It is 1917 and the Great War has been raging for three long years. Mycroft Holmes grows suspicious of one of his agents in Constantinople. Naturally, he wants to send a man to investigate who knows the language, the people and has an exemplary war record, including fourteen months posing as a German officer in Berlin. But Sherlock Holmes proves to be, for once, stubbornly unwilling to fulfill his older brother’s request. When Mycroft is shot and left for dead, Holmes is forced to Constantinople to uncover the man behind the deed. Unfortunately, before he was assaulted Mycroft failed to communicate which agent was the turncoat. So begins Holmes’ reluctant return to the Near East. Not only does the adventure provoke a bagful of memories both bitter and sweet but the hunt for the agent who betrayed them unravels with breath-robbing surprises that even Holmes with all his skills could never have anticipated. The Case of the Reluctant Agent is Book 2 of the Sherlock Holmes Series: 1.0 Chronicles of the Lost Years 2.0 The Case of the Reluctant Agent 2.5 Sherlock Boxed In (Series Boxed Set) The series contains continuing characters and storylines and is best read in order. A Romantic Sherlock Holmes Novel ___ Praise for The Case of the Reluctant Agent I am very impressed with her ability to write Sherlock Holmes close enough to the originals even Conan Doyle would have a hard time telling them apart. She is clever in her plot twists, true to Holmes in his logic and detailed thinking but she has also managed to give him a little bit of emotion that the originals lacked. Cocktails and Books

No one knows what happened to him in those years…until now. Watson takes up his pen one last time to describe in a private memoir the true tale of Holmes’ adventures during his three-year absence from Baker Street and provides a fictional explanation for many of the mysteries and inaccuracies found within the Sherlock Holmes collection of stories and novels. The answers come in the shape of a woman – Elizabeth Sigerson. Elizabeth is independent, practical, a crack shot with a pistol and definitely not a woman of her time. Elizabeth is embroiled in Holmes’ life just when Holmes scheme to expose Moriarty is culminating. She can more than hold her own against Holmes’ abilities but she has a secret that Holmes is compelled to solve… Chronicles of the Lost Years is the first in a two book series: 1.0 Chronicles of the Lost Years 2.0 The Case of the Reluctant Agent 2.5 Sherlock Boxed In (Series Boxed Set) The series contains continuing characters and storylines and is best read in order. A Romantic Sherlock Holmes Novel __ Amazon Historical Mystery Bestseller This one, yet another account of the Great Hiatus, when Holmes hid out from the infamous Moriarty, is better than most. Cooper-Posey attempts to account for the change in Watson/Conan Doyle’s writing style once Holmes returns, and does a mighty good job. —The Globe and Mail Cooper-Posey does a masterful job of recreating the style of Doyle in this vivid, exciting tale. —Romantic Times Magazine Chronicles of the Lost Years is everything you expect from a Sherlock Holmes tale, twists and turns, brilliant reasoning, tenacious villains. I have been a Holmes fan for many years so I enjoyed this a great deal… a great deal of fun to read.—Cocktails and Books

