Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1987, I published the first in a series called the Adventures of Pass Patrol. "4WD Trails and Ghost Towns of Colorado." It has gone through many revisions, but the original stories remained the same. Before I could get the books into book stores, it needed to be more than fifty pages. Additional stories were added making the book 100 pages long. Pass Patrol Recollections is a collection of the stories that were in it.By the time my books were available in bookstores and gift shops throughout Colorado, there were four volumes in the series. A two-hour video of each volume was also available. The Adventures of Pass Patrol eventually expanded to seven volumes. Although I ended that series in 1999, those products were available for many more years. Used copies can still be found in some markets. This book includes Colorado's highest pass roads and the stories that made them famous. Maps and directions to each trail including GPS positions guide the reader to scenic and historic locations. Although these stories were written many years ago, they are still entertaining and informative.

Book excerpt: On the evening of December 4, 1978, Rocky Mountain Airways Flight 217 departed Steamboat Springs, Colorado bound for Denver with twenty-two souls on board. Less than an hour later, the flight was forced down on Buffalo Pass at an altitude of 10,500 feet when it encountered severe icing conditions and downdrafts created by the winds of a mountain wave. The tragic accident triggered one of the most intense search and rescue efforts in Rocky Mountain history. This true story is told in the words of the courageous passengers and crew- who found themselves struggling to survive the arctic type blizzard conditions with no hope of immediate help-and the heroic search and rescue personnel who risked lives to save lives. Led by an elite Civil Air Patrol unit, and civilian volunteers, the search and rescue effort is considered one of the most successful in the organization's history.

Book excerpt: Justice Lonesome has enjoyed a life of bounty. Even so, she’s inherited the curse of the Lonesome. A poet’s soul. Which means she’s still searching for something. Searching for peace. Searching for the less…that’s more. And when the foundation of her life is pulled out from under her, grieving, she goes to the mountains to find her oasis. She hits Carnal, Colorado and decides to stay. Deke Hightower lost everything at the age of two. He lost it again at fifteen. His life has not been about bounty. It’s been about learning to live with less, because there’s no way to get more. Deke’s also watched all his friends go down to the women who gave them what they needed. He wants that for himself. But he knows that search isn’t going to be easy because he’s a rider. His home is the road. That’s the only place he can breathe. And the woman who takes her place at his side has to do it sitting on the back of his bike. When Deke meets Justice, he knows she’s not that woman. She’s cute. She’s sweet. And she’s into him, but she’s got it all and Deke knows he won’t fit into that. So he holds her at arm’s length. Establishes boundaries. And Justice will take it because she wants Deke any way he’ll let her have him. But when Justice finds herself a pawn in a dangerous game, Deke makes a decision. When he does, he has no idea he’s just opened himself up to bounty.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: * The only Colorado Trail guide available for thru-hikers, day hikers, mountain bikers, trail runners, XC skiers, and horse people * 120 color pictures, 28 segment maps, elevation profiles, integrated GPS waypoints, town maps, and mountain bike detours of Wilderness areas * More than 50,000 copies sold The Colorado Trail (CT) is the premier scenic long trail in North America. It winds its way through endless fields of wildflowers to wind-swept mountain passes, from wild mountain rivers and streams to quiet trails through old growth forests. The CT crosses eight mountain ranges, seven National Forests, six Wilderness Areas, and five river systems. Starting near Denver at 5,500 feet and ending near Durango at 7,000 feet, the CT gains and loses almost 76,000 feet in elevation over 468 miles. This eighth edition of the official CT guide has all the information a thru-hiker needs to plan and complete his or her trek. New to this edition are updated GPS waypoints, maps, and rewritten descriptions for the 28 segments, as well as new photographs of spots along the segments. Each segment provides distance, elevation gain, and an overview; a list of trailhead and access points; maps needed; a list of supply points; services and accommodations; detailed trail descriptions; a map; and an elevation gain and loss chart. Additional town maps and mountain bike detour maps (around Wilderness Areas) have been added where applicable. An extensive introduction includes information on planning, supplying, safety, mountain biking, regulations, and backcountry ethics--plus chapters on Colorado Trail heritage, natural history, and geology. At the back of the book you will find a graphic summary of the trail, equipment list, ranger districts with contact information, bibliography, and index.
