Book excerpt: The Bully Versus the Prophet is a book about my nephew who from the moment he entered into the world had to face many challenges due to his small stature. He was constantly being bullied at school and after repeatedly being bullied, his dad gave him defense lessons. After summer break, Klyn and his family moved, and he had to go to a new school. Klyn found himself being bullied again. While trying to stay on the right path by reading his Bible on his lunch hours, instead of eating, he was forced to use the Word of God to fight off and to get rid of the bully. In the end, Klyn became fed up. He knew by him being a child of God that the words of God were his only defense against the bully. He knew at the age of seven how powerful words were. When the bully left him no other choice because it appeared the bully wasn’t going to stop bullying him, he used the scripture from Psalms, chapter 105, verse 15: “Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.” The next thing Klyn knew, the bully at his new school was permanently kicked out. Klyn overcame his bullying, and you can too. There is zero tolerance for bullying. So let’s all stand up against bullies and end the bullying. No one deserves to be treated unfairly. While bullying is no laughing matter, it’s real and it’s happening every day. Bullies are big monsters that like to pick on people smaller than them because that makes them feel powerful. If you know of anyone being bullied, don’t be afraid to speak up. Let someone, an adult or anyone in higher authority, know and never try to face or take the bully alone. It’s not fun being picked on or to pick on anyone.

Book excerpt: Jesus' Crucifixion and Resurrection, foretold by 12 Biblical Prophets & Kings, was written for youth groups, Jesus lovers, church leaders, Bible study groups, and families eager for a deeper understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ. The author filled this book with conceptual illustrations that help further illuminate the readers' experience. She also included chapter-by-chapter study guides for your convenience. Ten Biblical prophets (Daniel, Ezekiel, Hosea, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micah, Moses, Nathan, Samuel, and Zechariah) and two kings (King David and King Solomon) foretold, foreshadowed, and prophesied about the birth, life, and death of our Lord Jesus Christ, His resurrection three days later, followed by His ascension. This book primarily focuses on the final week of Jesus' life, including His crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension; details about the Holy Spirit; the vital importance of forgiving even if you can't forget; and the Disciples and other followers who helped spread His teachings worldwide. It ends with a call to action for all to become or continue being a S.O.L.D.I.E.R. for Christ as a Saved Christian Gentile or Messianic Jew who will spread the word that Jesus is at the root of all people's Salvation. As Jesus aptly said in John 14:6 (K.J.V.), "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Fifty percent (50%) of all book sales will be donated to Covenant House to "join the fight to end youth homelessness."

Syria, 1098: After a gruelling siege, the crusaders finally capture Antioch—but within days, the besiegers become the besieged. Clawing for survival in a doomed city, the Franks turn to a new power for help: the mad prophet, Peter Bartholomew. Plagued by his own unwanted visions, Lukas Bessarion knows the vicious Bartholomew is controlled by the demon Lilith, now growing in power. But none of the Franks—from naïve ladies to murderous counts and princes obsessed with political rivalry—seem worth saving. Worse, if Lukas accepts his destiny as a prophet, he’ll need to renounce earthly power—like his father’s enchanted lance, hidden beneath Antioch. With the Lance, he hopes to avenge his beloved Ayla and lead his own people to victory. But Lukas isn’t the only one who wants the Lance. Lilith’s thirst for blood is insatiable. And to satisfy it, she will stop at nothing to gain control of Lukas, the Lance, and the entire crusade… The Watchers of Outremer historical fantasy series continues with this dark and thrilling sequel to SPFBO finalist A Wind from the Wilderness! Pick up A Conspiracy of Prophets today to experience the darkest days of the First Crusade, as demons and demigods battle for the soul of an army.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pioneering historian, sociologist, editor, novelist, poet, and organizer, W. E. B. Du Bois was one of the foremost African American intellectuals of the twentieth century. While Du Bois is remembered for his monumental contributions to scholarship and civil rights activism, the spiritual aspects of his work have been misunderstood, even negated. W. E. B. Du Bois, American Prophet, the first religious biography of this leader, illuminates the spirituality that is essential to understanding his efforts and achievements in the political and intellectual world. Often labeled an atheist, Du Bois was in fact deeply and creatively involved with religion. Historian Edward J. Blum reveals how spirituality was central to Du Bois's approach to Marxism, pan-Africanism, and nuclear disarmament, his support for black churches, and his reckoning of the spiritual wage of white supremacy. His writings, teachings, and prayers served as articles of faith for fellow activists of his day, from student book club members to Langston Hughes. A blend of history, sociology, literary criticism, and religious reflection in the model of Du Bois's best work, W. E. B. Du Bois, American Prophet recasts the life of this great visionary and intellectual for a new generation of scholars and activists. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solomon and the Ant, using the Bible as a dialogue partner, examines stories from the Qur’an, their drama, characters, and meaning. Although some qur’anic stories have close biblical parallels, here Penchansky examines stories without biblical precursors. Qur’anic narratives in dialogue with biblical texts enhance understanding. Penchansky chooses biblical stories that address similar questions about the nature of God and God’s interaction with people. Solomon matches wits with an ant, a bird, and the queen of Sheba. Magical creatures, the jinn, are driven out of heaven by fiery meteors. Moses, on a quest, meets a mysterious stranger. The Bible offers parallels and connections. Genesis, Exodus, Isaiah, Matthew, and other biblical books, contrast with the qur’anic text, comment on the qur’anic story, and supplement it. • Separated by space and time, the Bible and the Qur’an faced similar issues. • Both the Bible and the Qur’an adapted material from their surrounding culture while at the same time distinguishing themselves from that culture. • Rather than addressing this cultural confrontation with rigid certainty, the Bible and the Qur’an are ambiguous and multivocal. • The Bible and the Qur’an are layered, containing stories within stories, fragments, and structural abnormalities. These features contribute to meaning. Penchansky’s analysis of these stories makes the Qur’an accessible and compelling to nonspecialists and students.