No man will marry her, for she is old and plain. Instead, she teaches Igraine’s children to read. Steffan of Durnovaria was once a celebrated warrior in the Duke of Cornwall’s army, a friend to Prince Uther, the High King’s brother, and destined for greatness, until a Saxon war hammer stole his sight and destroyed his life. To deflect Steffan’s anger from the warriors around him, Igraine directs him to help Anwen teach her daughters. The assignment brings him no happiness and terrifies Anwen, who has never spoken to a man directly in her life. When the new High King, Uther, meets Igraine for the first time and becomes obsessed with her, Anwen and Steffan are drawn into a web of lies and deceit that could destroy Britain’s fragile peace. I'm so in love with this series. Oh Anwen you and I are so alike! I can't tell you enough how Tracy can bring a character to life! I'll miss her and need to read this one again. This series is in the right century, told in the right way, and based on sound research, plus, it's just plain old great storytelling! Brilliantly crafted conversation from Steffan with his first multi-faceted lesson for the girls in Latin, sarcasm & irony. Tracy is always amazing at this. Tracy Cooper-Posey has brought the Arthurian Legend alive! I am so enjoying this series & it seems each book gets better and draws me in deeper. I hated to see this one end. A simply fantastic series that is getting better and better with each new book. The more I read of this series, the more I want. I love this book and I love Tracy Cooper-Posey! I am a long time fan of Tracy Cooper-Posey and love her writing. Pendragon Rises is an incredible story of two "invisible" people (Anwen and Stefan) who find unexpected love. Their story is woven into the amazing tapestry of the Arthurian Legend. I am in love with this series. It’s hard not to become emotionally invested in any Cooper-Posey character, but I found that especially true with Stefan and Anwen. A mighty warrior struck blind and the overlooked mouse in the corner. My heart ached for them. I absolutely love this book! We're pulled into this fantastic world by Tracy Cooper-Posey's vivid storytelling and deft handling of the personalities created within it. I can't say enough good things about Pendragon Rises or the series it's a part of! Pendragon Rises is the best novel yet of this wonderful series, The Once and Future Hearts. Once I started this one, I couldn’t put it down. Tracy puts together a wonderful story that parallels the Arthurian legends and history of that time while keeping the characters relatable and realistic. A definite read! I really liked Anwen’s happily ever after. Superb writing, I say. The romance between Steffan and Anwen is absolutely perfect! If you're afraid to give Historical romances a try due to authors not adhering to how you feel the past WAS, trust me, you won't be disappointed! A Time Travel Vampire Romance Novel ___ Praise for Kiss Across Worlds: In a nutshell, there is a LOT of action, as well as some head spinning discussion of time travel across different timelines. Ms. Cooper-Posey always makes you think while reading her stories. This is #7 in the series, but there is no “just another episode” to be found here. Wow, again Wow. I swear this author must be a time traveler because this story is filled with such awesome details. I don't think I even got up for water! And as always with Cooper Posey's characters they feel so real that its easy to get pulled in to their world for a while. The writing is superb and the story is really interesting. This is one series that I'm going to have to read the rest of. I loved Remi with his hints of vulnerability along side his bad persona. Time traveling, human trafficking and a desperate race against evil. I can never get bored with this series. Everything is so interesting and mind blowing. I've been following Tracy Cooper-Posey for a while now, and she never disappoints. Damn, she can write! To start with, I love history, I'm an academic historian, and her books are really well documented. What a great book, I just loved it. It's like being on a roller coaster, the action never stops and the time travel details are awesome. The characters are wonderfully developed and believable. The suspense is very real and I lost a lot of sleep reading this book lol The chemistry between the three main characters is off the charts and I can't say enough about the steamy sex screens...phew!

Book excerpt: Caught between magic and truth… Catrin is a handmaiden to the old Queen of Dyfed, whose husband and king, Geraint, has died without an heir, leaving the kingdom ripe for plucking. Yet Dyfed is the birthplace of King Arthur’s enchanter and adviser, Prince Merlin, who travels to the troubled kingdom to settle the question of who should be king. Marcus Jorath is a newcomer to Camelot and wants only to serve King Arthur, whose peace has brought such a difference to the life and prospects of his family. Yet he is assigned to travel with Merlin to the out-of-the-way kingdom of Dyfed instead. When the Dyfed mage, Ianto, declares it is mid-summer’s day, the maids of the kingdom visit the Maen Llia to make a wish. Catrin disputes it is the solstice, for she can read and is learned in the ways of tracking seasons and more, but no one listens to her, and she is forced to visit Maen Llia with the other women. Merlin’s company of armed men come across the women, and Marcus finds himself drawn to the fiery redheaded Catrin and her blunt, direct way of speaking and thinking about the world. Their attraction puts them in the path of Ianto, who is more than the kingdom’s inadequate mage, and has plans of his own he will not let a mere slip of a girl interfere with… This novella is part of the historical fantasy romance series, Once and Future Hearts, set in Britain during the time of King Arthur. 1.0 Born of No Man 2.0 Dragon Kin 3.0 Pendragon Rises 4.0 War Duke of Britain 5.0 High King of Britain 6.0 Battle of Mount Badon 7.0 Abduction of Guenivere 8.0 Downfall of Cornwall 8.1 Touched by Maen Llia 9.0 Vengeance of Arthur 10.0 Grace of Lancelot 11.0 The Grail and Glory 12.0 Camlann Readers have described Tracy Cooper-Posey as “a superb story teller” and her historical fantasy romances as “written art”. __ Praise for The Once and Future Hearts series Imagine how good is the author in her craft that she is capable of surprising us her readers even though the Arthurian cycle is one of the most rewritten ones in western literature. What a great storyteller! I never thought that anyone could tell an Arthurian tale as well as Mary Stewart, but Tracy Cooper Posey has succeeded. I am just in awe of her ability to meld historical detail with legends and turn out a mesmerizing story. It takes me back to the magic I felt when reading Mary Stewart's stories of Merlin. Tracy Cooper-Posey has written another winner! As a long time, self proclaimed Arthurian Legend junkie I couldn't wait to dive into Tracy Cooper Posey's new series. Tracy once again proves to be a master story teller as she weaves the delicate threads of this beloved legend into her own. I also love the fact that her female characters are definitely not boring, whiny or TSTL. Tracy Cooper Posey is brilliant at weaving stories with individuals that are completely believable in their thoughts and dialogue. Ms Tracy has an amazing way of telling a tale. It’s magical :-) Her characters come to life with vibrancy, you can hear the noises of swords clashing and, the swell of various conversations in the great hall This book is fast paced and I had trouble putting it down! Tracy again gets the reader into the times of King Arthur. It feels like you are there. definitely recommend it to anyone who loves the King Arthur legend, a wonderfully intricate story or just a great romance! I hope this series never ends.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last decade Argumentation has been gaining importance within Artificial Intelligence especially in multi agent systems. Argumentation is a powerful mechanism for modelling the internal reasoning of an agent. It also provides tools for analysing, designing and implementing sophisticated forms of interaction among rational agents, thus making important contributions to the theory and practice of multiagent dialogues. Application domains include: nonmonotonic reasoning, legal disputes, business negotiation, labor disputes, team formation, scientific inquiry, deliberative democracy, ontology reconciliation, risk analysis, scheduling, and logistics. This volume presents the latest developments in this area at the interface of argumentation theory and multi agent systems. The 10 revised full papers presented together with 3 invited papers from the AAMAS 2008 conference were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on argument-based reasoning, argumentation and dialogue, as well as strategic and pragmatic issues.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of free will is one of the great perennial issues of philosophy and has been discussed and debated over many centuries. The issues that arise in this sphere cover both metaphysics and morals and concern matters of central importance not only for philosophy but also for law, theology, psychology and the social sciences. What is at stake here is nothing less than our self-image as responsible moral agents who are in control of our own destiny and fate. The investigations and findings of modern science are judged by many to put skeptical pressure on this self-image and may challenge its credibility. During the past few decades the free will controversy has developed and evolved in exciting and significant ways. All the major parties involved in this debate have had to revise and amend their core positions with a view to responding to the sophisticated and searching arguments put forward by their critics and opponents. The papers collected in this volume represent the most essential and indispensable contributions to the contemporary debate. The specific topics covered include: moral luck, skepticism and naturalism, the consequence argument, alternate possibilities, libertarian metaphysics, compatibilism and reason-responsive theories, illusionism and revisionism, optimism and pessimism, and the phenomenology of agency, as well as contributions relating to neuroscience and experimental philosophy. The collection is arranged in a way that presents the topics covered in a structured and organized manner. The general aim is to provide an effective guide for students and readers who are new to the field, as well as a useful collection for those who are already familiar with the topics and contributions. The contributors include many of the leading and most distinguished figures in the field, along with a number of younger scholars who have already had an impact and produced significant work.

