The evil is already in you How many times do we promise ourselves not to make the same mistakes again, not to react abruptly, but then at the first opportunity we reproduce the same deleterious behaviour again, which harms the relationship with those around us and the people we interact with every day? How many times in our daily lives do we behave irrationally, getting angry, and frightened in objectively uncompromising situations? How many times do we let our emotional memory, i.e. our past, make us react to the situation of the moment when clearly the circumstance of now has nothing to do with what happened to us a long time ago? We probably all experience these dilemmas, which is why inner work on oneself is fundamental, so that we are truly free to choose according to our real needs of the moment, and stop being victims at the mercy of the 'conditioning chain' formed by the thoughts-past-emotions complex. Making the right choices, without them being dictated solely by reason or conditioned solely by completely unconscious and automatic emotional impulses, is an important part of our journey of awakening. It is difficult to change oneself, one's own debilitating emotional reactions, one's own negativity, and one's own unconscious conflictuality, which constitute the 'bad' side within each of us. Consciously changing oneself is one of the most difficult tasks, yet it is an indispensable stage in our personal transformation; it is an arduous task, but we must not be discouraged by the difficulty of the manoeuvre; on the contrary, it is precisely the difficulties that make us grow. This is why changing ourselves is vital to transforming the world, and true revolution can only start with a profound inner change. We must recognise that in us we have both good and evil, it is up to us to choose which path to take and which side of the coin to pursue. We can decide, in every moment of our lives, whether to be on the right side to uplift ourselves and society, or to give in to our baser instincts, turning our lives and consequently the very world we live in into a perpetual earthly hell. The choice is ours. It is already within us. Translator: Alessandra Cervetti PUBLISHER: TEKTIME

Book excerpt: Just about 1625 years ago, during the Roman Emperor Flavius Theodosius Augustus, or Theodosius the Great, the Roman general Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus, around 394, wrote in Latin the book "Epitoma Rei Militaris" or "De re militari" (Concerning Military Matters), in which he mentions "Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum", later simplified as "Si vis pacem, para bellum", which means "If you want peace, prepare for war".Well, after over 1625 years of wars after wars after wars, the over 7.7 billions of people on Earth demand a change: Si vis pacem, para PACEM! No need to translate, but if you insist: If you want peace, prepare for PEACE!On 24 November 2019 Pope Francis called for a 'world without nuclear weapons' during his Nagasaki visit.Using a lovely imaginary dialog between Sun and Earth, this book is exactly what we need to really prepare for peace, with clear and practical ideas, which will help the over 7.7 B people to have a Harmonious World, with Sustainable Peace, Freedom, Health, Friendship and Prosperity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over two thousand years ago, Sun Tzu wrote The Art of War. In today’s struggle to stop war, terrorism, and other global problems, West Point graduate Paul K. Chappell offers new and practical solutions in his pioneering book, The Art of Waging Peace. By sharing his own personal struggles with childhood trauma, racism, and berserker rage, Chappell explores the anatomy of war and peace, giving strategies, tactics, and leadership principles to resolve inner and outer conflict. Chappell explains from a military perspective how Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. were strategic geniuses, more brilliant and innovative than any general in military history, courageous warriors who advanced a more effective method than waging war for providing national and global security. This pragmatic and richly instructive book shows how we can become active citizens with the skills and strength to defeat injustice and end all war.

