What do they all have in common? Each one, in its own way, has helped to plant a tree. In myriad ways and diverse environments, Mother Nature is given a hand in dispersing seeds that eventually grow into trees. From the apple seeds falling off the sticky fur of a black bear to the pine seed carried by an army of ants marching to their anthill, creatures great and creatures small participate in nature's cyclical dance in the planting of a tree. Jerry Pallotta, author of more than 50 children's books, visits at least 150 schools each year. His book, The Icky Bug Alphabet Book, has sold more than one million copies. He is a contributor in Jon Scieszka's book,Guys Write for Guys Read. He lives in Needham, Massachusetts. Tom Leonard's children's book art combines a folk-art sophistication with a scientifically realistic interpretation. He was the illustrator for a collection of Margaret Wise Brown's previously unpublished poetry, Under the Sun and the Moon, winning praise in School Library Journal and Publisher's Weekly. He lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Book excerpt: First of all, I am giving thanks in front of the Most Merciful Almighty. There is no substitute for a good GPA in HSC if you want to move forward in the current era of success. But at HSC we do badly in English. I have not been able to read English since childhood. After reading the same tick for so many years, the students have to go to the private tutor for HSC for English. I wrote the book ‘English A +’ to get rid of all these problems. There is a video class created by me which is taken on Nahid24 YouTube channel so that you don't have to read any problem while reading the book. If a student takes the book in hand and conducts all the YouTube classes regularly then he / she will not need any other private tutor. In HSC English 1st and 2nd paper questions come from certain topics but students cannot finish even half of it at the end of the year by reading a very thick book. But if someone reads only the necessary topics well for 2 months, then he will be able to get good results in English. If any student can finish this book completely, I hope he will get A + in English 1st and 2nd 2 subjects InshaAllah. This book is completely different from other books. There is nothing less important in the book. So nothing should be left out. Each topic is given a writing technique and some important examples. By mastering the techniques and practicing the examples, one can overcome the weakness of HSC English in a short time. If he can master the book well then he will succeed in HSC exam InshaAllah. I think my hard work and effort will be successful only if the students benefit from reading this book. Since no book other than the Qur'an alone is perfect, and man is not above error, so reluctantly, if there is any mistake in the book, you will look at it with forgiveness.

Book excerpt: Bridges the gap between global farmers and fishermen and American consumers America now imports twice as much food as it did a decade ago. What does this increased reliance on imported food mean for the people around the globe who produce our food? Kelsey Timmerman set out on a global quest to meet the farmers and fisherman who grow and catch our food, and also worked alongside them: loading lobster boats in Nicaragua, splitting cocoa beans with a machete in Ivory Coast, and hauling tomatoes in Ohio. Where Am I Eating? tells fascinating stories of the farmers and fishermen around the world who produce the food we eat, explaining what their lives are like and how our habits affect them. This book shows how what we eat affects the lives of the people who produce our food. Through compelling stories, explores the global food economy including workers rights, the global food crisis, fair trade, and immigration. Author Kelsey Timmerman has spoken at close to 100 schools around the globe about his first book, Where Am I Wearing: A Global Tour of the Countries, Factories, and People That Make Our Clothes He has been featured in the Financial Times and has discussed social issues on NPR's Talk of the Nation and Fox News Radio Where Am I Eating? does not argue for or against the globalization of food, but personalizes it by observing the hope and opportunity, and sometimes the lack thereof, which the global food economy gives to the world's poorest producers.

Book excerpt: CONQUER COMPREHENSION WORKBOOK 5 is designed for students to practise and work on answering the different types of comprehension questions found in the multiple-choice and open-ended formats. The passages are carefully graded into three levels: Basic, Intermediate, Advanced. The main objective of the Basic level is to lay the foundation to build up a student’s confidence in tackling comprehension. In the Intermediate level, the passages encourage higher-level thinking and understanding. The Advanced level challenges a student to think beyond the ideas presented in the passages. The wide variety of themes and genres also serve to widen a student’s exposure to the different text types which are currently taught in schools. The different questioning techniques aim to develop a student’s comprehension and inference skills. Thinking questions are incorporated to allow a student to exercise his opinions and make his conclusions. A glossary is included after every exercise to help students comprehend the passage better. It also increases a student’s vocabulary and will aid in other writing, reading and comprehension exercises. These varied and useful exercises should give a student greater confidence when doing comprehension tests.
