Book excerpt: Richard Sibbes was known in London in the early 17th century as "the Heavenly Doctor Sibbes" The Bruised Reed and Smoking Flax; is a masterful exposition of Matthew 12:20. In this the author explains what the reed refers to, then he explains what is to be "a bruised reed." There is no better introduction to the Puritans than the writings of Richard Sibbes, who is, in many ways, a typical Puritan. Sibbes never wastes the student's time, ' he scatters pearls and diamonds with both hands. C. H. Spurgeon

Book excerpt: Volume 36 Sermons 2121-2181 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to publish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

This book is the story of the sadist and his crew and how his guilt was slowly determined in the local newspaper, The Desert Journal.

Book excerpt: Jesus gave specific and succinct instructions on how to inherit eternal life, yet the Church sets those teachings aside. Amazing right? I will show you exactly how Christian Church doctrine leads people away from Jesus'teachings, and God's instructions for receiving salvation and what to do about it. You will also read here about the great apostasy, the mark of the beast, the seal of God, what laws does God expect us to keep, the means of saving grace, true repentance, the Church of Laodicea, Jesus' style of evangelism, Jesus' atonement, the nature of God, and much more. If you are a Christian or Jew, you salvation weights in the balance of knowing what is in this book.

Far from major population centers, highways, airports, or trains, Inverness is just about the last place you’d expect to find an international soldier of fortune and treasure hunter. But that’s exactly what Blackthorne is—one of the best—and he’s about to embark on his most dangerous journey: the quest for a priceless work of art, a deadly magical talisman, an object of dire arcane power. His opponent is the viperous Anton Reddick, an evil millionaire who’ll stop at nothing to fulfill his desires. The chase is on—from New Jersey to Peru, and finally to Inverness, Scotland, where Lincoln Blackthorne must face not only Reddick and his cutthroats but also his own deepest fears and nightmares. Whether he's cruising at nine thousand feet in a pilotless plane filled with poison, risking his hide in a red-hot batch of lava, or taking his chances with a red-haired seductress, it's all in a day's work for the misfit spy and master tailor out to sew up the case—before it unravels him. If you have an eye for run, fantasy, and futuristic firepower, Lincoln Blackthorne is the man to watch. (previously published as written by Geoffrey Marsh)

Book excerpt: Why do educated people allow other’s to manipulate them? It is astonishing when people follow blindly, without thinking for themselves. Some believe everything they read or allow other’s to tell them how to think and feel. Although this is a fictional story, it was based on a true, but bizarre occurrence. SATAN’S CHILD is a story of a small child who was murdered by her mother and of how god-fearing people allowed this to occur. This is a story about a sociopathic woman who the local church tried to save from the clutches of Satan, only to be manipulated by her into believing a child has to die to earn them glory with God. Sue Vaughn, the mother of six-year-old namesake, Susie Vaughn, falls in love with her dentist and sets out to get him. The dentist who is a womanizer sets about to draw Sue into his church. Together they manipulate the town’s people and use them for there own gains. Moral corruption runs amuck thought the small town.
