Book excerpt: The Energy Evolution, the final volume in the revolutionary Eco-Technology series, contains radical environmentalist Viktor Schauberger's groundbreaking writings on methods for energy generation that harness the enormous potential of Nature. Nature produces energy by slow, cool, implosive means – by a centripetal inward motion, while our present culture uses explosive centrifugal (outwards) movement, which is wasteful and many times less powerful and effective. It also uses up the Earth's resources and pollutes her ecosystems. This volume describes different kinds of energy machines which depend on the principle of implosion: - A spring water-producing machine - A tornado home energy generator - A Klimator which produces mountain-quality air - The biotechnical submarine - A technique for producing power from ocean deeps - A flying saucer prototype which rose at fantastic speed to high altitudes - A perpetual motion suction-based implosion machineOne of the first genuine environmentalists, Schauberger was a pioneering genius who combined keen observation of Nature with intuitive brilliance and a sharp engineer's brain. His work is enjoying a worldwide revival because he was able to convey how an understanding of Nature's subtle energies is essential to our survival. This Fertile Earth contains his innovative theories as well as his very last letters on the subject, providing an alternative analysis of the unharnessed and vital power of Nature. The Eco-Technology series makes available for the first time Viktor Schauberger's original writings and passionate debates. Callum Coats has painstakingly collected, translated and edited the material for what promises to be the most definitive study yet of this extraordinary man's life and work. This Fertile Earth: Table of Contents Introduction - Some Philosophical Aspects of Natural Energies - New Forms of Temperature - New Forms of Motion and Energy - New Views of Electromagnetism - The Nature of Water, its Conduction and Use for Transport - The Air Turbine - Early Developments in Implosion Machines - The Ennoblement of Water - Machines of the Genus – Repulsator - The Klimator - Machines of the Genus – Repulsine - Last Letters from Viktor Schauberger - The Popel Report

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sometime around three million years ago, the first hominid walked on this planet. In the time which has elapsed since then, the descendant of this biped has evolved to reach the top of the food chain. Furthermore, it has manipulated other lifeforms and Earth’s resources in a manner that makes these entirely subservient to only one species, homo sapiens. In a period less than 0.007% of Earth’s age, man has dramatically altered both the biosphere and the climate. This text argues that intelligent manipulation of ‘energy’ is at the heart of human supremacy. Energy is intertwined in an intricate manner with everything that happens around us. From the very beginning, nearly three million years ago, up until today, the human race has evolved and progressed by gaining mastery and control over energy. This book presents an insightful description of the evolution of human civilization from an energy perspective, showing that ‘energy’ is the vehicle that has catapulted the human race to a commanding position on Earth. From rudimentary Stone Age tools to classical physics, from animal power to the steam engine, and from relativity and quantum theory to geo-politics and climate change, drawing upon multiple disciplines, it weaves a fascinating story of the history of “energy” in human civilization. It also discusses the “dark side” of energy, exemplified by climate change, pollution, and deforestation, which is compelling modern human civilization to once again go into an energy transition mode, as well as those forms of energy which can counteract such forces: renewable and smart energy and their associated innovations.

Book excerpt: Wise People from every tradition have spoken about the present as the time when humanity will either destroy themselves and the planet or awaken a new consciousness that will become the foundation for the evolution of a new species. Many people are now developing the gifts to envision a positive future based on our role as conscious creators. Using Vortex Energy is one way that we can assist with the present dimensional changes. Through special hand placements, the Vortex uses the electromagnetic energy field of our bodies to polarize our energy. The harmonizing energy of the Vortex aligns our Spirit Essence to wholeness, our mind to peace, and our physical body to healing, thus shifting our energy vibration and triggering DNA changes on a cellular level so that we can adapt and survive in the Fifth World. Spider puts thirty years of working with Vortex Energy into form in this beautiful book. Its filled with nuggets. My favorite paragraph is: We cannot assume that our own perception is best for manifesting evolutionary changes for ourselves, another person or even Mother Earth. Indeed, our personal perception may limit the possibilities of the Vortex. Therefore, once we create the Vortex, weallow the energy to do what it needs to do. Trust that you will be guided during this process. Amazing things happen for those who are sincerely ready to receive the abundance of the Universe. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the coordination of renewable energy policies in the European Union using an innovative theoretical approach to explain national policy making. David Jacobs asks, why are national support instruments for electricity from renewable energy sources converging, even though the harmonisation of these frameworks at the European level has failed? Which causal mechanisms lead to cross-national policy similarities? And what are the implications for policy coordination in the EU? The author traces the evolution of feed-in tariffs - the most successful and most widely used support mechanism for renewable electricity - in Germany, Spain and France. He reveals increasing cross-national policy similarities in feed-in tariff design - despite the failure of harmonizing instruments at the European level. He explains these increasing policy similarities by applying policy convergence theory. Policy convergence can occur voluntarily, based on transnational communication, regulatory competition and technological innovations and these findings have important implications for European policy steering. The key to this book is the interrelation of an innovative theoretical concept (coordination of policies in the international arena via voluntary cooperation) with a very topical empirical research focus - the promotion of renewable energies in the EU. It will be essential reading for scholars and students of environmental policy, comparative politics and European studies.

