Book Synopsis Process Dynamics and Control by : Brian Roffel
Download or read book Process Dynamics and Control written by Brian Roffel and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2007-01-11 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Offering a different approach to other textbooks in the area, this book is a comprehensive introduction to the subject divided in three broad parts. The first part deals with building physical models, the second part with developing empirical models and the final part discusses developing process control solutions. Theory is discussed where needed to ensure students have a full understanding of key techniques that are used to solve a modeling problem. Hallmark Features: Includes worked out examples of processes where the theory learned early on in the text can be applied. Uses MATLAB simulation examples of all processes and modeling techniques- further information on MATLAB can be obtained from www.mathworks.com Includes supplementary website to include further references, worked examples and figures from the book This book is structured and aimed at upper level undergraduate students within chemical engineering and other engineering disciplines looking for a comprehensive introduction to the subject. It is also of use to practitioners of process control where the integrated approach of physical and empirical modeling is particularly valuable.

Download or read book Process Dynamics and Control written by Dale E. Seborg and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-09-13 with total page 512 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The new 4th edition of Seborg’s Process Dynamics Control provides full topical coverage for process control courses in the chemical engineering curriculum, emphasizing how process control and its related fields of process modeling and optimization are essential to the development of high-value products. A principal objective of this new edition is to describe modern techniques for control processes, with an emphasis on complex systems necessary to the development, design, and operation of modern processing plants. Control process instructors can cover the basic material while also having the flexibility to include advanced topics.
Book Synopsis Introduction to Process Control, Second Edition by : Jose A. Romagnoli
Download or read book Introduction to Process Control, Second Edition written by Jose A. Romagnoli and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2012-02-14 with total page 647 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Process Control, Second Edition provides a bridge between the traditional view of process control and the current, expanded role by blending conventional topics with a broader perspective of more integrated process operation, control, and information systems. Updating and expanding the content of its predecessor, this second edition addresses issues in today’s teaching of process control. Teaching & Learning Principles Presents a concept first followed by an example, allowing students to grasp theoretical concepts in a practical manner Uses the same problem in each chapter, culminating in a complete control design strategy Includes 50 percent more exercises Content Defines the traditional and expanded roles of process control in modern manufacturing Introduces the link between process optimization and process control (optimizing control), including the effect of disturbances on the optimal plant operation, the concepts of steady-state and dynamic backoff as ways to quantify the economic benefits of control, and how to determine an optimal transition policy during a planned production change Incorporates an introduction to the modern architectures of industrial computer control systems with real case studies and applications to pilot-scale operations Discusses the expanded role of process control in modern manufacturing, including model-centric technologies and integrated control systems Integrates data processing/reconciliation and intelligent monitoring in the overall control system architecture Web Resource The book’s website offers a user-friendly software environment for interactively studying the examples in the text. The site contains the MATLAB® toolboxes for process control education as well as the main simulation examples from the book. Access the site through the authors’ websites at www.pseonline.net and www.chms.ucdavis.edu/research/web/pse/ahmet/ Drawing on the authors’ combined 50 years of teaching experiences, this classroom-tested text is designed for chemical engineering students but is also suitable for industrial practitioners who need to understand key concepts of process control and how to implement them. The authors help readers see how traditional process control has evolved into an integrated operational environment used to run modern manufacturing facilities.

Download or read book Nonlinear Adaptive Control for Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor written by Patcharang Sirichaovalert and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) is a type of reactors used commonly in industrial processing. It has inherently nonlinear and complex dynamic behavior and therefore it is difficult to handle with a linear controller. In this research, a nonlinear adaptive control approach is developed based on generic model control (GMC) with online adaptation of its tuning parameters. An extended Kalman filter has been incorporated to the control approach in order to determine unknown/uncertain parameters. The performance of the designed controller has been evaluated in two cases: disturbance changes and plant/model mismatches. The simulation results have shown that the nonlinear adaptive control provides good control performance in both cases. Moreover, this controller is found to be better than the GMC and conventional Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller in all cases.
