The New Times "Digger began to play... the music reminded him of the sadness he felt about his life. The humiliation of so many failures amid what he thought was a life brimming with promise... he was always going to be; but never was. Meet Jonathan "Digger" Taylor, a man who wanders from job to job, relationship to relationship, seeking-like so many of us-the intangible "something" that is missing from his life. When the restaurant he opens in Florida is wrecked in a hurricane, he moves to California, where he captions a baseball team and pays the rent with an unfulfilling waiter's job; meanwhile all his relationships with women, including his wife, share the same fate as his restaurant. Digger wants more from life, to feel connection and purpose. In the hardships that befall him Digger turns to his lifelong creative dream, composing music. But his spiritual quest is offset by a dark and increasingly menacing figure that haunts both his dream and waking worlds. Moments before a crucial make-or-break musical audition, Digger meditates to calm his jittery nerves and, in his meditation, is pursued by the ominous figure until he ducks into a door beneath a sign that reads The Celestial Bar. From that moment on, his life-and yours-will never be the same. The Celestial Bar is a richly appointed way station for souls in transition, a place where wisdom is served with a smile and our most profound hunger is sated. There Digger meets his "old and forgotten" friends: Ahmay a pony tailed Shoshone chieftain: an interactive-and holographic-computer named Ramda, a mysterious bartender called Zorinthalian: and Paula, a beautiful waitress and soul mate. In the company of this unforgettable colorful and eccentric crew, Digger is "reminded" of the basic truths called the Universal Principles-the keys to all our most searching spiritual questions. We are all beings of energy here on earth to improve ourselves spiritually, Digger learns, and in The Celestial Bar you'll learn the nuts-and-bolts on how and why-including the ways in which thought and energy interact with each other so that simple changes in focus can shift our reality profoundly. Most important you'll learn about PEIS (pronounced "peace"); the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual parts of each of us that must be in balance to achieve true happiness and success in life. Around the globe, readers have not only been entertained, but have found the Universal Principles powerful tools for their own lives. Visit the Celestial Bar

So sit back into a comfortable chair; put your feet up with a cuppa, and let’s go on an adventure to distant stars, via that movie screen in your mind. PG - 13 : Parental Guidance Recommended This novel does contain descriptions of moderate action violence, suggestive adult content, controlled drug use, political themes, and some persons could interpret that it has religious connotations. Events and behaviours have been presented as realistic as possible; so as to be true to the human condition. Technical Notes The technologies described in this novel are based on the extrapolations (over the next 100 years) of existing 21st century engineering and science. The technical solutions proposed are derived specifically to resolve the engineering (as well as social and economic) problems resulting from the story’s premise and associated situational circumstances. Alas, the storyline does not utilize advanced technologies such as; faster than light travel (e.g. warp drives), wormholes, jump gates, teleportation, time travel, parallel dimensioning, and other such techno wizardry.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A delicate balance hangs in the hands of celestial seals, ancient artifacts that safeguard realms from the ravages of war and chaos. Among hundreds of realms, the Sanctified Souls Realm and the Demonic Realm stand as pillars of power, each guarded by its own celestial seal. At the heart of this epic tale lies the Demon King's insatiable ambition to wield ultimate power by seizing control of both realms, When he commands his most trusted demon, Doscendeles, to steal the celestial seal of the Sanctified Souls Realm. One of the reasons for making this decision is because the sanctified souls realm is the realm that created celestial seals for other realms. Except the demonic realm. It is the most respected and feared realm. But Doscendeles' journey takes an unexpected turn when he experiences the humility and beauty of the sanctified souls realm firsthand. Refusing to deliver the stolen seal to his master, he instead casts it into the human world, along with the seal of the Demonic Realm, leaving the Demon King enraged and vulnerable. The Demon King eventually kills Doscendeles upon refusing to hand over the seal. His last words proclaimed the celestial seal of both realms stolen and is in the human world; emphasizing the demon king will be powerless. As tensions escalate and alliances shift, the Demon King summons his highest-ranking devils, Vex and Torment, to retrieve the celestial seals at all costs. But with the seals hidden in the human world, the stakes have never been higher, and the fate of the universe hangs in the balance. Prepare to be swept away by a story of destiny, betrayal, and the ultimate quest for power. What will happen next? Find out in this epic gripping fantasy.

Book Synopsis Unveiling the Muse by : Howard Philips Smith
Download or read book Unveiling the Muse written by Howard Philips Smith and published by Univ. Press of Mississippi. This book was released on 2017-12-18 with total page 892 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditional Carnival has been well documented with a vast array of books published on the subject. However, few of them, if any, mention gay Carnival krewes or the role of gay Carnival within the larger context of the season. Howard Philips Smith corrects this oversight with a beautiful, vibrant, and exciting account of gay Carnival. Gay krewes were first formed in the late 1950s, growing out of costume parties held by members of the gay community. Their tableau balls were often held in clandestine locations to avoid harassment. Even by the new millennium, gay Carnival remained a hidden and almost lost history. Much of the history and the krewes themselves were devastated by the AIDS crisis. Whether facing police raids in the 1960s or AIDS in the 1980s, the Carnival krewes always came back each season. A culmination of two decades of research, Unveiling the Muse positions this incredible story within its proper place as an amazing and important facet of traditional Carnival. Based on years of detailed interviews, each of the major gay krewes is represented by an in-depth historical sketch, outlining the founders, moments of brilliance on stage, and a list of all the balls, themes, and royalty. Of critical importance to this history are the colorful ephemera associated with the gay tableau balls. Reproductions of never-before-published brilliantly designed invitations, large-scale commemorative posters, admit cards, and programs add dimension and life to this history. Sketches of elaborate stage sets and costumes as well as photographs of ball costumes and rare memorabilia further enhance descriptions of these tableau balls.
