Download or read book The Cool Kid written by Ernie Endara and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 29 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current social media, movies, TV, etc., that we are living through has shown us that our society craves to be cool. Whether by the clothes we wear, attitude expressed, music we listen to, or people we follow, being labeled "cool" has always been a sort of badge of honor; however, very few understand that being "cool" comes with responsibilities. My hope is to provide a more inclusive and less hateful future, which I feel can only be achieved with the help of our children, who are our future. This character, "the cool kid," is based on my life, which I say with the utmost of humility and is maybe a reason why it has taken me so long to embark on this journey. As a young person (which my same mindset has continued through my adult life), I was always able to work and deal with matters that at times were above my head and fraught with deep in meaning; however, doing the right thing or doing the "cool" thing always allowed me to humbly resolve the respective matter. I can remember, on so many occasions, how my peers where picked-on, bullied, left out of playtime, shunned, etc., and how I was always the bridge between the so-called "cool kids" and the "not cool kids". My position of being a bridge then, which continues now, provided me with the insight into how I can help "bridge" relationships between children by having "the cool kid" tell them that "it's cool" to let others play; or to tell them that it's "not cool" to pick on someone; or allow them to realize that it's actually "not cool" to slander, hate, or (what we see so often) exclude another child for whatever reason. As a parent, I have relied on teachers, clergy, family, and friends to help me, as well as other parents, to guide our children; however, once again, this method always made me realize that it is an adult telling children on how they are to conduct themselves for a better life for them and our society. That is why "the cool kid" will be a perfect medium to propagate my message. Think about it:, how many kids fall prey to negative peer pressures? But this time, "the cool kid" does the opposite of that negative peer pressure.

Download or read book Where the Cool Kids Hung Out written by Steven Scragg and published by eBook Partnership. This book was released on 2020-10-12 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Where the Cool Kids Hung Out is the story of the UEFA Cup's glory years, when it was a tournament that boasted a stronger field of teams than its senior siblings, the European Cup and the European Cup Winners' Cup. Since then it has drifted into its poor current form as the Europa League, the Champions League having siphoned off most of Europe's biggest clubs. Yet the UEFA Cup enjoyed some very stylish years, no more so than during the two-legged final period. It was an era when Ipswich Town swept to glory, Liverpool conditioned themselves to conquer the continent, Tottenham Hotspur twice captured the cup and Dundee United came agonisingly close. It was also a time when Borussia M&önchengladbach made their name, Real Madrid regenerated as a force and Serie A came to dominate. Drawing on an encyclopaedic knowledge of the tournament plus interviews with players, journalists and fans who lived and loved the competition, Steven Scragg brings you the definitive account of the UEFA Cup's halcyon days.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Freaks, Geeks, and Cool Kids argues that the teenage behaviors that annoy adults do not arise from ""hormones, "" bad parenting, poor teaching, or ""the media, "" but from adolescents' lack of power over the central features of their lives: they must attend school; they have no control over the curriculum; they can't choose who their classmates are. What teenagers do have is the power to create status systems and symbols that not only exasperate adults, but also impede learning and maturing. Ironically, parents, educators, and businesses are inadvertently major contributors to these ou.

Download or read book Freaks, Geeks, and Cool Kids written by Murray Milner and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-08-20 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Freaks, Geeks, and Cool Kids, Second Edition, award-winning sociologist Murray Milner tries to understand why teenagers behave the way they do. The first edition drew upon two years of intensive fieldwork in one high school and 300 written interviews about high schools across the country, where he argued that consumer culture greatly impacts the way our youth relate to one another and understand themselves and society. Milner now expands on that concept with a new year of fieldwork fifteen years after he began. He has uncovered in teens a move away from consumerism and towards the cultural capital of information in a time of social media and standardized tests.
