Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book attempts to reconceive the Trinity. Its thesis is that the Father beget the Son in or by the Holy Spirit. The Spirit proceeds from the Father as the one in whom the Son is begotten. While some contemporary authors have proposed a similar view, no-one has done so in such a complete and systematic fashion. Reconceiving the Trinity in this way has a number of advantages. Firstly, it is more in keeping with the New Testament proclamation, and thus it more closely aligns the economic and immanent Trinity. Secondly, it overcomes the inadequacies of traditional trinitarian formulations, in both Eastern and Western Churches, which incorporates erroneous philosophical presuppositions. Thirdly, it offers a resolution to the filioque controversy, which may be acceptable to both the Latin and the Orthodox Churches. This book is, therefore, highly ecumenical in importance. Fourthly, it gives a more active and essential role to the Holy Spirit within the immanent Trinity, something that has been lacking throughout the trinitarian tradition. The true subjectivity or personality of the Holy Spirit is more clearly defined. This book brings out the spiritual and practical importance of the Trinity for the everyday lives of Christians. It defines more clearly how Christians are grafted into the very life of the Trinity: how they come to relate to the persons of the Trinity in a manner analogous to the way they relate to one another.

Book excerpt: The "spirit of sonship" is an apostolic grace which brings about the spiritual maturity of the believer, the revival of apostolic Christianity, and ultimately, the maturity of the church in preparation for the coming of Christ. This important book reveals that the values and heart attitudes of what we may call the spirit of sonship is the very nature and essence of authentic apostolic New Testament Christianity. You will discover a fresh approach to understanding and walking in grace, through relationships. The subject is huge, and wonderful; the whole of the Scriptures and all of salvation history must now be seen in the light of sonship and its implications.

Book excerpt: While we were still sinners and enemies of God, He chose to manifest His love for us by sending His son to be an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Now that we have become, not only friends, but His own children, most pulpit preaching invoke the law and make us ineligible to receive anything from God unless we became holy or did something good first. However, as children of God, we are already entitled to certain privileges or rights without having to earn or work for them. "He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him for us all __how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?" (Romans 8:32) My book explains in some detail what some of these rights are. By way of illustration, I related actual testimonies from my own life. Incidentally my testimonies relate to my eight-year stay in Concord and San Jose, CA. The privileges of a child of God which I have covered include revelation, guidance, assurance of eternal life, prosperity, divine health, access to God, ruling and reigning life, true freedom and unconditional love. If we are not aware that these are already in our heavenly account, we will be short-changed and miss out on the abundant blessings that God has lavished on us and has purposed for us to receive.

Book excerpt: Rarely Addressed Throughout Church History, the doctrine of adoption has seen fresh attention in recent years. Although valuable, contemporary studies have focused primarily on etymological, cultural, and pastoral considerations, giving little to no attention to vital systematic theological concerns. In this groundbreaking work, Professor David Garner examines the function of adoption in Pauline thought: its relationship to the doctrines of Christ, the Holy Spirit, eschatology, and union with Christ, as well as its primary place among the other benefits of salvation. Adoption frames Pauline soteriology, Garner argues, and defines the Trinitarian, familial context of redemption in Christ, the Son of God. Properly understood, adoption's paradigm-shifting implications extend deep and far. Book jacket.
