The main characters of the story are Frontino, the bear, and Cristobal, the admiral of the seas, the man who challenged all the obsolete theories of the shape of the earth. The cast of characters include -on Frontino's side-the wise owl, the sea-star, the sea-gull, the shell fish, the crab and a plethora of colorful individuals; and on Cristobal's side, his whole crew. But wait, there are other important participants like the sun, the clouds, the wind, the sea and the beach; they all play an important role in the story.The Frontino Bear, is an inhabitant of our planet, and is in danger of extinction.Along with the arráu turtle, the jaguar, the condor, the manatee, the palmero bear, the cardenalito and many others, the frontino bear faces the danger of extinction, since it is estimated that there are less than 2,000 of them in the wild.This story presents the frontino bear as a central character of adventures and stories addressed to children, generations of relay, to whom correspond the conservation of our patrimonies, our environment, our cultural values and our history.The frontino bear, "Andean" or "spectacled" -Tremarctos ornatus- (F.Cuvier, 1825) is the only representative of the Ursidae family that lives in South America.This bear is a mammal that does not attack, they only do when sense either them or their offspring are threatened. Its distribution includes the Andean mountainous areas of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. There are isolated reports in southeastern Panama (border with Colombia) and northern Argentina, on the border with Bolivia.Within this wide geographic range, the frontino>/i> bear occupies a great diversity of habitats in floors of altitudes that go from the 250 to a little more than 4,000 meters off the level of the sea.
