Book Synopsis The Uniqueness of the Bible by : Larry Siekawitch
Download or read book The Uniqueness of the Bible written by Larry Siekawitch and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2015-12-09 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do we know what is true about God and religion? Ultimately this question boils down to whether we consider our supreme authority to be tradition or revelation. In The Uniqueness of the Bible, author Dr. Larry Siekawitch explains that self and tradition fail as final arbiters of truth because humans are both finite and sinful--incapable of supplying truth without error. But if God has revealed His truth by revelation in such a way that is completely trustworthy and without error, then that revelation is the obvious candidate for supreme authority because it is God Himself speaking. God has revealed Himself and His ways in the Bible, but how can we convince Jews, Muslims, Catholics, and Mormons of this wonderful fact? We do so by simply showing them the uniqueness of the Bible and convincing them of God's ultimate authority. This study deals with the Hebrew Scriptures and demonstrates how reliable and miraculous they are. It then compares the Bible to the Koran, particularly focusing on the New Testament and its amazing supernatural nature. Finally, The Uniqueness of the Bible examines Roman Catholicism's exaltation of tradition to equality with Scripture and the Mormon addition of the Book of Mormon. This study seeks to present convincing evidence in order to help people see the superiority of the Bible to all other means of discovering spiritual truth.
Download or read book The Two Fears written by Chris Poblete and published by Cruciform Press. This book was released on 2012-04 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You can fear God or everything else. Fear wisely. Most Christians will agree that we ought to love our God. But what about fearing God? The Bible says that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" (Proverbs 9:10), yet a broad survey of modern evangelicalism reveals that the fear of God is hardly regarded as such anymore. Many Christians seem to wrongly assume that the gospel of grace trumps the fear of the Lord. Yet it is only the God of the gospel who is truly worthy of our reverential fear. The purpose of this book is to equip Christians with a healthy view of fearing God and to illustrate how it reconciles with the gospel of God's grace to sinners.

"Is it historically reliable?" "How were the books of the Bible selected?" "Is it possible that some books are missing or that others will be added?" Book Synopsis The Uniqueness of the Christian Faith by : Dr Gerald Charles Tilley
Download or read book The Uniqueness of the Christian Faith written by Dr Gerald Charles Tilley and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2013-12-27 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Critics frequently link all religions together as essentially the same and equally valid (or invalid). To do so is irrational. Any honest comparison reveals significant contradictions between the various religions, and between the religions and the Christian faith. This proves they cannot all be true. This detailed presentation of evidence shows that the Christian faith is not merely one religion among many. Whether or not one believes the Christian faith is revealed by God; it is clearly distinct from all others. Christianity should be considered as in a separate category from the religions of the world. This uniqueness can be readily discovered by anyone who studies what the Christian faith actually teaches in comparison with the teachings of the world religions. The challenge is to discover these unique features rather than ignoring or denying them as is usually done. This book verifies thirteen areas in which the Christian faith is unique when compared with the religions of man. For example, one uniqueness is that of the biblical concept of sin. None of man's religions take this issue seriously enough, or have no final solution for it. The biblical teaching is that man's rebellion (sin), created such a impassible barrier between God and man, that nothing man can do removes it. Only God could remove the barrier which He has done in Christ. God has provided the only means of forgiveness and restoration to fellowship with Himself. This is what is meant by the statement that the grace of God has provided salvation or deliverance from the consequences of our sin. It is the only solution to man's dilemma.
Book Synopsis Biblical Theology by : Geerhardus Vos
Download or read book Biblical Theology written by Geerhardus Vos and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2003-07-10 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is no less than to provide an account of the unfolding of the mind of God in history, through the successive agents of his special revelation. Vos handles this under three main divisions: the Mosaic epoch of revelation, the prophetic epoch of revelation, and the New Testament. Such an historical approach is not meant to supplant the work of the systematic theologian; nevertheless, the Christian gospel is inextricably bound up with history, and the biblical theologian thus seeks to highlight uniqueness of each biblical document in that succession. The rich variety of Scripture is discovered anew as the progressive development of biblical themes is explicated. To read these pages--the fruit of Vos' 39 years of teaching biblical theology at Princeton - is to appreciate the late John Murray's suggestion that Geerhardus Vos was the most incisive exegete in the English-speaking world of the twentieth century.