Book excerpt: The perfect gift! A specially priced, beautifully designed hardcover edition of The Joy of the Gospel with a foreword by Robert Barron and an afterword by James Martin, SJ. “The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus… In this Exhortation I wish to encourage the Christian faithful to embark upon a new chapter of evangelization marked by this joy, while pointing out new paths for the Church’s journey in years to come.” – Pope Francis This special edition of Pope Francis's popular message of hope explores themes that are important for believers in the 21st century. Examining the many obstacles to faith and what can be done to overcome those hurdles, he emphasizes the importance of service to God and all his creation. Advocating for “the homeless, the addicted, refugees, indigenous peoples, the elderly who are increasingly isolated and abandoned,” the Holy Father shows us how to respond to poverty and current economic challenges that affect us locally and globally. Ultimately, Pope Francis demonstrates how to develop a more personal relationship with Jesus Christ, “to recognize the traces of God’s Spirit in events great and small.” Profound in its insight, yet warm and accessible in its tone, The Joy of the Gospel is a call to action to live a life motivated by divine love and, in turn, to experience heaven on earth. Includes a foreword by Robert Barron, author of Catholicism: A Journey to the Heart of the Faith and James Martin, SJ, author of Jesus: A Pilgrimage

Book excerpt: What does 'Blessed are the peacemakers' mean in practice? When is war a just war? Should outsiders intervene in civil wars, and how? How can Christians effectively engage in resolving conflict? How do we achieve reconciliation? Peter Dixon offers a moral framework on which to base our thinking about war and peace, undergirded by a solid confidence in God's sovereignty, as we face the uncertainty of the real world. 'I don't think we need to take responsibility for righting all the wrongs of the world like Superman.' he says. 'It is enough for us to do what we can, when we can, where we can.' Peacemakers evolves at another level too. As the author takes us down an icy Kabul street, or allows us to observe children celebrating a shaky peace in South Sudan, we experience first-hand the backcloth against which international peacebuilding takes place. Some comments on Peacemakers 'A work of extraordinary relevance in today’s troubled and volatile times', Lord (Richard) Dannatt, former head of the British Army. 'A gentle, wise and helpful companion as we try to make sense of the conflicts in our world', Ram Gidoomal CBE, Chairman of Traidcraft, Stewardship and Cotton Connect. 'Given the importance of peace in Christian priorities, I hope this book will be given the attention it deserves', Michael Schluter CBE, Founder of the Jubilee Centre, Relationships Foundation and Relationships Global. 'A thought-provoking and engaging book.', Air Commodore Mark Leakey, former Director Armed Forces’ Christian Union.

And what guidance do they offer for believers today–in the midst of global conflict? In When God Says War Is Right, Dr. Darrell Cole offers thorough and highly readable answers. His expert examination focuses on these topics: • Relating the character of God with the use of force • Relating the character of God with the use of force • Determining when and how Christians ought to fight • Understanding why Christian virtues are vital when using force • Using nuclear weapons for deterrence • Learning lessons from World War II, Vietnam, and the 1991 Gulf War • Responding to today’s war against terrorism Dr. Cole focuses on Romans 13, where Paul commands us to “do what is right” (or “good” or “noble”) in regard to our governing authorities, who have legitimate war-making authority. In the case of war, what is “right” for the Christian? This book answers that essential question. In today’s war-stricken world, Dr. Cole provides timely, trustworthy, and vitally needed guidance for Christians.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a contribution to the Christian ethics of war and peace. It advances peacebuilding as a needed challenge to and expansion of the traditional framework of just war theory and pacifism. It builds on a critical reading of historical landmarks from the Bible through Augustine, Aquinas, the Reformers, Christian peace movements, and key modern figures like Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Reinhold Niebuhr, and recent popes. Similar to just-war theory, peacebuilding is committed to social change and social justice but includes some theorists and practitioners who accept the use of force in extreme cases of self-defense or humanitarian intervention. Unlike just-war theorists, they do not see the justification of war as part of the Christian mission. Unlike traditional pacifists, they do see social change as necessary and possible and, as such, requiring Christian participation in public efforts. Cahill argues that transformative Christian social participation is demanded by the gospel and the example of Jesus, and can produce the avoidance, resolution, or reduction of conflicts. And yet obstacles are significant, and expectations must be realistic. Decisions to use armed force against injustice, even when they meet the criteria of just war, will be ambiguous and tragic from a Christian perspective. Regarding war and peace, the focus of Christian theology, ethics, and practice should not be on justifying war but on practical and hopeful interreligious peacebuilding.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: GOD HAS PREPARED US TO DO BATTLE! Are You Ready for War? presents a fresh, unique approach to exposing the revelations in Ephesians from both a literal and thematic point of view. This study is for mature believers who are boldly serious about receiving revelations from God’s Word. It presents a broad overview of the spiritual life of a believer for equipping to endure and win spiritual battles. This book also presents a comprehensive understanding of Satan’s wiles and powers. The final portion of the book shares all resources any believer needs to win the war! My daughters, Carolyn Steidley and Melissa Mc Creary and I had been ministering, counseling, and teaching as a team in the deliverance ministry for over 14 years. To be more effective, in 1996 I decided to pursue a degree at Fresno City and Fresno Pacific Colleges majoring in Speech and Interpersonal Communication with classes in Psychology and Biblical Studies. In 2001, Carolyn and I started the California Glory Riders, a team traveling the U.S., performing on white horses and ministering in word and song at rodeos, prisons and civic events, lifting up “One Nation Under God”. In April of 2007, the Glory Riders were selected as one of the four equine teams in the U.S. to participate in the 95th Cherry Blossom Festival at Washington, D.C. “Are You Ready for War” was birthed from counseling Christians who do not recognize their position in the body of Christ, or how to implement the essential tools needed to be victorious against the enemy.

