Download or read book Reasonable Accommodation written by JayW. Spechler and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-12 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reasonable accommodation is defined as any change in the work environment or in the way business is usually conducted that results in equal employment opportunity for an individual with a disability. With the Americans with Disabilities Act in full swing and more than 35,000 court cases on record, there is much to be done to get most companies into compliance. Reasonable Accommodation: Profitable Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act was designed to provide those responsible for diversity and implementing the ADA with specific benchmark examples of how companies have provided accommodations that have had a positive impact on profitability, quality, employee and customer relations. This masterfully written book covers many important topics dealing directly with the ADA. It also provides numerous technologies available that can greatly increase productivity and quality of performance for disabled employees, as well as a "who's who" of case studies including: AT&T, Boeing, Federal Express, Ford Motor Co., Bank of America, Digital Equipment, General Electric Co., IBM, Motorola, WAUSAU Insurance Co., Sears Roebuck, Philip Morris, and many more.
Book Synopsis The Art of Travel by : Alain de Botton
Download or read book The Art of Travel written by Alain de Botton and published by Penguin UK. This book was released on 2003-05-29 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE SUNDAY TIMES TOP TEN BESTSELLER 'Honest, funny and dripping with witty aphorisms. Extremely entertaining and enlightening [...] all the way to journey's end' Herald One of our greatest voices in modern philosophy, author of The Course of Love, The Consolations of Philosophy, Religion for Atheists and The School of Life, presents a travel guide with a difference - an exploration of why we travel, and what we learn along the way... Few activities seem to promise as much happiness as going travelling: taking off for somewhere else, somewhere far from home, a place with more interesting weather, customs and landscapes. But although we are inundated with advice on where to travel to, we seldom ask why we go and how we might become more fulfilled by doing so. With the help of a selection of writers, artists and thinkers - including Flaubert, Edward Hopper, Wordsworth and Van Gogh - Alain de Botton provides invaluable insights into everything from holiday romance to hotel minibars, airports to sightseeing. The perfect antidote to those guides that tell us what to do when we get there, The Art of Travel tries to explain why we really went in the first place - and helpfully suggest how we might be happier on our journeys. 'Delightful, profound, entertaining. I doubt if de Botton has written a dull sentence in his life' Jan Morris 'An elegant and subtle work, unlike any other. Beguiling' Colin Thubron, The Times

Book Synopsis The Boltzmann Equation and Its Applications by : Carlo Cercignani
Download or read book The Boltzmann Equation and Its Applications written by Carlo Cercignani and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Statistical mechanics may be naturally divided into two branches, one dealing with equilibrium systems, the other with nonequilibrium systems. The equilibrium properties of macroscopic systems are defined in principle by suitable averages in well-defined Gibbs's ensembles. This provides a frame work for both qualitative understanding and quantitative approximations to equilibrium behaviour. Nonequilibrium phenomena are much less understood at the present time. A notable exception is offered by the case of dilute gases. Here a basic equation was established by Ludwig Boltzmann in 1872. The Boltzmann equation still forms the basis for the kinetic theory of gases and has proved fruitful not only for a study of the classical gases Boltzmann had in mind but also, properly generalized, for studying electron transport in solids and plasmas, neutron transport in nuclear reactors, phonon transport in superfluids, and radiative transfer in planetary and stellar atmospheres. Research in both the new fields and the old one has undergone a considerable advance in the last thirty years.

Download or read book Addressing Parental Accommodation when Treating Anxiety in Children written by Eli R. Lebowitz and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health problems of childhood and adolescence. Childhood anxiety impacts not only the anxious child themselves, but also parents and other family members who inevitably find themselves drawn into accommodating the child's symptoms. Parents of anxious children almost universally describe becoming entangled in the child's symptoms and research indicates that many of the efforts made by parents to help an anxious child actually prolong and maintain the anxiety symptoms. This book provides clinicians working with anxious children with practical strategies and tools for addressing this critical element of childhood anxiety disorders.

Book Synopsis Hotel Modernisms by : Anna Despotopoulou
Download or read book Hotel Modernisms written by Anna Despotopoulou and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-03-14 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of essays explores the hotel as a site of modernity, a space of mobility and transience that shaped the transnational and transcultural modernist activity of the first half of the twentieth century. As a trope for social and cultural mobility, transitory and precarious modes of living, and experiences of personal and political transformation, the hotel space in modernist writing complicates binaries such as public and private, risk and rootedness, and convention and experimentation. It is also a prime location for modernist production and the cross-fertilization of heterogeneous, inter- and trans- literary, cultural, national, and affective modes. The study of the hotel in the work of authors such as E. M. Forster, Katherine Mansfield, Kay Boyle, and Joseph Roth reveals the ways in which the hotel nuances the notions of mobilities, networks, and communities in terms of gender, nation, and class. Whereas Mary Butts, Djuna Barnes, Anaïs Nin, and Denton Welch negotiate affective and bodily states which arise from the alienation experienced at liminal hotel spaces and which lead to new poetics of space, Vicki Baum, Georg Lukács, James Joyce, and Elizabeth Bishop explore the socio-political and cultural conflicts which are manifested in and by the hotel. This volume invites us to think of “hotel modernisms” as situated in or enabled by this dynamic space. Including chapters which traverse the boundaries of nation and class, it regards the hotel as the transcultural space of modernity par excellence.