Book excerpt: A comprehensive account of how energy has shaped society throughout history, from pre-agricultural foraging societies through today's fossil fuel–driven civilization. "I wait for new Smil books the way some people wait for the next 'Star Wars' movie. In his latest book, Energy and Civilization: A History, he goes deep and broad to explain how innovations in humans' ability to turn energy into heat, light, and motion have been a driving force behind our cultural and economic progress over the past 10,000 years. —Bill Gates, Gates Notes, Best Books of the Year Energy is the only universal currency; it is necessary for getting anything done. The conversion of energy on Earth ranges from terra-forming forces of plate tectonics to cumulative erosive effects of raindrops. Life on Earth depends on the photosynthetic conversion of solar energy into plant biomass. Humans have come to rely on many more energy flows—ranging from fossil fuels to photovoltaic generation of electricity—for their civilized existence. In this monumental history, Vaclav Smil provides a comprehensive account of how energy has shaped society, from pre-agricultural foraging societies through today's fossil fuel–driven civilization. Humans are the only species that can systematically harness energies outside their bodies, using the power of their intellect and an enormous variety of artifacts—from the simplest tools to internal combustion engines and nuclear reactors. The epochal transition to fossil fuels affected everything: agriculture, industry, transportation, weapons, communication, economics, urbanization, quality of life, politics, and the environment. Smil describes humanity's energy eras in panoramic and interdisciplinary fashion, offering readers a magisterial overview. This book is an extensively updated and expanded version of Smil's Energy in World History (1994). Smil has incorporated an enormous amount of new material, reflecting the dramatic developments in energy studies over the last two decades and his own research over that time.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can human social evolution be described in terms common to other sciences, most specifically, as an energy process? The Eighth Day reflects a conviction that the human trajectory, for all its uniqueness and indeterminism, will never be satisfactorily understood until it is framed in dynamics that are common to all of nature. The problem in doing this, however, lies in ourselves. The major social theories have failed to treat human social evolution as a component of broader natural processes. The Eighth Day argues that the energy process provides a basis for explaining, comparing, and measuring complex social evolution. Using traditional ecological energy flow studies as background, society is conceived as a self-organization of energy. This perspective enables Adams to analyze society in term of the natural selection of self-organizing energy forms and the trigger processes basic to it. Domestication, civilization, socioeconomic development, and the regulation of contemporary industrial nation-states serve to illustrate the approach. A principal aim is to explore the limitation that energy process imposes on human social evolution as well as to clarify the alternatives that it allows. Richly informed by contemporary anthropological historicism, sociobiology, and Marxism, The Eighth Day avoids simple reductionism and denies facile ideological categorization. Adams builds on work in nonequilibrium thermodynamics and theoretical biology and brings three decades of his own work to an analysis of human society that demands an extreme materialism in which human thought and action find a central place.

Lorraine Voss takes us on a powerful journey of awareness and perception that awakens us to natural beauty and the realization of authentic being. In Becoming Awareness, Lorraine explores how our connection with the Earth facilitates the awakening of our vibrational frequencies, bringing us to states of higher consciousness and into realms of deeper awareness. Her insights motivate us to recognize ourselves as beings who are free to choose and create from the infinite possibilities that are available to us. She illuminates the patterns that prevent humanity from evolving and inspires us to feel, see, hear, and know our world from a place of stillness, a place of Spirit, a place of pure perception. Through stimulating conversations with seers, Nayeli and Alejandro, Lorraine identifies the following: Energy practices - why they are important and why they work. How to deepen our connection with the Earth in order to raise our vibrational frequency. Why integration is an essential component to a holistic level of being. Living in balance and freedom through our surrender to Universal Life-Force energy. The importance of sustainable evolution that ensures preservation and freedom. The journey is exhilarating and Lorraine's insights motivate us to recognize ourselves as beings who are free to connect with our true lineage, the genuine essence of our being. "A profoundly beautiful and inspiring message for our modern world, filled with wonderful humor and profound insights. Lorraine Voss shares her story with integrity and openness, offering a subtle and engaging journey into the traditional lineage of ancient wisdom that will deepen any reader's commitment to freedom." -John Major Jenkins, author of The 2012 Story and Mayan Sacred Science "I highly recommend this book, which comes from someone with a lifetime devotion to remaining awake and vitally alive by continually re-membering our human connection with the great Source of all life. Becoming Awareness will be of remarkable assistance to you if you wish to be nourished from the energetic connection with Earth; to keep your creative and supportive link with the wisdom of the universe; and to live in natural harmony with All-That-Is." -Brooke Medicine Eagle, author of Buffalo Woman Comes Singing and The Last Ghost Dance "In the spirit of Carlos Castaneda, Lorraine Voss traces her own revealing journey of discovery through her deep relationship with Mexican Seer Nayeli, who holds up the mirror of the Universe to Lorraine. What is revealed is the incredible image of nothingness, the womb of creation, and the realization for the need to recapitulate the man-made stories that deceive nearly all of humanity. Readers searching for knowledge and freedom from the man-made illusion, in which we are embedded, will find Lorraine's discoveries and reconnection to feminine energy very exciting." -G.
