It cannot be otherwise, for the pure and undefiled religion of the Gospel of Christ and that of Puseyism and High-church are irreconcilable. They cannot reigm and rule in the same place and time. Long have we as a nation mocked God with a form of religion, while destitute and hating the power of it. Hit! It may be that the Lord will scourge us back to himself by the rod of his just anger in the shape of popish Puseyistic persecution.
