Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Blessings come in all sizes and flavors. Some blessings are anticipated; yet pleasing to the soul. Other blessings shower us unexpectedly, causing us to respond with jubilance and joy! This cookbook is in memory of Apostle Carol Ann Revelle, who brought many blessings to those who knew her and some who never discovered the source of the goodness and grace they received. As a servant of the Lord, certain blessings she extended were life changing. They brought hope to the lost. Other blessings shed light in dark places, where only the wisdom of God could bring change. All of these blessings are memorable. They are an example of a life blessed by God to bless others. Apostle Carol helped many to taste and see the blessings of God as she led the way by trusting in Him. May the vibrant spirit of God, that lived deep within her heart, continue to spread contagiously to all who were touched by her gifts and inspired by her love for God. Our hope and prayer is that many more will taste and see that the Lord is good, as we apply what Apostle Carol Revelle taught and shared through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You are invited to a feast for the senses and the spirit! Thirty-four adventurous writers open their kitchens, their recipe files, and their hearts to illustrate the many unexpected ways that food draws us closer to God, to community, and to creation. All bring a keen eye and palette to the larger questions of the role of food--both its presence and its absence--in the life of our bodies and spirits. Their essays take us to a Canadian wheat farm, a backyard tomato garden in Cincinnati, an organic farm in Maine; into a kosher kitchen, a line of Hurricane Katrina survivors as they wait to be fed, a church basement for a thirty-hour fast; inside the translucent layers of an onion that transport us to a meditation on heaven, to a church potluck, and to many other places and ways we can experience sacramental eating. In a time of great interest and equal confusion over the place of food in our lives, this rich collection, which includes personal recipes, will delight the senses, feed the spirit, enlarge our understanding, and deepen our ability to "eat and drink to the glory of God." Do you feel like you meet your family coming and going, as everybody races off to jobs, schools, sports, dance classes, music lessons and church activities; catching only glimpses of each other's day? Are you there? If so, this devotional book is for you...to bring your family together at the dinner table. In these pages, you will find meal plans, recipes and devotionals presented in a unique way that will allow you to use the meal itself as a visual illustration of eternal truths from God's Word - relating the food at the table to food for one's soul. Start feeding souls as well as bodies at your dinner table, as your evening meal becomes a cherished time for reconnecting with each other...and with the Lord. Beth Lyle is a wife, mother, and grandmother who loves God. She is a former student of Trinity Seminary and a passionate believer in the power of God's Word. She is a Teaching Director for Community Bible Study, a featured retreat speaker and sings in a ladies' trio, One Heart. As a home-school mom, she realized the importance of teaching children at a young age to love God, and to make Him the most important part of life. "Children must know that to miss God is to miss everything." Her desire is to see families talk about God in a relaxed setting, making Him as real as the air they breathe - "just as we do not see air, but it is there...so is God." Beth resides in Greenwood, S.C. with her husband, Andy, and their daughter, Anna.

Book excerpt: A fascinating new study of the symbolic power of food and its role in forming kinship bonds and religious identity in early Christianity Scholar of religion John Penniman considers the symbolic importance of food in the early Roman world in an engaging and original new study that demonstrates how “eating well” was a pervasive idea that served diverse theories of growth, education, and religious identity. Penniman places early Christian discussion of food in its moral, medical, legal, and social contexts, revealing how nourishment, especially breast milk, was invested with the power to transfer characteristics, improve intellect, and strengthen kinship bonds.

God provides a personal invitation for each of us to receive and eat each meal. God knows our needs before we do and He is the God of abundance. In fact, scripture tells us that He lays a feast for us in the presence of our enemy! He nourishes and provides for us when we are in need. Join her on this journey and dive deeper into the truth that when we "..taste and see" we discover "...that the Lord is good! (Psalm 34:8)

Book excerpt: The Old Testament is a violent, bloody book, but the more we modern Christians neglect it, the more our gospel loses its teeth. This little book will call you out, cut you up, lift you up, and set you on fire. It begins where all spiritual meat does: not at the dinner table, not in the kitchen, nor even at the market. It begins in the abattoir. The God of the Old Testament is a butcher only because the Christ of the New Testament is a chef. Real theology deals with food, with milk and honey, flesh and blood, bread, oil, and wine. It is nourishment for children, wisdom for kings, and courage for prophets. God gave us food to teach us about life and death. God gave us sacrifice to teach us about death and resurrection. We prepare food for ourselves as God prepares us for Himself. The culinary art is close to the heart of the God who is a consuming fire.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Special Book For You, This Book Will Change Your Life. In the changing and often ambiguous world of modern age, Christians need to hold firmly unto the Word of Christ to guide them in their daily life. The Gospel is the light along the path of those who are experiencing dark and difficult days; it's the light of hope to the broken heart. It's Spirit and Life. The Bible emphasizes the theme of food because it wants to make us understand spiritual nutrition. Food is important for the physical and spiritual health. No spirit can live without spiritual food. As the physical body continually needs food, so does the spirit. A major problem is that human nature compels us to focus almost totally upon the physical. We live in a world obsessed with outer improvement. People live in debt to maintain a glamorous appearance. Many people either in ignorance or willingly neglect taking care of their spiritual bodies. Life is not ultimately physical and the flesh is not the whole man. God provides us "Israel's experiences in the wilderness" to let us know that there is a spiritual aspect to life that requires feeding and maintenance, just as surely as the physical. The spiritual food is merely the food for your spirit or your spiritual body. It is amazing to know that you have to nourish your spirit on a daily basis just the same as you do with your flesh. Your spirit has a kind of food that the flesh knows nothing about. What food does your spirit need? Yes, this is a challenging question that deserves a proper answer. Spiritual bodies eat the word of God and drink the presence of God. God and His word are the sustenance of eternal and abundant life. We find in the word of God all the energy, vitamins and proteins that our spiritual body requires. We cannot be spiritually healthy without feeding upon the word of God. We can visit hundreds of different stores to get food to eat, and the food we buy from them will make us feel strong physically. However, there is only one place where we get the food that will feed us spiritually: God is the only provider of spiritual food. God's Word is just as essential to spiritual life as food is to physical life. Just as one must discipline oneself to provide and eat physical food, so must one exercise discipline to seek and ingest spiritual food. If one will not do this, then, just as physical health will decline without adequate food, a person's inadequate spiritual diet will lead to spiritual disease. Each person loves his body and nourishes it. However, many people neglect their inward being, they clean the outside of the cup but the inside is dirty. The real man is not the flesh, but the spirit that dwells inside the body (Job 32:8). It is therefore vitally important to take good care of the spirit rather than the body. The demands of the body, although important, are nothing compared to those of the soul. Seek the right spiritual food and feed your soul. I hope this book will be a source of blessings in your life and God bless you!

Book excerpt: The soul needs food as well as the body -- not only in set seasons, or in public ordinances -- but frequently and privately. Here then, is spiritual food in small portions -- with which the soul may be fed, and the time not be missed. Every portion leads to Jesus -- or brings something from Jesus; for the author has leaned in the school of experience, that Jesus alone will satisfy and sanctify the believer's heart. The more we have to do with Jesus -- the better for us, and the more glorifying to God. Gracious Lord, honor this little book -- by making it the means of honoring your beloved Son, and feeding the souls of your beloved people. Oh, to exalt the Lord Jesus more and more! Oh, to be made more like Jesus from day to day! Sacred Spirit, use this little book to so great and glorious a purpose!
