For I perceived that the reason why several Christians make little value of their Christian life is due to lack of clear and proper understanding of the works of the Trinity in their Salvation experiences and probably because the transaction was not properly done. These may be the same reason why most Christians are living a life of hypocrisy and void of power, because they understood stricken the role of the Trinity in the Economy of their salvation. Hence they don’t appropriate the efficacy of the power of Trinity in their salvation bargain. No wonder so many Christians resolved to other sources of power in times of crisis and difficulties. I perceived that the reason why several Christians take little value to their Christian life is the lack of proper understanding of the works of the Trinity in their salvation experiences, and probably because the transaction was not properly done. These may be the reason why most Christians are living a defeated and hypocritical life. Because they understood stricken the role of the individual Persons of the Trinity in the economy of their salvation; hence they don’t appropriate the efficacy of the power of the Trinity in their salvation bargains. No wander, they resolved to other sources of power in their times of crisis and difficulties. The fact on the importance of the doctrine of salvation was elucidated by the Article Bible.org as they said that “Soteriology, the doctrine of salvation, must be the grandest theme in the Scriptures. It embraces all of time as well as eternity past and future. It relates in one way or another to all of mankind, without exception. It even has ramifications in the sphere of the angels. It is the theme of both the Old and New Testaments. It is personal, national, and cosmic”. But in all its beauty, we don’t seem to understand and appreciate the role the individual Persons of the Godhead play in our salvation economy.

Book excerpt: In writing this book, I was mindful of the many areas of conflict that exist between Christian and Christian, Christian and Jew, Christian and Jehovah Witness, Members of The Church of Latter Day Saints and others. The purpose was to examine critically, some of the main areas of conflict, and measure them against what the bible has to say concerning the Godhead, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and to arrive at a reasonable, honest and dispassionate conclusion. One very clear and positive way was to show that Jesus, that great and unusual man of history, was indeed a man from heaven and is in fact God incarnate. Even those who have not accepted Jesus as God or equal with God, must admit that he was like no other. He was born in a lowly stable and died a convicted felon. Yet the world in short order turned to him. Even the mighty Roman Empire which initially haunted and crucified, hanged and hounded Christians, eventually turned to Him and acknowledged Him. The evidence, then, is that Jesus is someone special. The Jewish ruler Nichodemus acknowledged he was from God. It follows, therefore, that if Jesus was from God, then it is reasonable to accept that he was a person of truth and integrity. Yet Jesus said he was God. God seems to have been well pleased with Jesus. Is it not reasonable, therefore, to accept Jesus at His word? Commonsense and logic answers a resounding Yes!

Rather, it is the blazing core of Christian doctrine, where the triune nature of God and the truth of the gospel come together. Accordingly, a healthy Christian theology must confess the doctrine of the Trinity and the doctrine of salvation as closely related, mutually illuminating, and strictly ordered. When the two doctrines are left unconnected, both suffer. The doctrine of the Trinity begins to seem altogether irrelevant to salvation history and Christian experience, while soteriology meanwhile becomes naturalized, losing its transcendent reference. If they are connected too tightly, on the other hand, human salvation seems inherent to the divine reality itself. Deftly navigating this tension, Fountain of Salvation relates them by expounding the doctrine of eternal processions and temporal missions, ultimately showing how they inherently belong together. The theological vision expounded here by Fred Sanders is one in which the holy Trinity is the source of salvation in a direct and personal way, as the Father sends the Son and the Holy Spirit to enact an economy of revelation and redemption. Individual chapters show how this vision informs the doctrines of atonement, ecclesiology, Christology, and pneumatology—all while directly engaging with major modern interpreters of the doctrine of the Trinity. As Sanders affirms throughout this in-depth theological treatise, the triune God is the fountain from which all other doctrine flows—and no understanding of salvation is complete that does not begin there.
