Book Synopsis Project Day Lily by : Garth L. Nicolson Ph.D.
Download or read book Project Day Lily written by Garth L. Nicolson Ph.D. and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2005-09-01 with total page 570 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Project Day Lily story chronicles the events surrounding what the public knows as "Gulf War Syndrome." To this day, the public perception of that tragedy is very limited, but now there are over 150,000 veterans of that conflict that suffer from chronic illnesses and tens of thousands have died without acknowledgment or proper assistance to keep secret the origin of their illnesses. Project Day Lily tells the story of the discovery that men and women of our Armed Forces were actually exposed to chemical and biological mixtures from missiles and sprayers during the Gulf War that were supplied, in part, by a sinister network using a group of rogue bureaucrats, intelligence operatives and scientists. They were also exposed to contaminants in the multiple vaccines given during deployment. Project Day Lily presents the story of how one of these biological agents was found by two American scientists in veterans of the Gulf War and in civilians as part of a massive testing program and how various academic and governmental employees did everything in their power to prevent this information from being released to the American public.

Book Synopsis The Wild Vegetarian Cookbook by : Steve Brill
Download or read book The Wild Vegetarian Cookbook written by Steve Brill and published by ReadHowYouWant.com. This book was released on 2011-07-13 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Brill follows his Identifying and Harvesting Edible and Medicinal Plants in Wild (And Not So Wild) Places with this specialist volume aimed at cooking found and gathered produce. Stressing the need to forage safely and not eat any plant unless completely certain of its identification and that it's free of pesticides and herbicides, the author explains 'what makes wild food special' before describing methods of preparation and food types, winemaking and the wild food seasons. Main courses and desserts are intermingled so much so that it becomes hard to tell whether the ingredient is a main component or an enhancer. Filled with humorous anecdotes and small descriptions, almost every recipe relies on at least one foraged ingredient, though where possible Brill offers health store alternatives (while Monsieur Wildman's French Dressing calls for wild spearmint, he does suggest cultivated mint; unsweetened apple juice can be substituted for wild apples in Spiced Wild Apple Cider). In the end, the book will appeal to those who enjoy foraging in the wild as well as the vegetarian who is not only health- but also environmentally conscious.
