Book Synopsis How Should We Then Live? by : Robert Wilson
Download or read book How Should We Then Live? written by Robert Wilson and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2014-08-11 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work differs from previous treatments of End Times Issues in the following ways. I present an analysis of the Greek New Testament scripture to explain why the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming are not imminent, which is consistent with the fact that these events have not occurred in the past 2000 years. I argue that the Scriptural descriptions of the destruction of the earth in the End Times is not consistent with the capabilities of nuclear weapons and that a different scenario is required to explain the scriptural description of 2 Peter 3 - the destruction of the earth by intense heat and burning and also the death of one-third of the people that inhabit the earth. I then suggest a scenario that is capable of causing the destruction of the earth and is caused by God not mankind, which is consistent with scripture. I present arguments that the scriptural conditions that must be met (occur) before the Rapture and Second Coming can occur are not likely to occur soon. I see no possibility of a ten-kings empire in Europe. If the entire ex-Roman Empire is considered, then it could be. I suggest that the ten nations are those of the old Roman Empire that are not in Europe - the ten that are closer to Israel and are all primarily Arab/Islamic. I give a scientific explanation of the 'streets of transparent gold' described in Revelation. I discuss scriptures individually that relate to The End Times.

Book Synopsis The End of the World as You Know It by : Matthew L. Halsted
Download or read book The End of the World as You Know It written by Matthew L. Halsted and published by Lexham Press. This book was released on 2024-02-07 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thinking about the end times isn't supposed to terrify you Christians rightly turn to the Bible to make sense of our times. But so often we get the wrong answers because we ask the wrong questions. In The End of the World as You Know It, Matthew L. Halsted challenges common end-times assumptions and points us back to Scripture. Each chapter reevaluates a popular question in light of the Bible's own concerns: Will Christians be raptured? What is the mark of the beast? When we let Scripture direct our questions, we get better—and more hopeful—answers. The Bible was written for us, but not to us. We must bridge the gap between Scripture's ancient context and our own. Reading end-times texts in their ancient context helps us understand our present and future. And when we do, we find that God's word brings peace, not fear and confusion.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the Biblical prophecies concerning "the Last Days". It looks at scriptures about the rapture of the church, the time of tribulation, the anti-christ, Armageddon, and the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. It argues for a literal interpretation of the Bible, and opposes the Amillennialist view of the end times. It looks at the signs that Jesus said would indicate His coming is near, including the fact that Israel is again a nation. It is the author's conclusion that the Lord will return for His believers very soon. William Bergsma was born in the Netherlands in 1927. He immigrated to Canada in 1953 when he was 25 years old, with his mother and 5 siblings. He met Jenny, who would later become his wife, on board the ship to Canada. They settled in Ontario where they raised 3 children. In 1977 Bill and his wife moved to Nanaimo, British Columbia, where he is now enjoying his retirement. Bill was raised in the Christian faith. He has been a devout member of the Christian Reformed Church all of his life. In recent years he has become especially interested in end time prophesies, many of which had always been unclear in the CRC. He has a passion for the Word of God. Bill takes pleasure in a simple life with his wife and family. He is an avid gardener and finds inspiration in nature, long walks along the seashore being a favorite pastime. He is deeply concerned by the growing presence of evil in today's world.
Book Synopsis The End of the Christian Life by : J. Todd Billings
Download or read book The End of the Christian Life written by J. Todd Billings and published by Brazos Press. This book was released on 2020-09-15 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We're all going to die. Yet in our medically advanced, technological age, many of us see death as a distant reality--something that happens only at the end of a long life or to other people. In The End of the Christian Life, Todd Billings urges Christians to resist that view. Instead, he calls us to embrace our mortality in our daily life and faith. This is the journey of genuine discipleship, Billings says: following the crucified and resurrected Lord in a world of distraction and false hopes. Drawing on his experience as a professor and father living with incurable cancer, Billings offers a personal yet deeply theological account of the gospel's expansive hope for small, mortal creatures. Artfully weaving rich theology with powerful narrative, Billings writes for church leaders and laypeople alike. Whether we are young or old, reeling from loss or clinging to our own prosperity, this book challenges us to walk a strange but wondrous path: in the midst of joy and lament, to receive mortal limits as a gift, an opportunity to give ourselves over to the Lord of life.
Book Synopsis Essentials of Catholic Radicalism by : Corneliu C. Simuţ
Download or read book Essentials of Catholic Radicalism written by Corneliu C. Simuţ and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2011 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book describes the fundamental tenets of Catholic Radicalism, defined as an understanding of Christianity from a perspective which dismisses the traditional supernatural image of God. The essentials of Catholic Radicalism are extracted from the works of Vito Mancuso, a lay Italian theologian, whose intention is to rebuild Christian theology starting from the natural and physical reality of this world. Mancuso insists that he is a Catholic theologian despite his conviction that God should be seen today in atheistic terms, which help us understand the world from a rational perspective. The use of reason in theology is compulsory for Mancuso in order for theology to make sense in the skeptical society of our times, which is characterized by a powerful lay consciousness.
