Book excerpt: Meet Bear and Turtle: one is a teacher with profound insight into survival and success in the forest, the other an eager student, new to the idea of self-examination. These two animals set out into the forest, meeting up with various friends and observing the animal kingdom at work. The animals are at times witty, sarcastic, and fun-loving, but their lessons are always interesting and unconventional. Animal Leadership invites you to view your own world through a different lens. These five parables of leadership are presented with a clarity that will have you thinking about these animals' situations, long after you are done reading about them. Consider this: you don't want to work less, you actually want to work more; it's the small guy, not the big guy, who has the advantage; and entrepreneurs find needs, not ideas. These are just a few of the lessons to be learned in the forest. Animal Leadership is a book about embracing adversity, finding opportunity, and not settling for average. If you are looking to break out of a mold, start a new career, or work towards a passion of yours, then join Turtle and Bear as they begin their own journey.

This book was released on 2018-11-16 with total page 505 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a human and Australian story written in four distinct parts and tied together with the thread of the author’s life. It speaks for migrants who are driven by upheavals and rapid change, youth, adventure, and a desire to succeed; it is for those who arrive with hope and the countries that give them the chance of a better life. The essence is in the characters and the places, and the power is in the interaction of multiple disciplines. It tells of invention, of research and development, and of a device that saved lives, spared thousands the pain and suffering of major operations, and funded facilities and teaching. The feelings of the author are expressed in anecdotes with emotion, stark reality, tragedies, humor, failures, and achievement. Starting with Kenya and safaris in East Africa, the story moves on to migration, Australian culture in the sixties, and then medicine and invention in surgery. It involves peoples with multiple skills in different settings. Perceptions of training of surgeons have fired public curiosity, and this story is from the inside of medical school and ultimately about what makes a surgeon. The twentieth century saw unrivaled changes in technology, politics, and human relations; the collapse of the British Empire; and the dispersal of its colonials. This is the story of a colonial boy who was one of many who traveled like feathers on the wind of change that blew across Africa. The author was honored with the Award Officer of Australia (AO) for leading a team in research and development in vascular and endovascular surgery. The story is for the unsung diverse group of special individuals who made it possible. They convinced establishments, hurdled passionate special interest groups, negotiated institutional politics, and precipitated government actions to address new concepts.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This charming autobiographical tale from Princess Michael of Kent tells of a girl growing up and the incredible bond that can exist between people and animals. Beautifully written by a natural storyteller and packed with fabulous photographs, it is also a wonderful portrait of Africa - the cheetah version of Born Free - and will delight readers worldwide. In the early 1960s, Marie Christine von Reibnitz (who would later become HRH Princess Michael of Kent) lived with her father on his farm in Mozambique. Then just a teenager, Princess Michael was entranced by the African landscape, by the wildlife and by the people she met. It was one of the happiest times of her life and she recounts that it was an orphaned cheetah cub (called Tess) who played a huge part in making it so. The relationship between the young Princess Michael and Tess, whom she hand-reared and later successfully released into the wild having trained her to hunt and survive on her own, will touch every reader's heart. The events of that period have remained with Princess Michael for the rest of her life and in A Cheetah's Tale she recalls not just the tale of Tess, but also the realities of life in Africa: from waking up in the middle of the night to find her father had just shot a lioness that was about to eat her to discovering a deadly Black Mamba curled up inside the loo! Tess was the inspiration for Princess Michael's lifelong interest in cheetah conservation and the epilogue covers some of her work as Patron of the Endangered Species Centre in South Africa and of the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia.
