It seemed best, therefore, to bring this volume to better conformity by relegating Latin quotations to the footnotes, giving an abstract or summary in English, where it was necessary, in the place which they had occupied in the text. It has not been thought necessary, however, to bracket' the additions which this handling has involved, or otherwise indicate the changes, since they are only changes in arrange ment.
