Book Synopsis Thomas Jefferson Royal Ancestry by : Thomas Miller
Download or read book Thomas Jefferson Royal Ancestry written by Thomas Miller and published by . This book was released on 2016-07-01 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an introduction and survey of the genealogical royal ancestry of Thomas Jefferson, President of the United States. The initial inspiration for this book was a book written by Gary Boyd Roberts (1995), however, this present book has increased the number of royal ancestry lines, and increased the genealogical information of the persons within each of the genealogical lineages, specifically in the addition of the years of birth and death, if known, of each person in the genealogical lineages, from the royal ancestor to the President. This book is not an absolutely complete compilation of royal ancestry lineages, but instead merely a selection of some of the royal ancestry lines, mostly connecting to the most recent royal ancestors. Some of the genealogical information within each of the royal ancestry lineages is obtained from books, which are listed in the line references and the bibliography, books personally owned by this author, but much of the genealogical information has been obtained from internet sources. By examination of the various internet genealogy sources, there has been the attempt by this author to choose what appeared to be the most reliable internet genealogy sources. The numbering of the genealogy lineages in this book is somewhat arbitrary in sequence, although the lines were usually initially numbered from the most recent royal ancestor, and subsequent lines usually tending toward lines with royal ancestors in the more distant past. The royal ancestry lines in this book are numbered 1 thru 33.

Download or read book Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings written by Del Sandeen and published by Enslow Publishing, LLC. This book was released on 2018-12-15 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To say that Thomas Jefferson was complicated would be an understatement. A founding father and third American president, Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. It said that "all men are created equal." Yet Jefferson owned slaves, including a woman named Sally Hemings with whom scholars believe he fathered several children. Some two hundred years after the birth of their first child, interest in Hemings and Jefferson has hardly died down. Movies, television shows, newspaper articles, and literature have been devoted to the pair. Jefferson's legacy has also suffered as details emerge about his ties to Hemings. Is he a man that Americans should respect? With the help of this fascinating book, readers will learn about the nature of Jefferson's connection to someone who was legally his property, and about his descendants, both black and white.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now available in ebook format--one of the important books that marked the beginning of the ongoing conversation about slavery and our nation's history. From the sixth great-grandson of Thomas Jefferson and enslaved woman Sally Hemmings comes an anthology of Jefferson's living descendants. Told in the style of a family photo album—with a combination of photographs and interviews—Jefferson’s Children is the riveting story of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemming’s sixth great-grandson, Shannon Lanier’s, travels across the country to meet his relatives from both sides of the family. The profiles contained chart the multiple perspectives of Jefferson’s and Hemming’s descendants, from those who embrace their heritage to those who want nothing to do with Jefferson’s legacy. A fascinating picture soon emerges, one that begins with a pairing of two individuals with vastly disparate levels of power—on the one side, the third president of the United States and the author of the Declaration of Independence; on the other, the woman who was his property—and that ultimately represents America’s complicated history with issues of diversity and race and the unusual ways in which we define family. An ALA Best Book for Young Adults “The portraits that emerge are as generous and jumbled as America itself.” —The New York Times “A book about American history, racial identity and the bonds of family that will help young people navigate these difficult areas.” —Black Issues Book Review
