Book excerpt: "Benjamin Cohn, author of The Depth Of Synchronicity, builds on Jung's foundational concept, adding scientific explanations to his personal subjective experience in an engaging discussion regarding the greater spiritual consciousness that generates synchronicity. Cohn weaves in his wild personal tale in which he follows synchronicity like a path, conveying the existence of a subtle force connected to the body and mind. In his own words, ' ... the depth of synchronicity developed into an idea that synchronicity is a communication from a greater depth of intelligence or consciousness beyond the human-ego mind.'"--Back cover

Book excerpt: Unlock the key to a universal life-force in this astonishing book from the New York Times bestselling author of The Source Field Investigations and Awakening in the Dream. The Source Field Investigations was a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestseller that uncovered hidden science and lost prophecies to illuminate an entirely new understanding of our world today. Now, in The Synchronicity Key, David Wilcock embarks on an astonishing investigation into what lies beyond—finding proof that everything in our lives is not only connected, but it also influences everything else. Using history, astrology, and synchronicity theory among other concepts, Wilcock shows that there is hidden architecture within time, guiding individuals and nations through a system of enlightenment Joseph Campbell called the Hero’s Journey. Historical events occur in shockingly precise, repeating cycles of time as a result. Once we understand and identify the hidden laws of this seemingly random “synchronicity,” we are left with a remarkable blueprint of how best to lead our lives in this uncertain and confusing world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Also available in an open-access, full-text edition at http://oaktrust.library.tamu.edu/handle/1969.1/88024 In 1952 C. G. Jung published a paradoxical hypothesis on synchronicity that marked an attempt to expand the western world’s conception of the relationship between nature and the psyche. Jung’s hypothesis sought to break down the polarizing cause-effect assessment of the world and psyche, suggesting that everything is interconnected. Thus, synchronicity is both "a meaningful event" and "an acausal connecting principle." Evaluating the world in this manner opened the door to "exploring the possibility of meaning in chance or random events, deciphering if and when meaning might be present even if outside conscious awareness." Now, after contextualizing Jung’s work in relation to contemporary scientific advancements such as relativity and quantum theories, Joseph Cambray explores in this book how Jung’s theories, practices, and clinical methods influenced the current field of complexity theory, which works with a paradox similar to Jung’s synchronicity: the importance of symmetry as well as the need to break that symmetry for "emergence" to occur. Finally, Cambray provides his unique contribution to the field by attempting to trace "cultural synchronicities," a reconsideration of historical events in terms of their synchronistic aspects. For example, he examines the emergence of democracy in ancient Greece in order "to find a model of group decision making based on emergentist principles with a synchronistic core."

Book excerpt: From Aristotle's Physics to quantum teleportation, learn about the scientific pursuit of instantaneous connections in this insightful examination of our world. For millennia, scientists have puzzled over a simple question: Does the universe have a speed limit? If not, some effects could happen at the same instant as the actions that caused them -- and some effects, ludicrously, might even happen before their causes. By one hundred years ago, it seemed clear that the speed of light was the fastest possible speed. Causality was safe. And then quantum mechanics happened, introducing spooky connections that seemed to circumvent the law of cause and effect. Inspired by the new physics, psychologist Carl Jung and physicist Wolfgang Pauli explored a concept called synchronicity, a weird phenomenon they thought could link events without causes. Synchronicity tells that sprawling tale of insight and creativity, and asks where these ideas -- some plain crazy, and others crazy powerful -- are taking the human story next.

Book excerpt: Jung was intrigued from early in his career with coincidences, especially those surprising juxtapositions that scientific rationality could not adequately explain. He discussed these ideas with Albert Einstein before World War I, but first used the term "synchronicity" in a 1930 lecture, in reference to the unusual psychological insights generated from consulting the I Ching. A long correspondence and friendship with the Nobel Prize-winning physicist Wolfgang Pauli stimulated a final, mature statement of Jung's thinking on synchronicity, originally published in 1952 and reproduced here. Together with a wealth of historical and contemporary material, this essay describes an astrological experiment Jung conducted to test his theory. Synchronicity reveals the full extent of Jung's research into a wide range of psychic phenomena. This paperback edition of Jung's classic work includes a new foreword by Sonu Shamdasani, Philemon Professor of Jung History at University College London.

Book excerpt: The pioneering analysis of synchronicity was given by Jung, yet despite the concept's momentous significance in Jung's work, and despite the widespread dissemination of the term 'synchronicity' even within pop culture, synchronicity is often badly misconstrued and remains "perhaps the least understood of Jung's theories". Synchronicity, Science, and Soul-Making has already been hailed as the most important analysis of synchronicity since Jung himself.

