This Fox of Mine: An Entertaining Look into Life at Fox Hollow tells her remarkable true story. The book begins with her most ornery fox, Rascal, and describes his pranks and the things she learned while trying to outfox her fox. She got her first pet fox in 1992, and had to learn everything about raising and training it. The book continues through the lives of ten foxes she has had as pets and each one's personality. "They have all amazed me with their ability to adapt and learn, as well as teach me to connect with them on their level. The fox is a very playful animal that requires special consideration if you want to have one as a pet," she says. This Fox of Mine shows what a truly unique and special animal a fox is. "The book finishes with the death of one of my older foxes and how it affects the others, then finalizes with my thoughts about having a fox as a pet."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the spring of 2015, I became very ill. For eighteen months, I could barely get off the couch. I was sick, had no energy, my anxiety went out of control, and I sank into a deep depression. In Compass to Healing: My Journey to Wellness, I share what happened to me when I finally gave up trying to fix, control, and micromanage the universe to protect my family and heal myself. Compass to Healing: My Journey to Wellness tells the story of my surrender to a higher power and the gifts and guidance that came to me in the form of a voice, signs, and messages, many of which I received from family, friends, and strangers, as I began to experiment with connecting, trusting, and communicating with that higher realm of power. In Compass to Healing: My Journey to Wellness, I begin to discover my own inner compass and a way out of fear and anxiety, and, in doing so, regain my health and courage and find myself gifted with miracles, faith, hope, and the great, healing love of family and friends—love that was there all along, and love that carried me through. I interpret my healing journey using the spiritual lens of the traditional, indigenous, Andean Medicine Wheel and its four cardinal directions. In Compass to Healing: My Journey to Wellness, my healing journey takes me south and west and brings me into contact with beautiful events, places, and people—each with something important to teach me.

Book excerpt: Carol Miller makes a memorable debut in Murder and Moonshine, the first of an intriguing new mystery series. All small towns have secrets---and plenty of them---as every small-town waitress knows. Daisy is no different. A young, recently separated waitress at H & P's Diner in sleepy southwestern Virginia, she hears more than her fair share of neighborhood gossip while serving plates of hash and peach cobbler. But when a reclusive old man shows up at the diner one day, only to drop dead a few minutes later, Daisy quickly learns that some secrets are more dangerous to keep than others---especially when there are money and moonshine involved. The man's death was suspicious, and no longer sure who she can trust, Daisy turns sleuth while also seeking to protect her sick mother and keeping a handle on Aunt Emily, her goading, trigger-happy landlord. Caught between whiskey and guns, a handsome ATF agent and a moonshine-brewing sweet talker, and a painful past and a dangerous present, Daisy has her work cut out for her. There's trouble brewing in her small town, and before it passes, many secrets will come to light.

Book excerpt: #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts continues the thrilling trilogy of a town plagued by evil—and the three men and three women brought together by fate to fight it. For Fox, Caleb, Gage and the other residents of Hawkins Hollow, the number seven portends doom—ever since, as boys, they freed a demon trapped for centuries when their blood spilled upon The Pagan Stone… Now, as the dreaded seventh month looms before them, the men can feel the storm brewing. Already they are plagued by visions of death and destruction. But this year, they are better prepared, joined in their battle by three women who have come to The Hollow. Layla, Quinn, and Cybil are somehow connected to the demon, just as the men are connected to the force that trapped it. Since that day at The Pagan Stone, town lawyer Fox has been able to see into others’ minds, a talent he shares with Layla. He must earn her trust, because their link will help fight the darkness that threatens to engulf the town. But Layla is having trouble coming to terms with her newfound ability—and this intimate connection to Fox. She knows that once she opens her mind, she’ll have no defenses against the desire that threatens to consume them both… Don't miss the other books in the Sign of Seven Trilogy Blood Brothers The Pagan Stone

But that was not the end of the story. Those who survived, and those who were forever changed, shared their stories and began to heal. Near the site of the bomb blast, an American elm tree began to heal as well. People took care of the tree just as they took care of each other. The tree and its seedlings now offer solace to people around the world grappling with tragedy and loss."--Provided by publisher.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1838, the British government outlawed the slave trade, emancipated all of the slaves in its possessions, and began to interdict slave ships en route to the Americas. Almost at once, colonies that had depended on slave labour were faced with a liberated and unwilling labour force. At the same time, newly freed slaves in Sierra Leone (and later from America and elsewhere) were "persuaded" to emigrate to other British colonies to provide a new workforce to replace or augment remnants of the old. Some became paid labourers, others indentured servants. These two groups - one, English-speaking colonists; the other, new African immigrants - are the focus of this study of "receptive" communities in the West Indies. Adderley describes the formation of these settlements, and, working from scant records, tries to tease out information about the families of liberated Africans, the labour they performed, their religions, and the culture they brought with them. She addresses issues of gender, ethnicity, and identity, and concludes with a discussion of repatriation.

Book excerpt: This is a story about a warrior of the People, the Dakota nation. After extensive research, Gary Dallmann chose to write a story that recounts the exploits of White Fox, a warrior who was elevated to chief of the Dakota nation at the young age of twenty eight. As chief, he faced many challenges. This kind, intelligent man proved to be the right choice since he had the welfare of his people paramount in his mind. This is also a gripping tale of misplaced revenge against White Fox by Broken Face, a fierce warrior of the Tree People. His obsession ended the lives of many warriors. Worry over a demented enemy would have been sufficient to age a seasoned chief but to make things worse White Fox's spirit helper sent a message warning him of a dangerous and seemingly demonic pack of wolves invading the Dakota hunting grounds. The wolves were killing indiscriminately and their evil sport was not restricted to animals.

Meloux guides this stranger and his great niece, Cork O'Connor's wife, to safety deep inside the Boundary Waters, his home for more than a century. On the last journey he may ever take into this beloved land, Meloux must do his best to outwit the deadly mercenaries who follow. Meanwhile, in Aurora, Cork works feverishly to identify the hunters and the reason for their relentless pursuit, but he has little to go on. In desperation, Cork begins tracking the killers, but his own skills in the wild are severely tested by a late season snowstorm. He knows only too well that with each passing hour time is running out. His fiercest enemy in this deadly game of cat and mouse may be his own deep self-doubt about his ability to save those he loves"--Dust jacket flap.

It's the closest you'll ever find to magic in this world... Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett's father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over. But this year, Scarlett's long-dreamt of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval's mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season's Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner. Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But she nevertheless becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with the other players in the game. And whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, a dangerous domino effect of consequences is set off, and her sister disappears forever.
