Book Synopsis Robot-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy by : John W. Davis
Download or read book Robot-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy written by John W. Davis and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-22 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses knowledge gaps in RARP in 3 key sections: 1) Step-by-step approach including multiple technique options and innovations, 2) Patient selection, safety, outcomes, and 3) Preparing the patient for surgery. The order is more based upon knowledge priority rather than a chronologic sequence in which part 3 would go first. Part two allows more summary and commentary on evidence and part three allows some creative content that is otherwise hard to find in one place—medical evaluations, imaging, clinical trials, patient education, etc. This textbook emphasizes content for the advanced skills surgeon in that multiple techniques are presented as well as state of the art evidence. The learning curve is addressed and the authors clarify how this text is useful for learners. The caveat is that they should be careful in patient selection and stick with what their mentors are showing them. With experience, they can then branch out into the many techniques presented here. Robot-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy: Beyond the Learning Curve will also have cross-over appeal for surgical assistants, physician assistants, nurses, and anyone else involved in the surgical care of prostate cancer.

Book Synopsis Infertility in the Male by : Larry I. Lipshultz
Download or read book Infertility in the Male written by Larry I. Lipshultz and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2009-09-24 with total page 691 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The new edition of this canonical text on male reproductive medicine will cement the book's market-leading position. Practitioners across many specialties - including urologists, gynecologists, reproductive endocrinologists, medical endocrinologists and many in internal medicine and family practice – will see men with suboptimal fertility and reproductive problems. The book provides an excellent source of timely, well-considered information for those training in this young and rapidly evolving field. While several recent books provide targeted 'cookbooks' for those in a male reproductive laboratory, or quick reference for practising generalists, the modern, comprehensive reference providing both a background for male reproductive medicine as well as clinical practice information based on that foundation has been lacking until now. The book has been extensively revised with a particular focus on modern molecular medicine. Appropriate therapeutic interventions are highlighted throughout.

Book Synopsis The Handbook of Sex Differences Volume IV Identifying Universal Sex Differences by : Lee Ellis
Download or read book The Handbook of Sex Differences Volume IV Identifying Universal Sex Differences written by Lee Ellis and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-06-30 with total page 921 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Handbook of Sex Differences is a four-volume reference work written to assess sex differences, with a primary focus on the human species. Based on the authors’ highly influential 2008 book Sex Differences, these volumes highlight important new research findings from the last decade and a half alongside earlier findings. In this, the work’s fourth and last volume, two related questions are addressed: Are there universal sex differences (i.e., sex differences found in all societies)? And if the answer is yes, what are they and how can each one be theoretically explained? To answer the first of these two questions, this volume condenses much of the research findings amassed in the book’s first three volumes into summary tables. Then, to help identify likely universal sex differences, three versions of social role theory and two versions of evolutionary theory are examined relative to each possible universal sex difference. Consideration is even given to religious scriptures as a sixth type of explanation. In the concluding analyses, 308 likely universal sex differences are identified. No single theory was able to explain all these differences. Nevertheless, the two evolutionary theories were better in this regard than any of the three social role theories, including the recently proposed biosocial version of social role theory. The Handbook of Sex Differences is of importance for any researcher, student, or professional who requires a comprehensive resource on sex differences.

Book Synopsis Diagnostic Criteria Handbook in Histopathology by : Paul J. Tadrous
Download or read book Diagnostic Criteria Handbook in Histopathology written by Paul J. Tadrous and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-04-14 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook is designed to help jobbing histopathologists jog their memory and get through more workload in any working day. Rapid access is facilitated by a bullet-point, tabular and diagrammatic style, as well as by handy anatomical diagrams, guidance on the ‘Cut-Up’ with emphasis on core ‘datasets’ and by a special index for frozen section advice, grading systems and scoring systems. The book provides, where useful, differential diagnosis lists and presents diagnostically helpful molecular and immunohistochemical findings. Information is kept up-to-date on a dedicated website www.pathbook.com. The Diagnostic Criteria Handbook in Histopathology is not designed to be an “exam cram” and neither will it serve as a basic text for beginners. Trainees, however, will still benefit from the sheer breadth of topics covered in this one small volume: from lab management and lab methods, to autopsy practice, cytology and all sub-specialties in surgical pathology. A chapter on exam technique and mnemonics makes the book also an essential companion for those revising for professional exams. So why clutter your precious desk space with multiple sets of heavy two-volume reference works? Give this handy Vade Mecum a place next to your microscope and see how much time you could save!
Book Synopsis Advances in Cancer Management by : Ravinder Mohan
Download or read book Advances in Cancer Management written by Ravinder Mohan and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-01-27 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cancer is now the most common cause of death in the world. However, because of early diagnosis, better treatment, and advanced life expectancy, many cancer patients frequently live a long, happy, and healthy life after the diagnosis- and often live as long as patients who eventually do not die because of cancer. This book presents newer advances in diagnosis and treatment of specific cancers, an evidence-based and realistic approach to the selection of cancer treatment, and cutting-edge laboratory developments such as the use of the MALDI technique and computational methods that can be used to detect newer protein biomarkers of cancers in diagnosis and to evaluate the success of treatment.
