Acknowledging change, communicating it, knowing that things are going to be chaotic at times, but staying positive and working together to navigate the challenges and uncertainties. Being able to share with others, learn from each other, supporting a just culture that avoids blame but upholds accountability and working together on a shared, understood mission. Watch for and capitalize on windows of opportunity. We learn more and more each day. We all continue to learn and grow through different roles, different life experiences, and the sharing of these stories with one another. My request is for everyone to keep a spirit of inquiry alive and ask questions, seek answers, share stories, be courageous and be nice.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acclaimed writers, family, friends, and more pay homage to the celebrated Southern author of The Prince of Tides and The Great Santini. New York Times–bestselling writer Pat Conroy (1945–2016) inspired a worldwide legion of devoted fans, but none are more loyal to him and more committed to sustaining his literary legacy than the many writers he nurtured over the course of his fifty-year career. In sharing their stories of Conroy, his fellow writers honor his memory and advance our shared understanding of his lasting impact on literary life in and well beyond the American South. Conroy’s fellowship drew from all walks of life. His relationships were complicated, and people and places he thought he’d left behind often circled back to him at crucial moments. The pantheon of contributors includes Rick Bragg, Kathleen Parker, Barbra Streisand, Janis Ian, Anthony Grooms, Mary Hood, Nikky Finney, Nathalie Dupree and Cynthia Graubart, Ron Rash, Sandra Brown, and Mary Alice Monroe; Conroy biographers Katherine Clark and Catherine Seltzer; his longtime friends; Pat’s students Sallie Ann Robinson and Valerie Sayers; members of the Conroy family; and many more. Each author in this collection shares a slightly different view of Conroy. Through their voices, a multifaceted portrait of him comes to life and sheds new light on who he was. Loosely following Conroy’s own chronology, the essays herewith wind through his river of a story, stopping at important ports of call. Cities he called home and longed to visit, along with each book he birthed, become characters that are as equally important as the people he touched along the way.

The friends walk away, feeling hurt, but that's just the start of the story. Find out how Myrtle, Gertie, Hurtle and Snapper solve the problem, in this second picture book about Myrtle the Purple Turtle. A perfect book for children ages 3 to 8 (and adults who like turtles), it follows Myrtle the Purple Turtle -- a bestseller, praised by thousands of children and adults, teachers and librarians around the world. Reviews of Myrtle the Purple Turtle "This book will be a joy to children who need to be told, again and again, that they are beautiful in the skin they're in, that the beauty of diversity is one which includes them." Andrea Torrey Balsara, author and illustrator. "'Myrtle the Purple Turtle' is one of the most striking, original children's books released in recent years." - Annika, Goodreads "This is a beautifully illustrated children's book, that gently encourages the young to accept that being different should be celebrated." - Sally, Goodreads "My 3 little girls [ages] 8, 4 and 2, LOVE Myrtle and her adventures towards self-acceptance. The pictures are vibrant, the story is heart-warming and this has quickly become one of our most asked for books in the house. " - Nadine, Amazon Review "Must read for all young children." - Sue, Amazon Review "I loved reading this book to my young daughters. It emphasizes the importance of self-acceptance in a very relatable way to young kids and it gave me the opportunity to explain the issue of bullying, friendship and staying true to oneself." - Jasmine, Amazon Review "A story to be read over and over again." - Allie, Amazon Review "I loved this story, and even more so, my kids loved it. It has such a powerful and relatable moral. It gave me the opportunity speak to my children about acceptance, kindness, differences in the people we see all around us and to love and respect everyone for who they are, and not how they appear. And most importantly, to love yourself just the way you are." - Julia, Facebook Review "For those of us who want to teach the children in our lives about acceptance and friendship comes this charming tale of a purple turtle longing to be green that's perfect to pop into your beach or overnight bag for bedtime reading to little ones. When Myrtle realizes that she's not the same colour as her playmates, she tries to reinvent herself as someone different. It takes a few humorous attempts to reinvent herself and some help from her friends before she realizes that she's wonderful just as she is. Inspired by the experience of one of her own daughters, Canadian writer Cynthia Reyes has penned a story with delightful characters and an ever-important message: every one of us is different, and we're all extraordinary." - Canadian Living Magazine

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From award-winning TV comedy writer Kari Lizer (The New Adventures of Old Christine) comes a collection of hilarious essays about the challenges of being a woman of a certain age and all that comes with it: empty nest, post #MeToo dating, aging parents, menopausal rage, unrealistic expectations, and eternal optimism. What does it feel like to have your kids leave the house at the same time your parents might need to move in? With self-deprecating humor, sharp wit, and Ephron-esque aplomb, Kari Lizer gives an honest account of finding herself in the middle of growing up, growing old, and still figuring it all out. She finds the wry, bittersweet humor in (almost) all situations--whether it's becoming radioactive during a thyroid cancer treatment, getting fired from her volunteer work, or struggling to find her identity outside of motherhood. Aren't You Forgetting Someone? speaks to those of us who lament the invisibility of the middle-aged woman, but also revel in the unexpected delights of newfound freedom to do whatever the hell we want while no one is looking.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The twice-daily Tamid (standing) sacrifice was the focus of religious life from the time God established a covenant with the Israelites at Mount Sinai until the Jerusalem Temple's destruction in AD 70. No other sacrifice was to take precedence over the Tamid, and it was to continue as the centerpiece of worship for as long as the Sinai Covenant endured. However, the Tamid served as more than the means of atonement and covenant sanctification for Israel. It was also a sign of hope for the future sanctification for all peoples of the earth. Jesus of Nazareth is the fulfillment of that hope. The Passion of the Christ reveals the mystery of the single sacrifice of the two Tamid lambs-He who is fully man and God. Jesus became the true Tamid Lamb that all past Tamid lambs prefigured. Just as the unblemished Tamid lamb was the continual sacrifice presented in the Jerusalem Temple, Jesus is the holy unblemished Lamb "standing" before the throne of God in the heavenly Temple (Revelation 5:6). His sacrifice is continually made present in Heaven and on earthly altars during the Eucharistic celebration of the Mass.
