This book was released on 1997-08-28 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In response to the many challenges facing mental health professionals in the era of managed care, this highly respected group of contributors from academia, managed care, and full-time clinical practice, outline the importance of personality assessment, particularly through the use of MMPI-2. Butcher and his colleagues argue that psychological assessment plays an indispensable role in managed care, both because it is an essential tool for evaluating the effectiveness of therapy and because of its significant contributions to the structuring and shortening of the process of therapy. By providing working examples of psychological treatment in the context of managed care, this book shows us that the most effective treatments use personality assessment as their foundation.

Book excerpt: Abstract: This study investigated the relationship between the Personal Style Scales of the 1994 Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Participants included two groups of students (n = 132 & 96) and one group of clients in career counseling (n = 129). Males' and females' relationships between scales differed significantly. As predicted, in all samples Work Style was related to the MBTI Extraversion-Introversion and Thinking-Feeling scales. Learning Environment was associated with Sensing-Intuiting, and Leadership Style was correlated with both Extraversion-Introversion and Sensing-Intuiting. Risk Taking was related to Judging-Perceiving. Additional relationships varied by group or by gender. Canonical correlational analyses conducted with each gender revealed significant higher order relationships among the variables and suggested differing patterns of relationships among women and men.
