-focussed government regulation.
Book Synopsis Topics in Classical Micro- and Macroeconomics by : Peter Flaschel
Download or read book Topics in Classical Micro- and Macroeconomics written by Peter Flaschel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-03-14 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book on Classical micro- and macrodynamics includes revised versions of papers which were written between 1983 and 2000, some jointly with co-authors, and it supplements them with recent work on the issues which are raised and treated in them. It attempts to demonstrate to the reader that themes of Classical economics, in particular in the tradition of Smith, Ricardo and Marx, can be synthesized into a coherent whole, from the perspective of formal model building. This is accomplished by means of mathematical techniques which, on the one hand, provide a consistent accounting framework (labor values and prices of p- duction) as point of reference for Classical micro- and macro-dynamics and which, on the other hand, attempt to apply these accounting schemes – or suitable ext- sions of them – by showing their usefulness as tools of analysis of the implications of technological change (labor values) and as potential tools for understanding the dynamics of market prices and of income distribution around their centers of gravity (production prices and the wage-pro?t curve).

Download or read book Pollution written by Peter A. Victor and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-10-17 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study, originally published in 1972, examines the connections between human society and the rest of the universe that are attributable to economic activity. These include the inputs from the environment to industry, such as oxygen, used in the combustion of mineral fuels. Also included are the industrial outputs which are fed back into the environment in the form of waste products. An attempt will be made to establish functional relations between the extent and character of economic activity and the flow of materials in both directions between the economy and the environment. This title will be of interest to students of environmental and natural resource economics.
