Book Synopsis The Natural Gas Market by : Paul W. MacAvoy
Download or read book The Natural Gas Market written by Paul W. MacAvoy and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2008-10-01 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: divOver the past six decades federal regulatory agencies have attempted different strategies to regulate the natural gas industry in the United States. All have been unsuccessful, resulting in nationwide gas shortages or massive gas surpluses and costing the nation scores of billions of dollars. In addition, partial deregulation has led the regulatory agency to become more involved in controlling individual transactions among gas producers, distributors, and consumers. In this important book, Paul MacAvoy demonstrates that no affected group has gained from these experiments in public control and that all participants would gain from complete deregulation. Although losses have declined with partial deregulation in recent years, current regulatory practices still limit the growth of supply through the transmission system. MacAvoy’s history of the regulation of natural gas is a cautionary tale for other natural resource or network industries that are regulated or are about to be regulated. /DIV
Book Synopsis The World Market for Natural Gas by : Andrea Gilardoni
Download or read book The World Market for Natural Gas written by Andrea Gilardoni and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-07-20 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a product of investigations conducted within the Global Utility Research Unit (Guru) of Agici Corporate Finance (Milan, Italy). More specifically, it is the result of a project developed by the Observatory on Alliances and Strategies in the Pan-European Utility Market set-up seven years ago with the contribution of Accenture. The project, entitled “Pan-European Gas Industry Scenario – Truth and Lies”, was presented at the 2008 Milan annual international conference (www. agici. it). I would therefore like to thank Luca Cesari, Claudio Arcudi and Massimo Pagella from Accenture for their continued support. The scope of this book is to shed some light on a market, that of natural gas, which is highly complex and at the same time of fundamental importance for Europe for at least the next 20 years. We do not intend to build a theory but only to develop a better understanding of the key factors. We fully recognise that the each of the issues we cover deserves further investigation and we are also well aware that we may have omitted a number of important considerations and topics. These shortcomings are - at least in part - justified by the desire to keep the book to a r- sonable size for editorial reasons.

Download or read book Natural Gas Markets After Deregulation written by Harry G. Broadman and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-17 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1983, Broadman and Montgomery present an agenda for further research into deregulated natural gas markets by relating natural gas production, transmission and distribution with the economic function of contracts and local distribution companies. This work raises fundamental issues that could arise with the deregulation of the natural gas industry and outlines analytical methods that could be used to predict any problems that might arise and possible changes to policy. This title is of interest to students of Environmental Studies and professionals.
Book Synopsis Developing China's Natural Gas Market by : International Energy Agency
Download or read book Developing China's Natural Gas Market written by International Energy Agency and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Driven by an increasing recognition of the many advantages of natural gas and by the need to diversify its coal-dominated energy supply, China's natural gas industry is poised for rapid expansion. Some major gas infrastructure projects have been launched to support ambitious gas growth targets in the country for the next five years and beyond. Other countries within the IEA and outside, have faced similar challenges in developing their gas markets, but the challenges faced by China are far greater. Chinese gas reserves are relatively limited and are located far from the main centres of demand; cheap alternatives are available; there is a lack of related technology and skill; and knowledge of how best to develop markets is not widespread. This report attempts to address these challenges.

Book Synopsis The Economics of the Gas Supply Industry by : Malcolm Abbott
Download or read book The Economics of the Gas Supply Industry written by Malcolm Abbott and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-12 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, natural gas has become a major source of energy, with trade across borders increasing through both pipelines and as Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). Owing to this global development, this book traces the development of the gas supply industry, from localised to national industries and national industries to a major global industry. It looks at the basic economics and origins of the industry, as well as the role of the government in its development and relation to international markets. The book highlights certain economic characteristics such as the industry’s vertical and horizontal structure, the composition of consumer demand and the role of government in safety, planning and investment. With the understanding of the industry's long term development, the book helps to illustrate the relationship between natural gas producers and importers of LNG. This book would be of interest to scholars majoring in resource economics and energy economics, as well as to international practitioners in the natural gas market.