Book excerpt: Conflict resolution. Strategy for success. Contemplation. What is most interesting about the discussion of the Art of War and Peace (AWP) is the necessity of establishing a basic understanding of the title. If the understanding of name is not comprehended, the reason for the composition becomes unclear. It is my intention is for the reader to understand that the rules governing the Art of War are the same rule that govern the Art of Peace. The aims that govern one, govern the other and it is logically essential that to understand one, we must understand the other. We can only understand the nature of conflict resolution if we understand the causes of conflict. What marries the Art of War and Peace is the concept that armed conflict should be avoided as expressed in the words of Sung Tzu, "The superior person wins his battles without fighting." The reality of The Art of War and the Art of Peace is that conflict is inevitable. Therefore we should prepare ourselves for this reality. The resolution of conflict comes from our own ability to overcome it by knowledge of the rules of engagement. Conflict survives because of doctrines of attrition. Attrition extends our reasons to commit to conflict, limiting our sight and vision that are necessary to continue forward. The Art of War and Peace is a training guide that is essential to those who wish to create a greater meaning of what we do. The words and meaning will be out of reach to those who are orthodox in their understanding. The reality is, "We are only limited by the beliefs we have." If our beliefs are expandable, we will understand well the art.

Book excerpt: The biblical title 'The Prince of Peace' leaves us in no doubt that God's purpose in Jesus Christ is to bring peace - universal peace, both with God and with our neighbours. But have we really understood what this peace might look like, especially in a world of wars and suffering?David Kerrigan sees the coming of Jesus at Christmas as central to the divine plan to bring peace to the world. Through reflection on biblical texts and mission stories he locates God at the centre of our mission and encourages us to restore the peace, joy and hope that come from accompanying Jesus.

Book excerpt: Once the smoke of the battlefield blows away, what are the moral requirements of the "victor"? While most studies of just war focus on the rationale for going to war and the conduct of the war, this important book examines the period after the conflict. What must be done to restore justice? In the words of the authors, "`Victory' is declared by presidents and other leaders, yet all too often no just peace is to be found in the wake of today's conflicts....After the smoke clears, the powers that be may declare `mission accomplished' when, as Ezekiel long ago said, there really is no peace." "Allman and Winright provide readers with a clear, concise, balanced, and informed assessment of an important topic in debates about modern warfare: the issue of moral duties in a post-conflict situation."---Kenneth R. Himes, O.F.M., Boston College "Timely and readable...Shows us not only that nations have responsibilities after war `ends,' but also that reconstructing societies requires specific processes of restoration."---Lisa Sowle Cahill, Boston College
