Book excerpt: This is the ultimate self-improvement book. Why? The three subjects of this book are Thinking, Learning and Communicating. We must improve these three core capabilities before we can have self-improvement. For that matter, we can't have child-improvement or business-improvement for the same reason. If it can't be defined, it can't be improved. What is your definition of each of these basic human qualities of Thinking, Learning and Communicating? This book has definitions that are short (under 12 words) simple sentences. The book goes on to see how applying these definitions we can develop each from infancy on through our older years. If any books or websites that offer us methods to improve thinking, learning or communicating skills and do not offer these basic definitions, how effective can they be? More at www.thehumankey.com

Have you ever been asked this question? Have you ever asked yourself this question. Have you ever gone to a dictionary to find a definition? If we don't know what thinking is we cannot intentionally improve it or measure improvement. Plainly put, we can't knowingly improve or measure what we don't know. Have we, have you ever gone to a dictionary to find this vital definition? We haven't given thinking a second thought. We have taken thinking for granted though it grants us everything. The Learning Curve provides a definition that can be understood by and adolescent and measured. Further this definitions are backed up by your life experience. Additionally, as astrophysicist Carl Sagan observed: ""Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." There is 30 pages of every-day observations that support the definition.

If you are looking for practical and proven methods to improve your spiritual, mental and physical life, the book “Practical Methods for Spiritual, Mental and Physical Personal Development” is a gem that you cannot miss. Originally written in 1904 by the influential Elisabeth Towne, this text has been rediscovered and translated into Spanish in 2024 by Amparo Martín, providing access to a key work of New Thought. The book is a powerful and detailed guide that covers a wide range of topics, from expanding spiritual awareness to breathing techniques and physical exercises that harmonize body and mind. Towne presents the concept of living aligned with the Law of Being, which is based on love and absolute good, through daily affirmations and practices that free the soul and reaffirm the power of positive thinking. The practical approach of this work allows anyone, regardless of previous experience, to apply simple but profound techniques to transform their life from within. One of the most fascinating points is how Towne explains that success does not depend on chance, but on concentration and dedication towards our goals. With clear and direct prose, he teaches that living a healthy, rich and wise life is within the reach of all people if they manage to align themselves with the universal laws that govern well-being. In addition, it includes specific exercises, such as conscious breathing, that will help improve not only physical condition, but also mental and emotional balance. This book not only dwells on individual development, but also delves into the importance of relationships and how our energies affect those around us. Each chapter offers practical tools to free the soul from emotional and mental burdens, providing a path to inner peace and personal fulfillment. With such rich and relevant content even today, this book becomes an invaluable tool for those seeking to improve their lives in all aspects. From learning to make quick, wise decisions to developing deeper spiritual awareness, Elisabeth Towne's teachings are timeless and offer a broader understanding of how we can achieve our highest goals. Are you ready to take the next step towards a life of success and fulfillment? Don't wait any longer and immerse yourself in this work that has transformed lives for more than a century. Start your journey towards a more conscious and loving existence today!

Book excerpt: This book is the result of a multi-year research project led and sponsored by the University of Chieti-Pescara, National Chengchi University, University of Salamanca, and Osaka University. It is the fifth volume to emerge from that international project, held under the aegis of the United Nations Academic Impact in 2020. All the essays in this volume were (virtually) discussed at the University of L’Aquila―as the venue of the 2nd International Conference on Decision Economics, a three-day global gathering of approximately one hundred scholars and practitioners—and were subjected to thorough peer review by leading experts in the field. The essays reflect the extent, diversity, and richness of several research areas, both normative and descriptive, and are an invaluable resource for graduate-level and PhD students, academics, researchers, policymakers and other professionals, especially in the social and cognitive sciences. Given its interdisciplinary scope, the book subsequently delivers new approaches on how to contribute to the future of economics, providing alternative explanations for various socio-economic issues such as computable humanities; cognitive, behavioural, and experimental perspectives in economics; data analysis and machine learning as well as research areas at the intersection of computer science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, and statistics; agent-based modelling and the related. The editors are grateful to the scientific committee for its continuous support throughout the research project as well as to the many participants for their insightful comments and always probing questions. In any case, the collaboration involved in the project extends far beyond the group of authors published in this volume and is reflected in the quality of the essays published over the years.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the 2009 Goethe Award for Psychoanalytic Scholarship! Irwin Hirsch, author of Coasting in the Countertransference, asserts that countertransference experience always has the potential to be used productively to benefit patients. However, he also observes that it is not unusual for analysts to 'coast' in their countertransferences, and to not use this experience to help treatment progress toward reaching patients' and analysts' stated analytic goals. He believes that it is quite common that analysts who have some conscious awareness of a problematic aspect of countertransference participation, or of a mutual enactment, nevertheless do nothing to change that participation and to use their awareness to move the therapy forward. Instead, analysts may prefer to maintain what has developed into perhaps a mutually comfortable equilibrium in the treatment, possibly rationalizing that the patient is not yet ready to deal with any potential disruption that a more active use of countertransference might precipitate. This 'coasting' is emblematic of what Hirsch believes to be an ever present (and rarely addressed) conflict between analysts’ self-interest and pursuit of comfortable equilibrium, and what may be ideal for patients’ achievement of analytic aims. The acknowledgment of the power of analysts’ self-interest further highlights the contemporary view of a truly two-person psychology conception of psychoanalytic praxis. Analysts’ embrace of their selfish pursuit of comfortable equilibrium reflects both an acknowledgment of the analyst as a flawed other, and a potential willingness to abandon elements of self-interest for the greater good of the therapeutic project.