Book excerpt: Is the world better off without Christianity? Combining narrative with keen critique of contemporary debates, author and historian John Dickson gives an honest account of 2,000 years of Christian history that helps us understand what Christianity is and what it's meant to be. To say that the Christian Church has an "image problem" doesn't quite capture it. From the Crusades and the Inquisition to the racism and abuse present in today's Church--both in Catholic and Protestant traditions--the institution that Christ established on earth has a lot to answer for. But the Church has also had moments throughout history when it has been in tune with Jesus' teachings--from the rise of charity to the invention of hospitals. For defenders of the faith, it's important to be able to recognize the good and bad in the church's history and be inspired to live aligned with Christ. For skeptics, this book is a thought-provoking introduction to the idea that Christianity is, despite all, an essential foundation of our civilization. Bullies and Saints will take you on a big-picture journey from the Sermon on the Mount to the modern church: Giving contextual accounts of infamous chapters of Christian history, such as the Crusades, and acknowledging their darkness. Outlining the great movements of the faith and defending its heroes and saints, some of whom are not commonly recognized. Examining the Church beside the teachings and life of Jesus and how it has succeeded in its mission to imitate Christ.

Book excerpt: FROM NEW YORK TIMES BEST-SELLING AUTHOR Power is only as strong as the authority that sustains it. This book will help you be a better leader. It will help you receive a healthy dose of accountability through applied spiritual authority. The biblical prophets did not live or prophesy in a contextual vacuum. They spoke into real-life circumstances to real-life leaders such as kings, queens, governors, and generals. Drawing on biblical accounts, Dr. Mark Rutland shows how these interactions, sometimes in the form of advice but more often as dramatic confrontations, demonstrate the tension between heaven's authority and the princes of this world. Readers will discover that: God positions His messengers to confront and advise those who lead in the natural realm. Likewise, Satan is also working to position his own servants near the world's leaders hoping to steer them away from the things and plans of God. To whom those leaders listen will determine, to a large extent, the fate of nations. God often positions His servants at the right elbow of leaders in a wide range of disciplines, from business to education to entertainment to politics. Every believer should be open to being "God's prophetic voice" in someone else's life, whether that person is a child, a boss, or a town councilman. Likewise, every believer should be in constant prayer for and humbly sensitive to wise counsel sent from God as a gift of grace. God makes and unmakes kings. When they can discern and listen to His voice, He sustains their well-wielded authority with His supernatural power.

He sneaks into the United States, converts to Christianity, and then surrenders to the FBI. Casey Edgars, a prominent televangelist, proclaims Baghai to be a prophet of God and demands a presidential pardon. When President Jennifer Hays refuses, she faces an impeachment movement led by partisan politicians. Hays is able to use a terrorist attack in America and exploit an anomaly in the Constitution to defeat her political enemies. Set in the far-flung areas of Pensacola, Florida; Dahlonega, Georgia; and Washington, D.C.; this religious/political thriller is a contemporary nail biter. The debut novel of author Richard Staples was inspired by the book 23 Minutes in Hell by Bill Wiese. He lives in Atlanta with Jackie, his wife of 24 years. His next book is about ghosts and spirits, and their inability to move on to the afterlife. Publisher's website: http: //www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/title/ProphetsAndBadGuys.htm
