But when a member of the town’s small but growing Asian community is found murdered near its beach, the sleepy town ignites. Intrigued by the involvement of her London neighbor—Taymullah Azhar—in what appears to be a growing racial conflagration, Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers arranges to have herself assigned to the investigation. Setting out on her own, this is one case Havers will have to solve without her longtime partner, Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley— and it’s one of the toughest she’s ever encountered. For Havers must probe not only the mind of a murderer and her emotional response to a case unsettlingly close to her own heart, but also the terrible price people pay for deceiving others . . . and themselves. Praise for Deception on His Mind “So much fun to read, it’s criminal.”—Newsday “It’s tough to resist the pull of George’s storytelling once hooked.”—USA Today “Falls smartly into place in [George’s] literate, impassioned series, one of today’s best.”—Chicago Tribune “Fascinating . . . there are wrenching stories here, and George conveys them with exceptional grace.”—People

Tony readily takes on the assignment; Kate's beauty and inner strength made more of an impression on him than he expected. But when Kate's safety is threatened, Tony must race against the clock to keep her alive and put this ugly case to rest before anyone else gets killed.

The revelation leads to a shattering of the heterosexual spouse, especially if they have been married a long time. Deception: Revelation to Release Responses to My Secret Gay Spouse by Deborah Nottingham opens a personal view on her journey of deception from revelation to release. The first three months of this event are told from her raw journals at the time and her look back as a restored woman. Deception is the core issue, not the homosexuality. Her search for answers to her marital issues begins with her view that divorce is not acceptable for her as a Christian, even as the marriage disintegrates. Women are not to blame for cheating spouses. While he cannot choose his sexual orientation, deception is a decision for which he alone must take responsibility. This book was released on 2018-09-30 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deception is omnipresent throughout the evolution of life, inseparable from the development of various modes of communication. By effectively manipulating the behavior of others, apparently by taking advantage of recipients’ own rules, communicators are able to gain an advantage while negotiating meaning in a cross-cultural environment. Even though much research related to deceptive behavior and its detection has been conducted in recent years, little of it has concentrated on deception outside of a North American context. This monograph addresses that lacuna. Consistently, most research on deception has examined face-to-face verbal communication and ignored computer-mediated communication. In response, this book also provides detailed insights into how computer-mediated communication and adopted cultural values affect deceptive communication and deception detection across cultures, namely in Poland and the USA. It focuses on discussing theories about why cues to deception exist, theories specific to verbal cues to deception, and theories about computer mediation in communication. The book also proposes a research model postulating relationships between computer-mediated communication media, cue detection, media familiarity, national culture, espoused cultural values, veracity judgment success, and deceptive communicative behavior.

Combining military deceptions with the double-agent network run by the intelligence services, they were able to send the enemy misleading information about Allied troops, plans and operations. From moving imaginary armies around the desert to putting a corpse with false papers floating in the Mediterranean, and from faking successful bombing campaigns to the convoluted deceptions which kept part of the German forces away from Normandy prior to D-Day, Terry Crowdy explores the deception war that combined the double-agent network with ingenious plans to confuse and hoodwink the Führer.

Stewart reunites Dr. Jamie Fraser and Speed Cook, protagonists of the acclaimed The Lincoln Deception, in an intriguing presidential mystery . . . The Great War has ended, and President Woodrow Wilson’s arrival in Paris unites the city in ecstatic celebration. Major Jamie Fraser, an army physician who has spent ten months tending American soldiers, is among the crowd. As an expert on the Spanish influenza, Fraser is also called in to advise the president’s own doctor on how best to avoid the deadly disease. Despite his robust appearance, Wilson is more frail than the public realizes. And at this pivotal moment in history, the president’s health could decide the fate of nations. While Fraser investigates Wilson’s maladies, he encounters a man he has not seen for twenty years. Speed Cook—ex-professional ball player and advocate for Negro rights—is desperate to save his son Joshua, an army sergeant wrongly accused of desertion. Pledging to help Cook, Fraser and his friend are soon embroiled in dramatic events unfolding throughout Paris. At stake is not only Joshua Cook’s freedom, but the fragile treaty that may be the only way to stop Europe from plunging into another brutal war. PRAISE FOR DAVID O.
