Book Synopsis Heat Capacity and Entropy of Cuc12 and Crc12 from 11 to 300 K. Magnetic Ordering in Linear Chain Crystals by : J. W. Stout
Download or read book Heat Capacity and Entropy of Cuc12 and Crc12 from 11 to 300 K. Magnetic Ordering in Linear Chain Crystals written by J. W. Stout and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The heat capacities of CuCl2 and CrCl2 have been measured between 11 and 300 K. The contributions to the entropy and heat capacity arising from the ordering of the magnetic moments are evaluated. Maxima in the heat capacity are found at 23.91 + or - 0.1 K for CuCl2 and 16.06 + or 0.05 K for CrCl2. Both compounds show gradual maxima in the magnetic contribution to the heat capacity at higher temperatures. By use of the Ising model to describe interactions within a chain and a molecular field to describe the secondary interactions, an approximate theoretical treatment is given. Smooth values of the heat capacity, entropy, enthalpy, and free energy are tabulated at selected temperatures. (Author).

Book Synopsis Solid State Chemical Sensors by : Jiri Janata
Download or read book Solid State Chemical Sensors written by Jiri Janata and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solid State Chemical Sensors reviews the basic chemical and physical principles involved in the construction and operation of solid state sensors. A major portion of the book is devoted to explanation of the basic mechanism of operation and the many actual and potential applications of field effect transistors for gas and solution sensing. This text is comprised of four chapters; the first of which describes the basics of device fabrication. Emphasis is placed on the physical description of semiconductor devices with catalytic metal gates, along with their drawbacks and their promise. The behavior of hydrogen in the Pd-SiO2 system is also considered, and some applications of hydrogen-sensitive transistors, such as smoke detection and biochemical reaction monitoring, are described. The second chapter focuses on chemically sensitive field effect transistors and their thermodynamics, while the third chapter explains the general fabrication procedure for solid state chemical sensors. The final chapter introduces the reader to piezoelectric and pyroelectric chemical sensors, paying particular attention to the sensor nature of piezoelectricity, the piezoelectric gravimetric sensor, and pyroelectric gas analysis. This book is intended to assist electrical engineers in understanding the chemistry involved in the construction and operation of solid state sensors and to educate chemists in solid state science.

Book Synopsis Advances in Liquid Chromatography by : Toshihiko Hanai
Download or read book Advances in Liquid Chromatography written by Toshihiko Hanai and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a contemporary review of selected subjects in liquid chromatography, especially of the technical development, rather than the applications. The subjects are focused in the biomedical and environmental fields. This is also a troubleshooting record. Complex analytical problems such as sensitivity (sensitive detection by chemiluminescence, coulometric detection, laser based detection, necessity of degassing the system for sensitive detection), difficulty (free radical detection by Electron Spin Resonance, Polarimeter for chiral recognition) and reproducibility (packings for chiral separation and stable bonded silica gels) are solved. Theoretically and environmentally important miniaturizations are described. Individual chapters written by specialists provide information beyond what can be found in general textbooks of liquid chromatography.
