Book Synopsis Reproductive Performance of Turkey Breeders as Influenced by Feed and Light Restriction by : Kenneth Kay Krueger
Download or read book Reproductive Performance of Turkey Breeders as Influenced by Feed and Light Restriction written by Kenneth Kay Krueger and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Restricting day length or feed consumption in winter-hatched Broad Breasted White turkeys were studied for their effects on reproductive performance. Turkey males were either full-fed and received 15, 12 or 8 hours of light per day or restricted-fed and received 15 hours of light per day from 18 through 64 weeks of age. Dark-housed (8 hours of light per day) turkey breeder hens were either full-fed or restricted-fed from 22 to 30 weeks of age. At lighting (30 weeks of age) the full-fed and restricted=fed hen groups were randomly divided and full-fed either 14% or 18% protein diets through 20 weeks of egg production. Turkey males exposed to an 8 hour day produced semen with significantly (P (less than or equal to) 0.05) higher sperm cell concentration over a 30 week collection period than did males receiving 15 hours of light per day. A significant decline in semen volume occurred in full-fed turkey males receiving 15 hours of light per day while full-fed males exposed to 12 or 8 hours of light per day produced increasing semen volumes over the collection period. Mechanically restricting daily feed consumption by approximately 50% (as compared to full-fed males) in turkey males from 18 through 64weeks of age resulted in a 30% reduction in body weight. Restricted-fed males produced increasing semen volume over a 30 week collection period with significantly (P (less than or equal to) 0.05) higher sperm cell concentrations than males full-fed and receiving 15 hours of light per day. Fertility over a 20 week egg production period was significantly higher (P (less than or equal to) 0.05) for restricted-fed males receiving 15 hours of light per day than for full-fed males receiving 15, 12 or 8 hours of light per day. Data presented suggests that the seasonal decline in semen quantity and quality in off-season turkey breeder males may be prevented through the use of feed or light restriction.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on papers given at the 21st Poultry Science Symposium, Newport, Shropshire, UK, Sept. 1987. It is quite a thorough account of new developments in turkey science. Recent years have seen a huge increase in the production and consumption of turkey meat. This book gathers much of the important work concerning the breeding, growing and health of turkeys. The final part of the book deals with meat production. Topics include: the world turkey industry, genetics, physiology of egg production, embryology, nutrition and management of breeding stock, biology of growth, the physiology of muscle growth, nutritional and environmental responses of growing turkeys, respiratory diseases and enteric conditions of turkeys, meat yield, texture flavor and taint. Book Synopsis Effect of Some Light Treatments on Performance of Fayoumi Chickens by : Mahmoud Galal
Download or read book Effect of Some Light Treatments on Performance of Fayoumi Chickens written by Mahmoud Galal and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2015-06-29 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was prepared to describe the effect of some light treatments (type and program) on productive and reproductive performance and some blood constituents of Fayoumi chickens, also describes the effect of utilization of light programs intermittent and biomittent lighting programs, this book is a useful source for using a new type of lighting programs, which are used in poultry production is Flash lighting system and which is one of teaming task lighting, which provides 50% of the cost of lighting and thus reduce the cost of poultry production. With reference to lighting is one of the most environmental factors which affect performance, therefore the understanding the light role in poultry production allows producers to apply the best lighting program and make decisions to optimize the combination of production characteristics that bring higher profits.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS)* at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dis semination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 39 (thesis year 1994) a total of 13,953 thesis titles from 21 Canadian and 159 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this impor tant annual reference work. While Volume 39 reports theses submitted in 1994, on occasion, certain uni versities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book Synopsis The Effects of Physical Feed Restriction on Body Composition and Reproductive Performance of Commercial Large White Turkey Breeder Hens and Its Subsequent Economic Impact by :
Download or read book The Effects of Physical Feed Restriction on Body Composition and Reproductive Performance of Commercial Large White Turkey Breeder Hens and Its Subsequent Economic Impact written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Large White turkey breeder hens were tested in a 4 X 3 factorial design to evaluate the effect of three different levels of physical feed restriction on subsequent reproductive performance. The feed treatments comprised: Control Control (CC) - ad libitum fed throughout the study, Control Restricted (CR) - feed restricted from 16-24 WOA, Restricted Control (RC) - feed restricted from 3-16 WOA and Restricted Restricted (RR) - feed restricted from 3-24 WOA. Feed restriction was implemented so that restricted fed hens achieved a 45% reduction in BW as compared to Control hens at 16 WOA. From 16-24 WOA restriction was implemented to maintain a slight increase in BW. At the completion of the respective restriction period, hens were gradually released back to ad libitum feeding. At the time of photostimulation (30 WOA) all treatments were divided into sub-treatments by weight: HEAVY, MEDIUM and LIGHT, resulting in four treatments with three sub-treatments within each. All hens continued on ad libitum feeding throughout a 20 wk lay cycle. Body weight (BW) for all treatments differed significantly (P
