Download or read book Complete Anthems written by John Goss and published by A-R Editions, Inc.. This book was released on 2015-01-01 with total page 523 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edition of the anthems of John Goss (18001880) includes a large number of works that have been unavailable beyond their initial nineteenth-century printing. The anthems range from short works in hymnbook format to expansive anthems in choral score frequently employing verse and solo sections. Gosss music entered British consciousness on a national level with the inclusion of two choral works at Wellingtons funeral (one of which was fully orchestrated and is included in this edition), and after this point his music was featured on numerous occasions of national importance. There is a lyrical elegance to Gosss writing, coupled with a compositional integrity that few mastered so consistently, that places his output in a special category within the lineage of English cathedral music. Whether the works are one-page miniatures, or substantial pieces of multiple pages, the understanding of prosody, especially in relation to sacred texts, is notably accomplished. Today his works afford performers fine setting of texts that are easily applicable to liturgies of our own time, whether large or small, across multiple denominations.

Book Synopsis Legumes under Environmental Stress by : Parvaiz Ahmad
Download or read book Legumes under Environmental Stress written by Parvaiz Ahmad and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-02-16 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leguminous crops have been found to contribute almost 27% of the world’s primary crop production. However, due to environmental fluctuations, legumes are often exposed to different environmental stresses, leading to problems with growth and development, and ultimately, decreased yield. This timely review explains the transcriptomics, proteomics, genomics, metabolomics, transgenomics, functional genomics and phenomics of a wide range of different leguminous crops under biotic and abiotic stresses, and their genetic and molecular responses. Amongst others the text describes the effect of nutrient deficiency, pesticides, salt, and temperature stress on legumes. Importantly, the book explores the physiobiochemical, molecular and omic approaches that are used to overcome biotic and abiotic constraints in legumes. It looks at the exogenous application of phytoprotectants; the role of nutrients in the alleviation of abiotic stress; and the microbial strategy for the improvement of legume production under hostile environments. Key features: demonstrates how to mitigate the negative effect of stress on leguminous crops, and how to improve the yield under stress the most up-to-date research in the field written by an international team of active researchers and practitioners across academia, industry and non-profit organisations. This volume is a valuable and much-needed resource for scientists, professionals and researchers working in plant science, breeding, food security, crop improvement and agriculture worldwide. In universities it will educate postgraduate and graduate students in plant science and agriculture; it will also benefit those in scientific institutions and in biotech and agribusiness companies, who deal with agronomy and environment.

Book Synopsis Better Living through TV by : Steven A. Benko
Download or read book Better Living through TV written by Steven A. Benko and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2022-03-25 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Watching television need not be a passive activity or simply for entertainment purposes. Television can be the site of important identity work and moral reflection. Audiences can learn about themselves, what matters to them, and how to relate to others by thinking about the implicit and explicit moral messages in the shows they watch. Better Living through TV: Contemporary TV and Moral Identity Formation analyzes the possibility of identifying and adopting moral values from television shows that aired during the latest Golden Era of television and Peak TV. The diversity of shows and approaches to moral becoming demonstrate how television during these eras took advantage of new technologies to become more film-like in both production quality and content. The increased depth of characterization and explosion of content across streaming and broadcast channels gave viewers a diversity of worlds and moral values to explore. The possibility of finding a moral in the stories told on popular shows such as The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, The Wire, and The Good Place, as well as lesser known shows such as Letterkenny and The Unicorn, are explored in a way that centers television viewing as a site for moral identity formation.
