She gives beginning to a son, Paul, however slightly will pay him any interest.Undine takes a trip to Europe, leaving Paul and Ralph at the back of. She starts an affair with Peter Van Degen, a wealthy man over there. He's really a mutual acquaintance of Ralph's considering that he is married to Ralph's cousin, Clare. Needless to say their dating is going nowhere rapid, however Undine attempts to entice him into marrying her by way of immediately divorcing Ralph and telling him the entirety. Peter, however, is not able to divorce Clare, and dismisses Undine. She's now a widow without a prospects, so her movements lower back to the States and the Midwest specifically.She's an inventive gal, however, and shortly makes her way in society another time. Soon she's in Paris wherein she meets Raymond de Chelles and seduces him. Like all her preceding affairs, Undine desires the money extra than the person. He has fallen for her charms, but he cannot marry her due to the fact she's divorced and he is Catholic. Undine decides to try to bribe the Pope, the usage of cash blackmailed from Ralph in hazard of taking custody in their son if he does not pay, to annul her preceding marriage. Ralph has to borrow cash from a person named Elmer Moffat if you want to pay Undine. Distraught over his increasing debts and the hazard of losing Paul, Ralph kills himself. Now Undine can marry Raymond due to the fact she's technically a widow, so she promptly does.
