Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1930, Kenneth Morris's superb Book of the Three Dragons is an imaginative reworking of elements from the Mabinogion and other Welsh Celtic stories, telling the story of Manawyddan, who is given the choice between immortality with the gods or preventing a new evil from destroying the Island of the Mighty. Manawyddan chooses the latter, and the novel tells of his adventures. Swiftly moving and dramatic, this is a book that lovers of modern fantasy and old hero tales alike cannot afford to miss. Perhaps most importantly for modern readers, for the first time Morris's unpublished ending - amounting to one-third of the book's length - is included in this new edition, telling what became of the hero, his wife, and their son. NOTE ON NEW SERIES: This is the first in our new line of fantasy fiction, which will feature both masterpieces no longer in print in the US as well as new works. The series will be edited by noted Tolkien scholar Douglas A. Anderson, whose previous books include The Annotated Hobbit (HM) and Tales Before Tolkien (Ballantine). Mr. Anderson will also write introductions to each book, providing context and background to enrich the reader's experience. The cover look and interior design will appeal to all demographics (especially younger fans under 30 who play computer fantasy games and love writers like Tolkien, Pratchett, and Pullman) with top artists creating a dazzling fantasy look. Quotes:"It is a singularly fine example of the recreation of a work magnificent in its own right (the 'Mabinogion') -- a literary event rather rare except in fantasy" - Ursula Le Guin "Kenneth Morris was an important, innovative fantasist, worthy to rank with MacDonald, Eddison, and Tolkien." - Ursula Le Guin "Morris writes with all Lord Dunsany's richness, though his cadences are Celtic rather than biblical. This one should be read aloud." - review in the Feb. 2004 issue of Fantasy & Science Fiction magazine "Book of the Three Dragons is perhaps the single best fantasy adaptation from a real-world up0mythology (in this case, the Welsh Mabinogion), and the best of his tales¿" - John Rateliff, review in the Sept. 2003 issue of Wizards of the Coast website (www.wizards.com), the #1 adventure gaming company in the world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of Dragons The book contains eight stories featuring youngsters and dragons who come to cross purposes and clash. To paraphrase what used to be written in the unexplored areas of ancient maps, Here There Be Dragons: a red dragon who escapes from a book, a purple dragon who changes life forever in Rotundia, a plague of green dragons with yellow wings, a dragon made of ice, an old white dragon with a beard, a rust-red armored dragon with a furry secret, a shining fiery dragon, and a huge yellow dragon. Competing against the various dragons were such clever children as Edmund (he is a boy who likes to find things out, which is not the same as learning things), Lionel (who really should never have opened that lovely book he found), and more than one Princess: Mary Ann (who loved her little pet rhinos, but most especially loved her tiny elephant), and Sabrinetta (who had a heart of gold). Nesbit writes many vivid, humorous, striking, or beautiful similes. One dragon's "claws were as long as lessons and as sharp as bayonets." Another dragon cries with rage "like twenty engines all letting off steam at the top of their voices inside Cannon Street Station." The Northern Lights look like "as if the fairies were planting little shining baby poplar trees and watering them with liquid light." And "when the Dragon saw them start, he turned and flew after them, with his great wings flapping like clouds at sunset, and the Hippogriff's wide wings were snowy as clouds at moonrise." The stories in The Book of Dragons are rarely scary, occasionally moving, often beautiful, and always witty. Children and adults should enjoy them.

Book excerpt: “The best mingling of history with historical magic that I have ever seen.”—Gene Wolfe In a snowbound inn high in the Alps, four people meet who will alter fate. A noble Byzantine mercenary . . . A female Florentine physician . . . An ageless Welsh wizard . . . And Sforza, the uncanny duke. Together they will wage an intrigue-filled campaign against the might of Byzantium to secure the English throne for Richard, Duke of Gloucester—and make him Richard III. Available for the first time in nearly two decades, with a new introduction by New York Times-bestselling author Scott Lynch, The Dragon Waiting is a masterpiece of blood and magic. “Had [John M. Ford] taken The Dragon Waiting and written a sequence of five books based in that world, with that power, he would’ve been George R.R. Martin.” —Neil Gaiman At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.
