Book excerpt: A stoner, an Instagram model, a Czech oligarch, and a missing unicorn. Nick Fox and Kate O'Hare have their work cut out for them in their weirdest, wildest adventure yet in this New York Times bestseller by Janet and Peter Evanovich. Straight arrow FBI Agent Kate O'Hare always plays by the rules. Charming Con Man Nicholas Fox makes them up as he goes along. She thinks he's nothing but a scoundrel. He thinks she just needs to lighten up. They're working together to tackle the out-of-bounds cases ordinary FBI agents can't touch. And, their relationship? Well, there hasn't been so much explosive chemistry since Nitro was introduced to Glycerin. Next on the docket: The mysterious disappearance of the Silicon Valley billionaire, known as the Big Kahuna. Kate's been assigned to find him but no one seems particularly keen on helping. His twenty-six year old adult actress wife-turned Instagram model wife and his shady Czech business partner are more interested in gaining control of his company. For that they need a dead body not a living Kahuna. The only lead they have is the Kahuna's drop-out son, who's living the dream in Hawaii - if your dream is starting your day with the perfect wave and ending it with a big bowl of weed. To get close to the Kahuna's son, Kate and Nick go undercover as a married couple in the big wave, bohemian, surfer community of Paia, Maui. Living a laid back, hippy-dippy lifestyle isn't exactly in Kate's wheelhouse, but the only thing more horrifying is setting up house with Nick Fox, even if he does look pretty gnarly on a longboard. If they don't catch a break soon, waves aren't the only thing she's going to be shredding (or bedding).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1914 Europe descended into a slaughter unlike anything that had been seen before. Yet, far from seeing the conflict as a tragedy, many men welcomed it as a healthy development for society, a relief from peace. The Great Adventure explores the intellectual trends that made war seem a natural and high expression of social values. This is not a book about the specific causes of World War I, but a study of the mood in which it could take place. What the book uncovers is a complex of deeply ingrained attitudes about manhood, sex, power, maturity, boredom, and war that defined a culture in which war came to be seen as a positive option. Although the book focuses on attitudes in Great Britain and the United States of nearly a century ago, it makes a remarkably contemporary statement about men, women, and the culture of war., reviewing a previous edition or volume

Filled with swashbuckling action, pirates, and high seas battles, this fanciful tale is set against the historic backdrop of sixteenth-century Ireland, Scotland, and England, where the English are foxes, wolves, and hawks, and the Irish and Scots are rabbits, squirrels, badgers, and bears. “Buckle your swash and prepare to have your timbers shivered, that’s Tam O’Hare on the horizon. Whether Tam is hauling up the mainsail or scaling the castle wall, Scotty Roberts paints the reader right into the middle of every adventure.” —Ian Punnett, radio talk show host, Coast to Coast AM “Not only is Tam O’Hare a rollicking good adventure full of fantastic characters and twists and turns that will keep kids and adults alike riveted, but Scotty’s art in beautiful eye-popping color is truly magical and brings the story fully to life! This belongs in every family’s library to read over and over again!” —Dan Madsen, founder of official Star Wars and Star Trek fan clubs “Tam O’Hare left my kids and I breathless and decidedly more Scottish. A rollicking tale fit for anyone brave enough to venture into it!”—Grant Wilson of Syfy Channel’s Ghost Hunters

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a time when folklore and superstition are prevalent and animal spirits are totem guides, the Kingdom of Durundal can be a mysterious place - and for a child who is different, it can be cruel. Ajeya is a girl with a secret when she is banished into the wilderness by her father, Emperor Gnaeus of Ataxata. Close to death and sheltered by her mother, she is found and accepted by the clans who give her protection for many years - until the day a rumble can be heard in the distance and an enemy breaches the horizon intent on death and destruction - but who or what do they want? Facing an army with unfathomable strength and resources, the situation is hopeless......or is it?If you like realistic personalities and well crafted worlds then you will love A Hare in the Wilderness - a tale of those who refuse to give up and surrender - a tale of those who face their fears and conquer. With strong, resilient characters in Ajeya and Keao, and others whom are less forgiving like the Emperor and his henchman the General; you are drawn into a story of love, strength and honour. For this is the Kingdom of Durundal, where those darkest secrets of the unknown test even the bravest souls. -Book 1 in the Kingdom of Durundal series--Review from amazon.comThis is probably one of the best-written books I've ever read, the descriptions were so beautiful, the words were poetic. The author really has an amazing way with words. What is more, the plot is also as captivating. Ajeya is cast aside by her father, the Emperor because she has a disfigurement by birth. The story begins with her telling her tale of strength, love, and courage as she fights the prejudices of the people and slowly realizes who she is, the heir to the Empire of Ataxata. Characters were well developed, so likable, from Dainn to Hagen and Keao and many others. Such a heartwarming beautiful story that should appeal to all ages. I'm looking forward to reading the second book in the series.
