Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exploring the phenomenon of diffusion of legal norms accompanying economic globalisation in developing countries, this book examines the blanket imposition of standard regulatory templates, maintaining that every jurisdiction requires customised legal solutions. Adopted by over 80 developing jurisdictions, the World Bank’s 1993 regulatory template for electricity sector reform has been one of the most widely diffused regulatory models. This book uses the example of its implementation in India to address the more general process of regulatory globalisation for developing countries. Amongst other objectives, the World Bank’s template endeavoured to insulate economic decision making from politics through legal reform. Through this template, the World Bank endeavoured to transform the role of the Indian state in the electricity sector from an interventionist or welfare state to a neo-liberal regulatory state by imposing constitution-like obligations. The book demonstrates that the unique social, economic and political characteristics of a jurisdiction cannot be ignored when incorporating a regulatory template in a jurisdictional context; for, by influencing the way an external regulatory model is internalized, it is these characteristics that determine its outcome. Providing a detailed empirical analysis of this key aspect of development policy, this book will be of interest to scholars and students in the fields of law and development, politics and public administration; as well as development practitioners and policy makers involved in reforming sector regulatory frameworks in their countries.

Book excerpt: I am presenting this study on behalf of the millions and millions of citizens of India who eagerly are waiting to witness the transition from darkness to lightness. Many more cyber cities are the dreams of Indians. Politics Vs Economics , is the prime mover for any national development in the World. I believe every stakeholder is contributing to develop and sustain the Indian Power Sector within the limitations and restrictions of scope and availability. Policy, regulation, legislation , controls, monitoring, implementation, projects, institutions, structures, frameworks, services, finances, revenues, losses, profits, and so on are struggling to excel with infinite permutations and combinations. Research & Development (R&D) in India is not to be neglected in core sectors. R&D is a continual tool towards betterment of the complete supply chain of electricity supply. Ministry of New & Renewable Energy is taking initiatives to conduct solar training programmes. Power Consumption Vs Power Conservation, the balance can be made only by awareness , education and training programmes throughout the World. Energy is always a Global issue. Will Green Energy dominate the Power Sector in India? I believe, Learning by criticism brings in excellence. We all should thank this type of debate, discussions, brainstorming and analysis . It brings out innovations and refinement in thinking and decision making. The perception of constructive criticism should be to find avenues for strengthening the Indian Power System. I am grateful to all the analysts in the energy and power sector who have sacrificed their valuable time in researching and innovating better ways of improving the power systems in the world. I am equally indebted to the great scientists , educationists and reformists who have lived their lives to light the world. I am obliged to understand their pain in transforming the darkness of the world into lightness forever. I hope every reader should participate in saving electrical energy . This book, Energy Crisis in India, is a drive to alleviate the energy crisis. I sincerely request my readers and their associates to join me and the nation in saving energy . Finally from the bottom of my heart we will all remain indebted to the , People who Power the World..
Book Synopsis Handbook of Electrical Power Systems by : Oliver D. Doleski

This book was released on 2024-08-19 with total page 1028 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bridging the technical and the economical worlds of the energy sector and establishing a solid understanding of today's energy supply as a complex system– with these missions in mind, the book at hand compactly describes the fundamentals of electrical power supply in a dialogue between technology and non-technology, between academia and practitioners, and between nations and continents. Today, energy supply is a complex global system – it is time for a dialogue of the disciplines. In this book, experts explain in an understandable manner the technical foundations and selected specific aspects of today's electrical power supply. Each chapter supplies a fundamental introduction in layman's terms to the topic and serves technical specialists both as a reference and as an opportunity to expand their knowledge. Practical examples and case studies complete the compendium. Technology and economics in the energy sector work on the same questions out of different perspectives. The increasing complexity and interconnections and the epochal upheavals in the energy sector make a comprehensive understanding of the energy sector as a system an essential requirement. This necessitates an ongoing and successful dialogue between the disciplines and between academia and practitioners. To that aim, this book serves both as a compact reference for everyone interested in the energy sector and as a true translation aid between the professional disciplines.
