This book was released on 2006 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Due to impairments such as spasticity, muscle weakness and incoordination, traumatic brain injury (TBI) can leave many adults with severe and persisting disabilities. Despite muscle weakness being common after TBI, a systematic review of the literature showed that to date no study has investigated the effects of progressive resistance strength training (PRST) in adults with TBI. Accordingly, the aims of this thesis were to i) examine the effects of PRST on muscle weakness, activity limitation and participation restrictions in a sample of adults in the advanced stages of recovery after TBI, ii) investigate the retest reliability of several measurement procedures representing each domain of the International Classification of Functioning and Disability and Health and, iii) construct a method for analysing head injury motor performance data from single subjects.