Book excerpt: Signs: A New Approach to Coincidence, Synchronicity, Guidance, Life Purpose, and God's Plan presents a new way of approaching coincidental or synchronistic events, events that seem to be telling us something. It explains how to separate out more ordinary synchronicities from what the author calls "signs" or CMPEs (Conjunctions of Meaningfully Parallel Events), a kind of super-synchronicity. These occurrences are so intelligently organized as to go far beyond chance and convey a remarkable depth of wisdom and insight for our lives. Filled with dozens of real-life examples, the book is both a how-to guide for working with this phenomenon and an exploration of the phenomenon itself, including what it implies about the nature of reality and the existence of God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fear grips those who doubt that their existence has meaning, and the prevailing notion that humans are situated on a dot in the middle of a dark, cold universe leaves people shivering in cosmic insignificance. Many would argue that science and technology have separated individuals from God while others would say that people have lost their faith, and some would assert that God is dead. Many simply do not know what to believe. Today’s self-help industry is a testament to the search for meaning in an age of uncertainty and faltering religious structures. The truth is that technology and science now answer many of the questions that used to be left to God. This development has confounded people’s ability to integrate what is known today with what was once thought. The disparity between past and present beliefs may be observed in the concept of the angel. There are many who claim that any lingering belief in angels is merely the residue of imaginary or wishful thinking, and there are others who hold that angels (wings, halos, and harps) literally exist. How is one to reconcile such contradictory beliefs? C. G. Jung’s theory of synchronicity (meaningful coincidence) provides a vehicle for the exploration and possible reconciliation of such questions. Rather than echoing the skeptic who says angels cannot exist or the religious enthusiast who affirms their immanence, one might reframe the entire discussion. Like the biblical concept of annunciation, in which an angel delivers a heavenly message to an earthly individual, synchronicity defines the moment at which the eternal touches the temporal.

Told against the backdrop of King Solomon's underground catacombs, this book explores the pathway to the Unified Field through the principle of synchronicity. In 1990, when Peter Moon encountered Preston Nichols and opened the door to the public investigation of the Montauk Project, he began to experience odd synchronicities that were far beyond the range of what could be considered ordinary coincidences. In the midst of writing and editing books, Peter found that these synchronicities accelerated at a far greater rate than he could easily chronicle and put into book form. Only now, after a dozen years is he beginning to catch up and publish the first instalment which is entitled SYNCHRONICITY AND THE SEVENTH SEAL, Peter's first solo authored book since THE BLACK SUN in 1997. This new book begins with a historical and scientific look at synchronicity before leading into a recapitulation and new perspective on the many synchronicities that are now part of the Montauk legend. After revealing the paranormal prelude that led him to the Montauk Project, which includes the origins of the Remote Viewing phenomena, Peter gives a riveting account of and a totally new perspective to the Babalon Working which was revealed to him as a result of his adventures with Marjorie Cameron, the wife of Jack Parsons who was the vehicle used to precipitate the return of the Goddess. SYNCHRONICITY AND THE SEVENTH SEAL reveals new mysteries about the Babalon Working and how his study of it led to further synchronicity, including a unique penetration of the work of John Dee and Edward Talbot Kelly, two magicians who inspired the Babalon Working and also dictated the future course of Western Civilization under the sponsorship of Queen Elizabeth I. Ultimately, this path of synchronicity leads to the revelation of the Seventh Seal itself. It is not what you think, but you will not be disappointed, and you will learn the greatest secret by which the multitudes have been duped since the beginning of the Christian Era.

Book excerpt: Depth Psychology and Climate Change offers a sensitive and insightful look at how ideas from depth psychology can move us beyond psychological overwhelm when facing the ecological disaster of climate change and its denial. Integrating ideas from disciplines including anthropology, politics, spirituality, mythology and philosophy, contributors consider how climate change affects psychological well-being and how we can place hope and radical uncertainty alongside rage and despair. The book explores symbols of transformation, myths and futures; and is structured to encourage regular reflection. Each contributor brings their own perspective – green politics, change and loss, climate change denial, consumerism and our connection to nature – suggesting responses to mental suffering arising from an unstable and uncertain international outlook. They examine how subsequent changes in consciousness can develop. This book will be essential reading for analytical psychologists, Jungian analysts and psychotherapists, as well as academics and students of Jungian and post-Jungian studies. It will also be of great interest to academics and students of the politics and policy of climate change, anthropology, myth and symbolism and ecopsychology, and to anyone seeking a new perspective on the climate emergency.

Book excerpt: "The history is fascinating, as are the insights into the personalities of these great thinkers." —New Scientist Is there a number at the root of the universe? A primal number that everything in the world hinges on? This question exercised many great minds of the twentieth century, among them the groundbreaking physicist Wolfgang Pauli and the famous psychoanalyst Carl Jung. Their obsession with the power of certain numbers—including 137, which describes the atom’s fine-structure constant and has great Kabbalistic significance—led them to develop an unlikely friendship and to embark on a joint mystical quest reaching deep into medieval alchemy, dream interpretation, and the Chinese Book of Changes. 137 explores the profound intersection of modern science with the occult, but above all it is the tale of an extraordinary, fruitful friendship between two of the greatest thinkers of our times. Originally published in hardcover as Deciphering the Cosmic Number.