Book excerpt: Chinese government officials have played a crucial role in China's economic development, but they are also responsible for severe problems, including environmental pollution, violation of citizens' rights, failure in governance, and corruption. How does the Chinese Party-state respond when a government official commits a duty-related malfeasance or criminal activity? And how does it balance the potential political costs of disciplining its own agents versus the loss of legitimacy in tolerating their misdeeds? State and Agents in China explores how the party-state addresses this dilemma, uncovering the rationale behind the selective disciplining of government officials and its implications for governance in China. By examining the discipline of state agents, Cai shows how selective punishment becomes the means of balancing the need for and difficulties of disciplining agents, and explains why some erring agents are tolerated while others are punished. Cai finds that the effectiveness of punishing erring officials in China does not depend so much on the Party-state's capacity to detect and punish each erring official but on the threat it creates when the Party-state decides to mete out punishment. Importantly, the book also shows how relaxed discipline allows reform-minded officials to use rule-violating reform measures to address local problems, and how such reform measures have significant implications for the regime's resilience.

Book excerpt: The claim that contemporary analytic philosophers rely extensively on intuitions as evidence is almost universally accepted in current meta-philosophical debates and it figures prominently in our self-understanding as analytic philosophers. No matter what area you happen to work in and what views you happen to hold in those areas, you are likely to think that philosophizing requires constructing cases and making intuitive judgments about those cases. This assumption also underlines the entire experimental philosophy movement: only if philosophers rely on intuitions as evidence are data about non-philosophers' intuitions of any interest to us. Our alleged reliance on the intuitive makes many philosophers who don't work on meta-philosophy concerned about their own discipline: they are unsure what intuitions are and whether they can carry the evidential weight we allegedly assign to them. The goal of this book is to argue that this concern is unwarranted since the claim is false: it is not true that philosophers rely extensively (or even a little bit) on intuitions as evidence. At worst, analytic philosophers are guilty of engaging in somewhat irresponsible use of 'intuition'-vocabulary. While this irresponsibility has had little effect on first order philosophy, it has fundamentally misled meta-philosophers: it has encouraged meta-philosophical pseudo-problems and misleading pictures of what philosophy is.
