Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first pure translation into English of the actual words of the Apostles - not influenced by creeds, traditions or the preconceptions of the translators. The actual words - not what was thought that they meant. The culmination of over two decades of intense scholarship and in-depth research by an academic frustrated with the repeated inaccuracies of centuries. "This translation unmasks historic twisting of the original Gospel message to support particular beliefs. It will be as controversial as John Wycliffe's first translation into English which was declared illegal for anyone to read by the church which had him declared a heretic." The Bible for a long time has been the world's number one selling book. Since the first English translation in 1380, more than 630 years ago, there have been around 150 English translations. So why do we need another one? Author, scholar, poet and grammar expert Christopher Sparkes from Petersfield, has spent twenty years painstakingly going back to the original Greek and Hebrew, and has identified "a thousand blunders" which have been repeatedly left uncorrected. Over the centuries, as translators strived to make the language more "modern" and understandable, so many errors and mistranslations have occurred that many of the original meanings have been obscured, or even lost. The acid test, according to Sparkes, is that if you translate the English versions back to their original Greek or Hebrew, they are too often nowhere near the original. So what has gone wrong? The problem facing translators is that they already knew - or thought they knew - the stories and teachings they were translating, so when the original Greek or Hebrew didn't quite fit with them, they "fidgeted" the words to make them fit with what they believed. Words have been added, taken away or changed to fit with specific creeds or beliefs. As George Gershwin wrote "The things that you're liable to read in the Bible - it ain't necessarily so!"

Book Synopsis Rethinking Hell by : Christopher M. Date
Download or read book Rethinking Hell written by Christopher M. Date and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2014-04-15 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most evangelical Christians believe that those people who are not saved before they die will be punished in hell forever. But is this what the Bible truly teaches? Do Christians need to rethink their understanding of hell? In the late twentieth century, a growing number of evangelical theologians, biblical scholars, and philosophers began to reject the traditional doctrine of eternal conscious torment in hell in favor of a minority theological perspective called conditional immortality. This view contends that the unsaved are resurrected to face divine judgment, just as Christians have always believed, but due to the fact that immortality is only given to those who are in Christ, the unsaved do not exist forever in hell. Instead, they face the punishment of the "second death"--an end to their conscious existence. This volume brings together excerpts from a variety of well-respected evangelical thinkers, including John Stott, John Wenham, and E. Earl Ellis, as they articulate the biblical, theological, and philosophical arguments for conditionalism. These readings will give thoughtful Christians strong evidence that there are indeed compelling reasons for rethinking hell.
Book Synopsis The Evangelical Universalist by : Gregory MacDonald
Download or read book The Evangelical Universalist written by Gregory MacDonald and published by SPCK. This book was released on 2012-11-15 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can an orthodox Christian, committed to the historic faith of the Church and the authority of the Bible, be a universalist? Is it possible to believe that salvation is found only by grace, through faith in Christ, and yet to maintain that in the end all people will be saved? Can one believe passionately in mission if one does not think that anyone will be lost forever? Could universalism be consistent with the teachings of the Bible? In The Evangelical Universalist the author argues that the answer is ‘yes!’ to all of these questions. Weaving together philosophical, theological, and biblical considerations, he seeks to show that being a committed universalist is consistent with the central teachings of the biblical texts and of historic Christian theology.

This translation is of course in public domain, free to the public to copy and use like all of my writings. Only thing is when it comes to copying and pasting Matthew it might come out in a other language for some reason. But if you can fix that by photo copying go ahead.

Book excerpt: For nineteen centuries and counting, the Church has been made to look like a joke in the eyes of the world as predictions of Christ's Second Coming or Return and other related end-time events have supposedly come and gone without fulfillment. This book offers a unique solution. Herein, the author analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the four major views, discards their weaknesses, and synthesizes their strengths into one meaningful, coherent, and cogent view that is more Christ-honoring, Scripture-authenticating, and faith-validating than any one view in and of itself. The four views in order of their prominence today are: dispensational premillennialism, amillennialism, postmillennialism, and preterism.

Book Synopsis George MacDonald and the Late Great Hell Debate by : Michael Phillips
Download or read book George MacDonald and the Late Great Hell Debate written by Michael Phillips and published by Rosetta Books. This book was released on 2018-10-28 with total page 475 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The leading MacDonald scholar settles the longstanding debate about the author’s views on hell with an in-depth analysis of his thought on the afterlife. Throughout his extensive and influential writings on Christian theology, George MacDonald only hints at his perspectives on hell, atonement, and everlasting punishment. Nowhere does he clearly state a doctrinal position on the subject. As a result, a controversy has raged for more than a century about whether or not MacDonald was a universalist. Now MacDonald scholar and biographer Michael Phillips tackles the “great hell debate” head on in this authoritative book. With numerous quotes from MacDonald’s writings and his extensive knowledge of MacDonald’s work, Phillips blows the lid off the debate by illuminating the full scope of MacDonald’s afterlife vision. One of the most significant studies of MacDonald’s theological perspectives ever written, this is a must-read for all serious students of George MacDonald.
Book Synopsis Doctrine of the Eons by : Paige-Patric J. D. Samuels
Download or read book Doctrine of the Eons written by Paige-Patric J. D. Samuels and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-06-13 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Doctrine of the Eons: God's Immutable Plan is an account of how God will bring about the salvation and reconciliation of all mankind. Each chapter provides a theological account of how this will be accomplished, including dispelling common myths about God and focusing on the meaning of the word "immutable." This leads to a discussion of the Hebrew and Greek definitions of "eon" and "eternal," and we discover that neither the Old nor the New Testament uses the word "eternal." "Eternal" tends to refer to an indefinite amount of time, whereas "eon" is more definite; the latter term is primarily used when the Bible talks about the end-times. Finally, the doctrine of universal salvation is presented, arguing that God will have all men be saved and that he will eventually reconcile all creation.
Book Synopsis Vindicating God by : Troy J. Edwards
Download or read book Vindicating God written by Troy J. Edwards and published by Troy Edwards. This book was released on with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are sincere worshippers of Christ who are quite ignorant of how to deal with difficult passages in the Bible that might be used by God’s enemies to paint a false picture of Him. Many remain confused as to how to deal with passages that seem to go against what they know by their experience is a loving God. I believe that these daily devotions can assist believers in this endeavor. When one meditates daily on the truth of God’s character then they will not be easily swayed by those who speak against it. They will see that there are better ways to understand the passages often presented by those who choose to denigrate God’s character.
