With its spacious rooms and quiet neighborhood, it felt like a dream come true. Little did they know, their dream was about to twist into a nightmare beyond their darkest imagination. The first few weeks were uneventful. There were a few strange occurrences, like a glass or two falling to the floor and a picture frame inexplicably tumbling from the wall. But these were minor inconveniences that could be easily explained away. The family laughed them off, too caught up in the excitement of their new life to pay much attention. Chrissy, the eldest, was the first to notice something truly unsettling. She claimed to hear faint whispers and footsteps in the attic, even though she knew there was no one up there. At first, she dismissed it as the house settling or her imagination running wild. But as the days passed, the whispers grew louder, more insistent. They seemed to call her name, beckoning her to the attic. She resisted, fear gnawing at her insides. Damon, the younger child, started complaining about cold spots in his room, as if someone or something was standing nearby. He would wake up in the middle of the night, shivering uncontrollably, his breath visible in the frigid air even though it was the middle of summer. Sometimes, he swore he could see a figure standing in the corner of his room, watching him with glowing red eyes. Jan and Dean tried to dismiss these as childish fears. After all, moving to a new home could be stressful for children. But as the days turned into weeks, the occurrences became more frequent and more disturbing. They could no longer ignore the growing sense of dread that permeated their new home. One evening, while Jan was cooking dinner, a heavy vase fell from the shelf without any apparent reason. It shattered on the floor, sending shards flying. Jan screamed as a piece of pottery sliced her arm, drawing blood. Dean rushed into the kitchen to investigate, but there was no one else in the house. As he tended to Jan's wound, they both froze in horror. The blood from Jan's cut was moving across the floor, forming words: "GET OUT."
