Book Synopsis Symmetrization and Stabilization of Solutions of Nonlinear Elliptic Equations by : Messoud Efendiev
Download or read book Symmetrization and Stabilization of Solutions of Nonlinear Elliptic Equations written by Messoud Efendiev and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-10-17 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with a systematic study of a dynamical system approach to investigate the symmetrization and stabilization properties of nonnegative solutions of nonlinear elliptic problems in asymptotically symmetric unbounded domains. The usage of infinite dimensional dynamical systems methods for elliptic problems in unbounded domains as well as finite dimensional reduction of their dynamics requires new ideas and tools. To this end, both a trajectory dynamical systems approach and new Liouville type results for the solutions of some class of elliptic equations are used. The work also uses symmetry and monotonicity results for nonnegative solutions in order to characterize an asymptotic profile of solutions and compares a pure elliptic partial differential equations approach and a dynamical systems approach. The new results obtained will be particularly useful for mathematical biologists.

Book Synopsis Linear and Nonlinear Non-Fredholm Operators by : Messoud Efendiev
Download or read book Linear and Nonlinear Non-Fredholm Operators written by Messoud Efendiev and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-02-04 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to a new aspect of linear and nonlinear non-Fredholm operators and its applications. The domain of applications of theory developed here is potentially much wider than that presented in the book. Therefore, a goal of this book is to invite readers to make contributions to this fascinating area of mathematics. First, it is worth noting that linear Fredholm operators, one of the most important classes of linear maps in mathematics, were introduced around 1900 in the study of integral operators. These linear Fredholm operators between Banach spaces share, in some sense, many properties with linear maps between finite dimensional spaces. Since the end of the previous century there has been renewed interest in linear – nonlinear Fredholm maps from a topological degree point of view and its applications, following a period of “stagnation" in the mid-1960s. Now, linear and nonlinear Fredholm operator theory and the solvability of corresponding equations both from the analytical and topological points of view are quite well understood. Also noteworthy is, that as a by-product of our results, we have obtained an important tool for modelers working in mathematical biology and mathematical medicine, namely, the necessary conditions for preserving positive cones for systems of equations without Fredholm property containing local – nonlocal diffusion as well as terms for transport and nonlinear interactions.

Book Synopsis Monotone Flows and Rapid Convergence for Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations by : V. Lakshmikantham
Download or read book Monotone Flows and Rapid Convergence for Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations written by V. Lakshmikantham and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-02-27 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A monotone iterative technique is used to obtain monotone approximate solutions that converge to the solution of nonlinear problems of partial differential equations of elliptic, parabolic and hyperbolic type. This volume describes that technique, which has played a valuable role in unifying a variety of nonlinear problems, particularly when combined with the quasilinearization method. The first part of this monograph describes the general methodology using the classic approach, while the second part develops the same basic ideas via the variational technique. The text provides a useful and timely reference for applied scientists, engineers and numerical analysts.
Book Synopsis Attractors for Equations of Mathematical Physics by : Vladimir V. Chepyzhov
Download or read book Attractors for Equations of Mathematical Physics written by Vladimir V. Chepyzhov and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2002 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the major problems in the study of evolution equations of mathematical physics is the investigation of the behavior of the solutions to these equations when time is large or tends to infinity. The related important questions concern the stability of solutions or the character of the instability if a solution is unstable. In the last few decades, considerable progress in this area has been achieved in the study of autonomous evolution partial differential equations. For anumber of basic evolution equations of mathematical physics, it was shown that the long time behavior of their solutions can be characterized by a very important notion of a global attractor of the equation. In this book, the authors study new problems related to the theory of infinite-dimensionaldynamical systems that were intensively developed during the last 20 years. They construct the attractors and study their properties for various non-autonomous equations of mathematical physics: the 2D and 3D Navier-Stokes systems, reaction-diffusion systems, dissipative wave equations, the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation, and others. Since, as it is shown, the attractors usually have infinite dimension, the research is focused on the Kolmogorov $\varepsilon$-entropy of attractors. Upperestimates for the $\varepsilon$-entropy of uniform attractors of non-autonomous equations in terms of $\varepsilon$-entropy of time-dependent coefficients are proved. Also, the authors construct attractors for those equations of mathematical physics for which the solution of the corresponding Cauchyproblem is not unique or the uniqueness is not proved. The theory of the trajectory attractors for these equations is developed, which is later used to construct global attractors for equations without uniqueness. The method of trajectory attractors is applied to the study of finite-dimensional approximations of attractors. The perturbation theory for trajectory and global attractors is developed and used in the study of the attractors of equations with terms rapidly oscillating with respect tospatial and time variables. It is shown that the attractors of these equations are contained in a thin neighborhood of the attractor of the averaged equation. The book gives systematic treatment to the theory of attractors of autonomous and non-autonomous evolution equations of mathematical physics. It can be used both by specialists and by those who want to get acquainted with this rapidly growing and important area of mathematics.

Book Synopsis Evolution Equations Arising in the Modelling of Life Sciences by : Messoud Efendiev
Download or read book Evolution Equations Arising in the Modelling of Life Sciences written by Messoud Efendiev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with the modeling, analysis and simulation of problems arising in the life sciences, and especially in biological processes. The models and findings presented result from intensive discussions with microbiologists, doctors and medical staff, physicists, chemists and industrial engineers and are based on experimental data. They lead to a new class of degenerate density-dependent nonlinear reaction-diffusion convective equations that simultaneously comprise two kinds of degeneracy: porous-medium and fast-diffusion type degeneracy. To date, this class is still not clearly understood in the mathematical literature and thus especially interesting. The author both derives realistic life science models and their above-mentioned governing equations of the degenerate types and systematically studies these classes of equations. In each concrete case well-posedness, the dependence of solutions on boundary conditions reflecting some properties of the environment, and the large-time behavior of solutions are investigated and in some instances also studied numerically.
Book Synopsis Multi-Pulse Evolution and Space-Time Chaos in Dissipative Systems by : Sergey Zelik
Download or read book Multi-Pulse Evolution and Space-Time Chaos in Dissipative Systems written by Sergey Zelik and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2009-03-06 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors study semilinear parabolic systems on the full space ${\mathbb R}^n$ that admit a family of exponentially decaying pulse-like steady states obtained via translations. The multi-pulse solutions under consideration look like the sum of infinitely many such pulses which are well separated. They prove a global center-manifold reduction theorem for the temporal evolution of such multi-pulse solutions and show that the dynamics of these solutions can be described by an infinite system of ODEs for the positions of the pulses. As an application of the developed theory, The authors verify the existence of Sinai-Bunimovich space-time chaos in 1D space-time periodically forced Swift-Hohenberg equation.
