Download or read book The Book of Origins written by Philip Eveson and published by Welwyn Commentary Series. This book was released on 2001 with total page 592 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As its name implies, Genesis is a book of origins. In it we are told of the origin of the universe, the beginnings of the human race and the birth of the Israelite nation. But it is more than an early record of origins. It is part of God's Word to us, what the apostle Paul calls "God-breathed" Scripture. Here we are given infallible instruction concerning where we all came from and why things are the way they are. The book of Genesis is also crucially important for our understanding of the rest of Scripture. It introduces us to the true and living God, to the beginnings of sin, its consequences and how it has affected the whole created order. - Publisher.

Book Synopsis The Lamb is All the Glory by : Richard Brooks
Download or read book The Lamb is All the Glory written by Richard Brooks and published by EP BOOKS. This book was released on 1986 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book of Revelation is the glorious culmination of Scripture. Everything focuses on the one who is the Lord of glory -- Jesus Christ. As Joel Beeke observes, 'Richard Brooks comes afresh to the message of Revelation with a warm, pastoral exposition that feeds the hearts as well as the mind of the reader. This volume is practical, clearly written, and easy to understand. Above all, it points us to the glorious victory that awaits all those who faithfully follow the Lamb of God'. The interpretation of the book of Revelation has led to a vast array of prophetical and historical schemes that have deterred many Christians from serious study. This volume will help prevent us from being deterred. The visions are clearly explained, and there is, throughout, good application.

Book Synopsis The Final Word by : Steve Wilmshurst
Download or read book The Final Word written by Steve Wilmshurst and published by EP BOOKS. This book was released on 2007-12 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book of Revelation was written for a people under pressure - a people who knew all too clearly that the world was against them. Nearly all the church leaders had been martyred. What was needed was a survival manual, explaining how to survive when the world is against you; here it is! We, too, need to know how to survive in a hostile world. Revelation is for ordinary believers, not to fight over, but to enable us to keep fighting the real fight. Although the gospel had spread throughout the Roman Empire, it had not taken it over. Persecution was looming and the law was against them. It is in that context of suffering and oppression that the Lord gives John the series of visions which he writes down in the form of this book. It is a survival manual, explaining how to survive when the world is against you. Even though it is a little harder for us to see, this is what we need to know in our day as well. We in the West are not yet being openly persecuted, but at least in the UK that is the direction we are heading. In any case, the world is against us and we have to know how to survive as believers on increasingly hostile ground. This is why Revelation is so vitally relevant for our day. The basic message can be summed up simply and wonderfully: Jesus wins, and as Christians we are safe with him!

Download or read book Mark written by Steve Wilmshurst and published by Welwyn Commentary. This book was released on 2011-06-06 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr Steve Wilmshurst is currently Director of Training at Kensington Baptist Church in Bristol and teaches on the New Testament in a variety of other places. He is the author of The Final Word - The book of Revelation simply explained, also published by EP in the Welwyn Commentary Series. Based on sermons preached at Kensington Baptist Church, Bristol, the author has increasingly, and beyond his expectations, been drawn in by the sheer power of Mark's story-telling. The author comments that, 'Mark's gospel focuses on the Lord Jesus as the crucified Christ; as his followers we are called to take up our cross and follow him who gave his life as a ransom for many. If this book encourages you in this path of discipleship, it will have achieved its purpose'. Grasping something of the skilled and beautiful construction of the gospel has frequently shed fresh light on familiar passages; recognising the half-concealed links to the Old Testament prophets has opened up new understanding of the mission of the Lord Jesus.

Book excerpt: Ezekiel lived in times of great political turmoil and witnessed the final collapse of Judah to the Babylonian empire. His total, unquestioning willingness to do God's will, often at great cost to himself, during the long years of his faithful ministry in exile, is a shining example to Christian workers everywhere. The message of Ezekiel is one of God's faithfulness to his covenant, both in carrying out judgement on sin and in the restoration and blessing of a remnant through the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The prophet's final vision looks forward to days of great blessing, encompassing not only the restoration from exile, but the blessings of the new convenant and the final glory of heaven.

Download or read book The Beauty of Holiness written by Philip H. Eveson and published by EP BOOKS. This book was released on 2007 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leviticus is among the least read and understood books of the Bible. The contents may even seem boring and uninviting. Why should we study a book that begins and ends with animal sacrifices and presents detailed laws concerning ritual purity and priestly practices? The answer is that Leviticus is part of God's Word. It tells us what is true and of eternal benefit for our lives. Here is a book to make us wise about salvation. The things that happened to Israel in the Old Testament are symbolic pointers to the wonderful salvation we have begun to enjoy in Christ.
