Book Synopsis The Loveliest Place by : Dustin Benge
Download or read book The Loveliest Place written by Dustin Benge and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2022-02-25 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How Christians Can Rediscover the Beauty and Glory of the Church Dear. Precious. Lovely. The Bible describes the church in extraordinary ways, even using beautiful poetry and metaphors. How does this compare to how Christians today describe the church? Unfortunately, many believers focus more on its mission, structure, or specific programs than on its inherent beauty. It's time to spark a renewed affection for the church. In The Loveliest Place, Dustin Benge urges Christians to see the holy assembly of God's redeemed people in all its eternal beauty. He explains what makes the church lovely, including the Trinitarian relationship, worship, service, and gospel proclamation. For those who have never learned to view the church as God sees it, or have become disillusioned by its flaws, this book is a reminder that the corporate gathering of believers is a reflection of God's indescribable beauty. This is the third book in the Union series, which invites readers to experience deeper enjoyment of God through four interconnected values: delighting in God, growing in Christ, serving the church, and blessing the world. Part of the Union Series: Inviting readers to experience deeper enjoyment of God; other volumes include Rejoice and Tremble and Deeper Concise Version Also Available: The Loveliest Place is the full version of Why Should We Love the Local Church? Looks Beyond Methodology: Focuses on the beauty, not just the biblical function, of the church
Book Synopsis Glorious Finish by : Daniel Henderson
Download or read book Glorious Finish written by Daniel Henderson and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2020-04-07 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What separates pastors who finish well from those who don’t? When trusted pastors fall into sin and destroy a ministry, the entire body of believers gets hurt. After helping two large churches through the aftermath of such an event, Daniel Henderson discovered that pastoral failings are not primarily rooted in overdeveloped passions for self and sin but rather in underfed visions of eternity and a lack of zeal for God’s glory. In Glorious Finish, Daniel Henderson teaches you: Why focusing on God’s glory is the key to a fruitful ministry How leaders can build habits that keep them captivated by God and His glory How to stay glory-oriented in the grind, challenges, and spiritual attacks of ministry Forget the latest techniques and the strategies—spend some time recentering on what you know is most important—His glory.

Download or read book God’s Glorious Story written by Colin Eakin and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-12-30 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God has written a story. Ponder that thought for a moment. That is a startling statement. The God of the universe, the only one true God, has written a story, a comprehensive narrative of what has been, what is, and what will be. And not only has God written a story, but he wrote it to be read and understood by the highest form of his creation, his magnum opus--humans. He wrote his story so that every person he has made, every person on whom he has stamped His image, might comprehend and embrace it. That means he wrote his story with you in mind. “If you ever wished for a single work whose design is to bring you up to speed in your understanding of Scripture...this is the book.” John MacArthur, Pastor, Grace Community Church and Grace to You "...a rich resource providing the Christian with a thorough knowledge of the narrative of Scripture...I highly commend this book.” Stephen J. Lawson, President, OnePassion Ministries “this book...begins with a study of the Bible, then takes us through its key events: Creation, Fall, Israel, Christ, Church and Glory...with good depth that will assist anyone, from a young believer to the oldest pastor. I heartily recommend it to everyone.” Dr. Tom Halstead, Dean, School of Biblical Studies, The Masters University
Book Synopsis The Glorious Body of Christ by : Rienk Bouke Kuiper
Download or read book The Glorious Body of Christ written by Rienk Bouke Kuiper and published by Banner of Truth. This book was released on 1967 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Glorious' is probably the last adjective most modern writers would use to describe the Christian Church. Yet R. B. Kuiper chose his title, The Glorious Body of Christ, advisedly, for he wished to emphasize what he believed to be a sadly neglected aspect of the subject, that the Church of Christ is glorious. Dr. Kuiper, who died in 1966, was for many decades a teacher of theology, and his great concern was for the popular presentation of Christian doctrine. His own books went far to meet that need, including his God-Centered Evangelism (also published by the Trust) and For Whom Did Christ Die? on the extent of the atonement. In addition to his vigorous and clear style, Kuiper is also noted for the comprehensive way in which he treats his subject. The Glorious Body contains no less than fifty-three chapters, and among the aspects of the subject dealt with are unity, the marks of the Church, the offices of the Church, its responsibilities and privileges, and the Church and the world. Although this book is worthy of the widest possible circulation, it may be particularly commended as a manual for office-bearers in the Church.
Download or read book A Peculiar Glory written by John Piper and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2016-03-16 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God has provided a way for all people, not just scholars, to know that the Bible is the Word of God. John Piper has devoted his life to showing us that the glory of God is object of the soul’s happiness. Now, his burden in this book is to demonstrate that this same glory is the ground of the mind’s certainty. God’s peculiar glory shines through his Word. The Spirit of God enlightens the eyes of our hearts. And in one self-authenticating sight, our minds are sure and our hearts are satisfied. Justified certainty and solid joy meet in the peculiar glory of God.
Download or read book Authorized written by Mark Ward and published by Lexham Press. This book was released on 2018-01-24 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The King James Version has shaped the church, our worship, and our mother tongue for over 400 years. But what should we do with it today? The KJV beautifully rendered the Scriptures into the language of turn-of-the-seventeenth-century England. Even today the King James is the most widely read Bible in the United States. The rich cadence of its Elizabethan English is recognized even by non-Christians. But English has changed a great deal over the last 400 years—and in subtle ways that very few modern readers will recognize. In Authorized Mark L. Ward, Jr. shows what exclusive readers of the KJV are missing as they read God's word.#In their introduction to the King James Bible, the translators tell us that Christians must "heare CHRIST speaking unto them in their mother tongue." In Authorized Mark Ward builds a case for the KJV translators' view that English Bible translations should be readable by what they called "the very vulgar"—and what we would call "the man on the street."
Book Synopsis The Glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ by : David K. Bernard
Download or read book The Glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ written by David K. Bernard and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2019-05-21 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is now a substantial scholarly consensus for the emergence of a high or divine Christology very early and from a Jewish context, but the questions of "how" and "why" need further study. Within the framework of traditional Jewish monotheism, Paul and other early Christians used the language of deity to describe Jesus. To investigate their view of Jesus, the author examines Paul's discourse in 2 Cor 3:16–4:6, employing insights from rhetorical criticism and Oneness Pentecostal Christology. He explains how early Christians proclaimed the deity of Jesus within their monotheistic Jewish context. He then identifies socio-rhetorical reasons for and practical consequences of the monotheistic deification of Jesus.

Book excerpt: For 2,000 years, Catholicism—the largest religion in the world and in the United States—has shaped global history on a scale unequaled by any other institution. But until now, Catholics interested in their faith have been hard-pressed to find an accessible, affirmative, and exciting history of the Church. Triumph is that history. Inside, you'll discover the spectacular story of the Church from Biblical times and the early days of St. Peter—the first pope—to the twilight years of John Paul II. It is a sweeping drama of Roman legions, great crusades, epic battles, toppled empires, heroic saints, and enduring faith. And, there are stormy controversies: Dark Age skullduggery, the Inquistition, the Renaissance popes, the Reformation, the Church's refusal to accept sexual liberation and contemporary allegations like those made in Hitler's Pope and Papal Sin. A brawling, colorful history full of inspiring pageantry and spirited polemic, Triumph will exhilarate, amuse, and infuriate as it extols the glories of Catholic history and the gripping stories of its greatest men and women.
